Sunsprite Rose sucker...what to do?

Hi all,

I'm fairly new to Rose gardening, as of last year, & I have a Sunsprite Rose tree that has sent up a sucker, maybe 2 inches from the tree. The sucker is about a foot tall now. What I'm wondering is, can I use the sucker to start a new plant, or should I discard the sucker? How would I go about starting a new plant from the sucker, if recommended? Any help would be appreciated. The tree itself seems to be doing well...getting lots of buds now. :) Thanks, Jenny

Cut it off; otherwise the roots will put all their energy into the sucker.
