Wanted: English rose and/or Antique rose cuttings

Posted by ocbrian 9 oc/so cali (My Page) on

I don't have anything to exchange but I'm willing to offer postage. I'm band from purchasing more roses for this year because I have over spent on roses, but that doesn't mean I can't get cuttings! I'm really in love with English roses and antiques. Please let me know if you are willing to give me a couple of cuttings. I heard that some of the older David Austins are okay to trade, but the newer varieties are against the law. Please don't punish me if I'm incorrect about this information. What I would really love to have are cuttings of:
English Roses:
-Heritage
-Spirit of Freedom
-Abraham Darby
-Queen of Sweden
-Wife of Bath
-The Prince
-Constance Spry Climbing
-Evelyn
-Graham Thomas
-Let me know of any others you may have

Antiques:
-Comte de Chambord
-Ferdinand Pichard
-Reine des Violettes
-Mme Isaac Pereire
-VARIEGATA di BOLOGNA
-Let me know of any others you may have that you are willing to give up!

Thanks for your help!

Brian,

I might be able to help you out with a couple. Be careful, though. Once you start propagating it can become an obsession like it has for me. :)

Brian,
Its true that some Austins are still protected by patents and are illegal to trade cuttings of. Your list includes several of these: 'Queen of Sweden', 'Spirit of Freedom', Evelyn', and 'The Prince'. All others are no longer protected by a patent and can be traded.

Thanks for letting me know which ones. Someone also told me that Abe. Darby & heritage are patented still, if not let me know! I really like Heritage.

Thanks for the offer Inandempire, I sent you an email.

Hello inlandempire - it's been so hot. I was wondering if you root during certain time of year. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Kasie
