new: mnf february swap, my favorite things

beth_b_kodiak

Remember the song????

Raindrops on Roses and Whiskers on Kittens

Brown Paper Packages tied up in strings

These are a few of my favorite things.

Combine that thought with "good things come in small packages"

and you have the theme for this swap.

What are a few of your favorite things that will fit into a SMALL package? Small as in a small flat rate priority box or the flat rate envelope. Either will ship for about $5.00

Start thinking about what you might pick to send. It would be nice to include one recipe for a Favorite Food and a couple packs of seed for your favorite flowers other than that.... it's up to you.

Sign up's will run until the 8th and partners will be announced on the 10th

Mail with DC# by the 18th. Everyone is welcome to join in this swap. 'Hope you will.

First game posted after the tenth sign up........I'm first.

I'll be away off and on over the next couple weeks so make each other feel welcome please if I happen to miss a day or two.

My favorite food is pasta and my favorite bird is the blue heron.

I have gotten some great answers from Sue.
Some are the same as mine some are different but great!!!!
    Love the creativity.
To encourage more of you to try, AND, to get some more NEAT answers I'll do two prizes.
One for the most answers that match mine and another for the most creative garden ideas.
Words will still need to be the correct length AND have the letters Chocolate Snacks in the right places.
    Is that clear as mudddd?
    Anyone object?

Sorry Gang I messed up here.
    #8 IS a plant
    #9 is NOT a plant.
Not sure if the error was counting or typing but wrong either way.
    Here is an update
    1) C_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
    2) _ H _ _ _ _ _ _
    3) _ _ O _ _ _
    4) _ _ _ C _ _ _ _ _
    5) _ _ _ _ O _ _ _ _
    6) _ _ _ _ _ L _ _ _
    7) _ _ _ _ _ _ A
    8) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ T
    9) W_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ E

    1. S _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
    2. _ N _ _ _ _
    3. _ _ A _ _ _ _ _
    4. _ _ _ C _ _
    5. _ _ _ _ K _ _ _ _ _
    6. C_ _ _ _ _ S _
All the _ _ _'s are now in the right places
The extra letters are in place.
      # 15 is something every gardener needs (in my opinion anyway)
#1 is something most gardeners are happy to see
#9 you won't smell and may not see or hear but it is nice to have in the garden any way.
      # 13 think spring
#6 a favorite with many of us.

My trusty proof reader Sue pointed out that on #'s 9 and 15 where I added the first letter I did not delete the space that the letter sits upon.
I tried to place the letter ON the blank but it ended up in front of it.
Sorry for the confusion but many thanks to Sue for catching it so quickly.

Carol, I am glad you like your envy.I had a good time putting it together for you... All of it fit in the small box but the nylon flower, it was a little to big and I didn't want to bend it, so I opted for the large envy.. Sorry about the confusion.. I hope that was ok.. Enjoy!!

just to clarify-- are the answers to the game single words, or can they be phrases? i scanned the directions but my brain is kind of dead and i didn't see anything about it. and if they are two word answers, would the space be indicated by a _ or not?

there are some double words with NO blank space like:
    potherbs

    pottingsoil
    sunnyday
Items 1.2. and 11 may just be visiting the garden.
    #3 old fashioned, fragrant flower
#4 Not necessary but It would be missed if it was taken away.
    #5 popular for fall color

    # 4 is 9 letters.
I'm loveing the answers you gals are sending. Great minds. Great gardens. Great answers.
You all know that AARP says games like this keep our minds sharp. Oh, I forget you gals aren't old enough for AARP yet. Well, keeping your mind sharp works better if you get an early start. LOL

Hear are a couple more clues
    8, 10, and maybe 14 are edible.
    Good luck to all.
We have snow today and I am baking bread. One of my favorite snowy day activities.
Rainy days I make soup. Brownies I'll make any time there is someone around to help me eat them.

Finally, my box went out today. I went out of town yesterday before the post office opened but no problem, I could stop and use the kiosk in the vestibule. NOT, it was frozen. I decided to stop on my way back home this evening and it worked. My dc #03102640000106911385.

Beth, I am an oldie, (54) and have my AARP card. LOL I just get so confused looking at those letters and blanks. :0 Too late for my brain???

I will go try again. Margo

Hey Margo, I have to print it out and tell the printer to enlarge it to be able to tell for sure what I have put on there.
Especially the # of _ _ _ blanks that are there.
Yeah for the AARP card BUT at 54 you are only a bit older than my oldest kids. Keep that brain cranked up.
As for the "math puzzles" that Sue likes..... well I could not have done that at age 20.

hey beth, got my package open and wow, what an after-dinner treat it was! i have already hung the flowery heart shaped wreath on my door and surrendered most of the candy to the teenagers. i love the dragonfly and already have it hung up on this tree thing on my mantle, and it will probably go on my christmas tree :) and bulbs! i love bulbs. i'm guessing some sort of lily? do you know how tall they get?

it was 70 2 days ago and is now snowing. gotta love pennsylvania!

  • suegardens2

Good morning ladies! I am posting before my grumpy DH awakens. I am working on a ceramic tile home improvement project with him on this extended President's Day weekend and I'm not lovin it that's for sure....lol! So today, I'm letting him sleep in, then I'll make him a nice breakfast. You know, the kill 'em with kindness approach. I must admit that I'm not the best helper. Should have taken a tutorial on the subject to help learn the names of the tools used in ceramic tile applications..lol! That way, when he asks for a tool, I won't give him the wrong one.

Beth, I think it's too late for my mind. My brain has shriveled up already. I stare at all of those blanks and say to myself, this shouldn't be so difficult. You should know these answers! Alas, I have succumbed to Alzheimer's at my tender age of ...well, less than 50 years old.
Everyone have a great day. I hope you are having a better holiday weekend than I am, and doing something fun.

We got more snow here in Ohio, too. It was near 70 a few days ago, then temps dropped 40 degrees or so. Freezing rain and snow here. Well, at least the weather isn't boring!

Talk to you later. Have a great day!

Sue, I am going to the kiosk to mail your package after lunch and will come back and post the DC.

Woke up to 1/4 inch of freezing rain which canceled our bus
ride to a casino in Windsor. It is arranged by the casino and only costs 4.50 to ride there and back. They give you $25.00 when you arrive to do with what you want. We aren't really gamblers, we go with another couple more for the socializing and a good lunch in "little Italy".

We are still forecasted for another round which could be up to 5 inches of snow. Chances are if that happens, schools will be closed. Enough is enough already.

Vina, glad you liked your package. Enjoy!

Everyone received nice boxes. It's so nice to see all the postings here.

Beth, you did a great job hosting and I really enjoyed the game, albeit challenging to the old brain lol. I learned a lot doing research for the answers.

Temperatures are higher that last week and all the snow is melting on top of rain. So as you might guess, we are now having flooding issues. Oh well, you gotta love Ohio weather. Everyone have a lovely day.
