Is this a 'rotting' color?

The bottom part of the stem of one of my Ziplock baggie experiments is turning not brown, but the color of those disgusting canned peas, kind of a sickly green. You know the one I mean. Is this the beginning of browning? The top of the stem is still a normal healthy green.

The "canned pea" color is not a good sign.
