News FLASH!!!

| I can not believe this. I had not misted my rose cuttings for the past couple weeks because when peeking through the plastic everything looked like it was dead and perhaps too wet with the mold growing on a few of the leaves.
Well, today I decided to take the containers down and open them up to see if I should pull out some of the bad cuttings. To my complete surprise...a lot of the leaves that had turned yellow or brown had fallen off and there were new buds forming and small flushes of growth coming out of most of the roses.
I am TOTALLY shocked. I would say perhaps 75% are starting to grow. I wonder why the leaves had fallen off? Should I be picking them out of the tubs? I'm so excited and even more anxious for Spring so I can root some more.
Ok, deep breath...I suppose I will have to figure out my next steps. How long do you leave them inside the enclosed tub? When do I pot them up and what the heck will I do with all these roses until Spring. he he....

congrats on your cuttings!! you didn't say if you left just the top set of leaves or more..if you left more, that's probably why the leaves are dropping. as for the dropped leaves, i would get them out..seems like a breeding ground for mold and fungus. what do you do with them?? trade them, of course!! you'll get new roses and meet new people, and you'll have a ball doing it. you can't ever buy roses for the price of a good trade. good luck..donna |

Hi, mine did basically the same as yours. Maybe this time of year the leaves are covered in fungal spores, what with the wet damp weather. Most of the leaves turned yellow around the large veins, then brown then fallen off. I picked up the litter, and am pleasantly surprised like you, that almost each one has a bud starting to grow, or otherwise looks quite healthy and about to send up leaves. It's possible that this is the best time of year to take cuttings, because you can practically cut the whole bush down without doing it any harm, and go to town!!! Paul Mozarowski. |

| I agree Paul, this was such a great way to add to my rose collection. When do you think they should be potted up and is there anything special you do to get them through a long winter without having them die. |
