Of course, I'd take their recommendations as just suggestions. Seed set is extremely climate dependent with many roses. Iceberg sets hips with viable seed like crazy in the cooler coastal weather here in SoCal. Inland heat prevents it from setting many at all. I frequently found hips on Banksiae and Mermaid at the coast, but very seldom find them here in the inland heat. As with everything else, your mileage will vary, but at least it gives some place to start looking. Glad I could help! Kim

I'm mostly interested in breeding Old Garden Tea roses with modern roses for better disease resistance and more color variation.
also I am mightily intrigued with crossing a Tea with "Borderor" because it was bred from
Jersey Beauty X R. wich. X Perle des Jardins' a yellow Tea.

There are so few climbing Tea roses compared to H.T.s, I'd like to see more of this type.
