Questions on rooting basics

I've rooted several other types of plants but never roses. When people talk about cuttings are they taking the greeenest ends, removing most of the leaves, or mid section hardwood. I have a miniature that has not gone dormant yet. I'd like to try to root it indoors. I'm figuring I'll set up some old aquariums I have as miniature indoor greenhouses. Any tips or comments?

RE: Questions on rooting basics

Here is a thread with some excellent links to pages with instructions and photos, Good step-by-step instructions for propagating from cuttings?. The technique on Mel Hulse's page is commonly called "the Baggie method".
