Rooted rose cuttings-- available

danty

It has been a late but very productive season for me.

After going a few years without propagating any roses I got back into it this year.

I have a new system that is much simpler to do and produces high quality plants in a relatively short period of time.

Here's a list off the top of my head of the ones I have:

ABRACADABRA (Warriner)

ALFIE

ANNE HARKNESS

BEE'S KNEES

CANDY CANE

INTERNATIONAL HERALD TRIBUNE

LAVENDER CRYSTAL

LYDA ROSE

MARGOT KOSTER

SIMON ROBINSON

SWEET CHARIOT

THE IMPRESSIONIST

All I ask is that the shipping costs are paid for -- if you don't have any roses to trade.

Dan, I would love to add any of these to my collection:

    The Gift
    Ann Harkness
    Simon Robinson
    Sweet Chariot

I would be happy to pay shipping or I have a rooted plant of Greensleeves which blackspots badly here so I can't grow it and also Chihuly. I can do cuttings in spring since we've already had a couple of frosts I don't want you to get weakened cuttings...

What system do you use. I have 38 roses and many of my neighbors would love to have a new own root rose. Plus then I could off them here on the exchange My roses are purple. lavender. orange and peach colored. I would really appreciate any input/info that you have, as so far my cuttings are not very successful Thank You, LaDona

My cuttings seem to be a hit and miss affair also! Sometimes out of 10+ cuttings I might get one or two. The next time I may be more successful. Just can't figure out why one time they root good and the next time so bad. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I know this time of the year is supposed to be agood time.

    Hello oldcrafty,
I have a pretty consistent method I have worked out to root roses.
I plan to make up a video tutorial about it.
That could take me a while.

When it is complete I will post a link to it on this forum.

Hi Danty: I would like to trade cuttings with you. My HMF account is "Chicago IL 5a". I'm interested in your cuttings of International Herald Tribune, Lavender Crystal, Sweet Chariot, and the Impressionist.

Thanks for your future instructions on rooting. I'm not sure what rooting medium is best in my humid and rainy weather.

    Hi Strawberryhill,

Yes, I would be happy to trade roses with you.

I need to check all of the varieties you listed.
I think I have one plant left of each: INTERNATIONAL HERALD TRIBUNE and THE IMPRESSIONIST.

The LAVENDER CRYSTAL rooted cuttings are still several weeks away from being ready to ship -- but I can tag one for you if I have enough.

All my SWEET CHARIOT rooted cuttings are gone for this season.

I will also send you this message on HMF just in case.

Do you have cuttings to trade?
Or would you be paying the cost of postage?

    Hi Dan.

I am interested in the following cuttings if you still have them available:

    ALFIE
    ANNE HARKNESS
    BEE'S KNEES
    LAVENDER CRYSTAL
    MARGOT KOSTER
    SIMON ROBINSON
    THE IMPRESSIONIST

I can only offer to pay shipping as I don't have anything to trade unfortunately.

    Sincerely,
    Kate

My little IHT hid a second little bud and I gave it to us as a Christmas Eve gift. I am going to have to check all over and see if it has anymore little buds hiding...want to see it put energy in to growing right now instead.

    Thanks DanTy

Is it too late to send these? Will they freeze in the mail? I have lots of rooted cuttings to trade, myself.

Hello, I would love any you could send me for SASE. Please and thank you, Teri

    Hello Teri,
I don't send out unrooted cuttings.
Only rooted ones -- which are actually small rose plants.

So they won't fit into a SASE.

What I ask is that I get compensated for the shipping costs.
That runs anywhere between $6.00 to around $13.00 depending on the destination and number of plants sent.

I suggest you contact me directly at my e-mail address if you are still interested: profloran@roadrunner.com

    Also, it is mid-Winter.
If you live in a cold weather part of the country you might want to wait until Spring as most of my rose trading friends are doing.

    Let me know.

    Dear Dan,

Would you please consider adding me to a list for "Anne Harkness" and/or "The Lavender Crystal" when such cuttings become available?

I am a novice working towards own root cuttings myself. While I do not have any to offer, I would be more than willing to pay for shipping. Thank you for your generous offer.

Both of mine have a baby white root or two poking out of the bottom of their 1g pots.

I think I will wait a week or so and pot IHT in a bigger pot. I am thinking about just planting Alfi since I will have just finished up the reworking of the front yard beds.

    Hello,
Will you have any of your rose cuttings available this spring? We just moved to a new home and I am starting over....I wouldn't be picky about what the color/variety is! I have never done an exchange before so just let me know how you work things with shipping.
    thank you for your consideration!

Hi Dan, I would love to learn your propagation method if you think it might work here in zone 6.

If I become successful, I could trade:

    Pope John Paul
    Chrysler Imperial
    Sisters At Heart
    Black Cherry
    Julia Child
    Sunsprite
    Peace
    About Face
    Fragrant Plum
    AngelFace
    Bella Roma
    Dream Come True
    Hot Cocoa
    Moondance
    Cinco de Mayo
    Double Delight
    Double Pink Knockout
    Ebb Tide
    French Lace
    Glamis Castle
    Joseph's Coat
    Mardi Gras
    Scentimental

and will have more this year.

Let me know what you think please.

    Regards,

    Teri

Alfie must be happy, a new "little" cane is coming up from the pot!

  • danty

Teri - My propagation method is simplicity itself.
But we can't do much with it right now -- it being Winter with no cutting material available.
I am going to make up a video tutorial this upcoming growing season.
When its ready I will post it on YouTube and send you a link.

Carol -- That's great about the new little cane on ALFIE.
You are going to like that mini. It isn't well known -- but should be with its great color, ease of care and big display.

Thanks so much! I'm new to using this site. Is there a place where we get "mail"? Is there a place on the home page that shows new posts on the threads that one is "watching"?

  • danty

    Teri-
The GW site doesn't have a built-in mail system like other sites do.
But you can send e-mails to other members by clicking on their name and going to their member page.
On their member page is an option to send then an e-mail.
But this only works if they allow for that option.

You need to allow for that option on your member page if you want to receive e-mails from GW members.

I think the ability to track new posts on a thread only belongs to the person who starts the thread.
