New Bud Grafted rose plants

Several of the roses I bud grafted in early July have the new eyes growing about a foot long with buds on them. My concern is over wintering these since our winters can cause some kill to new canes not hardened off. The Multiflora plants are a bed and are over 2 years old. Usually, it would be next spring before the eyes would push out and start into growth. For whatever reason, this year they started into growth very soon after grafting.

I'm wondering if anyone in a colder climate has had experience in bringing new grafted plants with early growth through winter successfully. Many thanks.
