I just snipped them off and put them in miracle grow soil and set them under a tree. I misted them at least twice a day (sometimes more) with plain water or a drop of thrive in mister water. I sprayed them a couple of times with fungicide. I was very excited that they grew, I have tried my whole life to start them and never got them to start. I think I didn't know to keep them in the shade.

i'm curious to know why you cut all the leaves off? i've been rooting miniature rose bush cuttings, and have been using these forums for advice and everyone seems to have different reasons.

RE: my first rose start

Don't cut the leaves off, just trim them to fit the space, and trim if they are overly large. The cuttings need the leaves for photosynthesis, because the amount of stored carbohydrate in the stem is just very little.
Eventually the cutting may cannabilize some of the structural and nutrient component of the leaves, to grow new parts. So PLEASE DON'T CUT THE LEAVES OFF!!! Sativa.

The leaves fell off mine anyway, but as long as the stem stays green you're good.
