looking for: Rose Hips

Hey im a new gardener and I've always been fascinated by mother nature. Well now i have become obsessed with trying roses form seed. i know seed wont produce the same plant but it may produce something similar or worthwhile. i am hoping that out of the kindness of your hearts you may give the rose hips that you may have, and if the rose seems interesting i will send cuttings when they get big enough. i only have a few cuttings of angelwing jasmine to offer. but i will pay for postage. thanks for listening!

It takes 3-5 months for rose hips to ripen, so you would probably have better luck posting your request late summer or early fall.

hey joan m I have a few rose hips and was wondering how to "rippen" them and what color they should be....
I have had them in the fridge for like a month now....
and what do i do next

Ripe rose hips are usually orange or red (but can sometimes be green). Depends on the varity. If the hips are in the fridge, you are "cold stratifying" them. Try a search on this forum for cold stratification, and you may find more info. I'll try to check back on this thread and post more info when I have the time.
