Can Carefree Beauty be propagated by root cuttings?

I'm new to propagating roses. I've only done layers in the past. I've propagated apples by cutting a 6 inch length of root and planting it, leaving 2 inches sticking above the ground. A month or so later, a new shoot will grow from the root. I find it much, much easier than rooting a branch or stem cutting. Anyway, since apples are related to roses, I thought maybe I would try it. So before I dig up some Carefree Beauty roots, does anyone have experience doing this with roses? Will some cultivars "take" better than others?
