i am kind of new to the gardening thing but i have a huge rose bush and want to propagate it. how to i take a cutting.

I am fairly new to roses also and like have wanted to propagate roses. I will be trying this spring after reading how to do it on the Hartwood Roses website. It has great pictures and I have visited Hartwood and Connie's method really does work. I have added the link to their website below.

I cut most of this years growth for the winter and am trying something I saw before. Covering the cut branch ends with dirt mixed with compost in my raised bed garden box aginst the s/side of my house. I've seen other things root this way. Will it work for rose's?
