I have a different experience to share. I was told R. fortuniana was hard to root, Hogwash, I was told it was harder to bud and most were grafted, Hogwash. I've been told and studied a lot of methods and being the hardhead I am and with absolutely no experience budding or grafting or rooting, I just cut some stems of Fortuniana that is eating my backyard and rooted them without misting(sprayed the cuttings with Cloud Cover and misted before and after work) and they lived. Next , last Nov. I cut some stems and budded some roses on the stems and rooted them using the 2 litre pop bottle method in winter sun here without rooting first. Some of the leaves of Fort were overheated and roasted in the bottles, but the cuttings survived. I got about 75 to 80 percent survival rate and have some new plants. Don't let commercial expectations detour you from trying everything and anything at home. Cut a stem and bud immmediately and stick in the ground.The hardest part was talking myself into doing it. I did drop the cut buds into a dish with Consan 20 and wet the stems with it while taking a long time to get the bark apart to insert the bud. Used dental floss to tie the bud in and wrapped with parafilm. Some of the buddings were very sloppy at first, They are growing.Go For It.
