I have tried unsucessfully to root cuttings and have failed every time. Just recently (around Feb) I came across a rose stick stuck in an old pot of potting soil, when I went to remove it I found it had actually taken root. I don't remember putting it there so I don't even know what rose it is although I am thinking New Dawn since it's looking like a climber and that is the only rose closest to the pot.

How is it a rose cutting takes just by sticking in it a pot, letting it sit all winter and it takes, but if I try to root something it dies...go figure
