Starting a rose cutting in the garden

I am enjoying reading the messages on this list. Thank you! Perhaps my question has already been answered. I am not sure how to do a proper search.

I am wondering how to propagate a rose cutting directly into the garden, without starting it in another pot. It seems as though somewhere I read that it could be covered by a milk jug or glass jug.

When would I do this (so it wouldn't get too hot or cold) and how would I proceed?

Thanks so much!

just stick it in the soil and it will grow..takes about 1 month to get it growing..remember to water it....
