| Well, things are off to a great start! I posted this on a couple of other forums as well as this one, and we already have a dozen people signed up. Here is the list from this forum: Socalgardengal I have emailed everyone my mailing address, so if you didn't receive it let me know. It's great to see some familiar names, and exciting to make some new friends too! Please feel free to post any questions here, or feel free to email them to me as well. Bonnie |

| Would love to join please. I'm new and was curious how much postage should I send you for the return seeds? or how many stamps usually? Thanks so much for hosting Bonnie! I am so excited to start growing! |
|

| Hi amiahjordan0! I am unable to email you my mailing address, since you do not have it listed on your profile page. If you will email me, I can send that to you. The postage issue is always a tricky one. I can mail a small bubble envelope here in town and they charge me $1.95 or the equivalent of 5 stamps, but if I go to the next town over, they will charge $1.30 or sometimes less than that, for the same sized envelope. To make matters worse, my post office will sometimes deliver envelopes that were metered in other towns, as postage due, even though the post office where it was shipped from determined it to be the correct amount of postage. I have battled back and forth with them every year, but haven't made much progress. Soooo that being said, I would err on the side of caution and include 5 stamps. If it ends up being less, I can return them to you if you'd like. |
|
| Hi! I would love to join, we love peppers around here. I'm very new to gardening and also to seed saving so I don't know that I would have much to contribute. I have a few rarer varieties from a commercial source but they are from 2011 which is beyond your cutoff. And the only seeds I saved myself from what I planted last year were common varieties (serrano and cayenne), so that also doesn't help. If it's still possible for me to participate please let me know! And if not, I won't be offended. Thanks for considering. Kathy |
|
| Yeah I think I'm in. Got some pepper seed to trade. |

| I am very excited to see so many people interested in growing peppers, and hope to be able to accommodate all that would like to participate. However, the number of newbies that I can send seeds too is dependent upon how many donations, and extras are sent in. It may be that I have to set a Newbie limit, but I don't want to discourage anyone just yet. So those of you that are new to growing peppers, and do not have seeds to share, please continue to sign up, but just be aware that I may have to issue a cut off at some point. Thank you for your understanding! Bonnie |

| I would like to join, I am a newbie too, but may have some common pepper seeds to share. I only do square foot gardening so I don't require very many seeds it would just be neat to have something a bit different then I could learn to save seeds and have more to share next year. |

| Okay, here is what I'm going to do. I am creating two separate lists. One for people that have seeds to share, and a newbie list. For the newbies that I have already sent my address information, go ahead and mail the things on the list I sent you. I should have enough from my own inventory to cover you. For all other newbies, once I get some donations in, I will figure out how many more newbies I can accommodate. I'm trying my best to be fair, so I'm handling it on a first come, first served basis. List of Participants from this site: Sandysgardens List of Newbies: Socalgardengal Spacetogrow and Naturegirl_2007, I have emailed you my mailing address. If you don't receive it, let me know and I'll resend. Thanks! |

| You had a list of peppers not allowed because they were common. What about peppers like poblano, and serrano which are common also? I do have some others so I'm still in. |
|
- Posted by highalttransplant z 5 Western CO (My Page) on Wed, Jan 9, 13 at 2:26
| Yeah, Kevinitis, I get quite a few of those two too, but it's not quite as bad as the other items on the list. I tried to stick with the worst offenders, LOL. Personally, my basic rule of thumb is, if I can find the seeds at Walmart, everyone else can too, and probably already has that one. |
|
| hope i'm not too late! I'm new to peppers too so am a newbie...would love to join if there is enough to cover me...thanks, Dianne |
|
| Love to join. I am new at growing any vegetable but I like to start my garden of vegetables this year. Unfortunately I have no seeds to share but will pay for handling. Kindly email me and advise how much for postage and I will send it along with the baggies. Thank you for the opportunity. PS I love peppers and will love to have regular, sweet, mild but no HOT Peppers lol! They don't agree with me. |

| Good Morning! Starting to receive some envelopes now. Still waiting on a couple of donations to arrive, so if you are on the newbie list, and haven't received my address, just be patient. Look what I came home to on Friday evening! First sprout of the season, Condor's Beak, a purple habanero type pepper. Here's what it looked like last night. Anyone else have anything sown, or sprouted yet? |
|
- Posted by sandysgardens 4MN (My Page) on Mon, Jan 14, 13 at 6:48
| Bonnie - I like that sprout. I haven't sown any peppers yet, have been busy wintersowing my perennials. However, I do have my peppers sorted through and ready to begin sowing them this week. It's about the biggest list thus far, might have to add to my grow room and to my outdoor growing areas......... I've got my seeds ready to send for the swap, but still working on packaging up for the newbies...... I don't get off work early enough to get to PO during the week so will be mailing next Saturday. I sent you an email last week, let me know if you have any requests per my email. Sandy |

| Hi Bonnie, I have another variety question. I have some Chocolate Habanero and Mustard Habanero seeds. Is that something you would be interested in having me include, or are those too common like the regular habaneros? Thanks! |
|
- Posted by highalttransplant z 5 Western CO (My Page) on Thu, Jan 17, 13 at 20:10
| Hi Julia! They are fairly common, but not as bad as the regular orange ones. I think I gave one person the okay to send those varieties in, but can't seem to locate the email at the moment. My email inbox is out of control at the moment, and the free service I use is horrible. The ads cover up the emails where I can't even check half of them. I've create another account somewhere else, but didn't want to confuse things in the middle of the swap, so I'm just trying to deal with it for a few more weeks. Anyway, how about a one pack limit on them. Maybe that would keep it in check. BTW, I've edit yesterday's post to reflect the packages received today. |
|

| Okay, I've changed the email address listed in my GW account, so hopefully that will solve the email issues I've been having. If you have sent me one in the past few days, and I haven't answered you, please resend, and it should go to my new address. Thank you so much for your patience! Here's the updated list of participants from this site: Lorabell (received) List of Newbies: Socalgardengal There's a total of 25 participants now, not counting the "newbies". |

| Good Day Bonnie - Two Bubble Envy's will be departing my PO and heading west to Colorado later today. My postmaster said that they should be on tonights truck to the States PO hub at the Int'l airport and on a plane heading west sometime Sunday!! Sure beats pony express!! I'll shoot you an email later with what's in each of the two envies. There's a bit of extra cash in my return envy, so please use it to cover any postage shortage... Thanks again for all your hard work in organizing such a great swap! Sandy |

I do have a spreadsheet already set up, and have been entering the data in as I receive each package, but it's too early yet to do much sorting. Haven't checked the mail yet today, but if I receive any envelopes, I'll just edit the list I posted yesterday. Hope everyone has a great weekend! Bonnie |

The rest are newbies, and I don't really have to wait on them, since they won't have any seeds in them anyway. | Okay, I thought I would give a little update, so everyone would know how things are coming along. I have received all the seed packages. There are a couple of newbie envelopes still out, but I am busy sorting (on a spreadsheet). Some lists are already complete, and just need to be physically sorted and packaged up. Those participants whose packages had the maximum amount of packets inside, will take a little longer, since it's harder to find things that you don't already have. I had hoped to have everything mailed back out by the end of the week, but I can see now that wasn't realistic. I didn't take into account Valentine's Day, and my two little ones have class parties that I have to prepare for and attend. What I will probably do is send the envelopes back out in small batches. As I have envelopes ready, I will post a list of whose went out. Oh, and I did place a couple of small seed orders for some frequently requested items, so there are a few envelopes that I won't be able to complete until the orders get here, which should be by the end of the week. So just know that I haven't fled the country with your seeds, LOL! And I am chipping away at the sorting every chance I get. I appreciate everyone's patience, and hope it will be worth the wait! Your hostess, |

| Mailed out four packages, two to GW participants, and two to folks on the other website. Now that I've got everything organized, things should move faster. The first couple of envelopes always seem to take the longest. I'll have more ready to go out in the morning, and will post the names once they are on the way. | Greetings Bonnie - Knowing that an envy of pepper seed packets is on it's way makes this chilly winter morning a GOOD morning. I'm excited to be a part of this GREAT Swap and I know I'm going to enjoy growing peppers from seeds that so many people have graciously shared. Hmmm - I wonder how fast that big bird in the sky can fly to get me them seeds! Thanks again Bonnie for hosting and I'll let you know when the seeds get here. Sandy |

| Sandy, you are a BIG part of making this a GREAT swap this year!!! Lots of folks will be benefiting from your generosity. So, thank you very much, and I hope you will be pleased with what you receive back! Sent one envelope out today, but it was for the other website. I have one ready to mail in the morning, and hope to get a couple more done tonight. However, my oldest son starts high school next year, and I have to take him to registration tonight, so not sure how long that will take, or how much time I'll have to work on the swap afterwards. Lorabell/Laura - Ready to mail UPDATE: Well, I managed to get one more packaged done this evening, and the lucky person is ... Naturegirl2007 - Ready to mail I'll stop by the post office on my way to work and get those in the mail. I am off on Friday, so I should be able to knock quite a few out then. |

| I've gotten three more packages done this afternoon, and am hoping to keep working on the swap this evening. My oldest son had a youth group event to go to tonight, but this time the hubby is taking him instead of me. Anyone else find that their kids schedules are way busier than ours were at their age? Not sure which one is more exhausting, the whole diapers/up-half-the-night stage, or the activities director/taxi driver stage of parenthood!!! Okay, back to the swap. Maple_grove - Ready to mail I'll update this post before going to the post office in the morning. Have a great evening! |

| Just don't stay up half the night changing pepper seed packs! Waiting a few more days won't kill me. |

| Bonnie - I received the BEST PEPPER envelope ever in the mail on Thursday and I'm now in BIG trouble with myself. You completely out-did yourself with my envy, causing me to have to start a LOT more peppers this weekend on top of what I've already started. I guess I don't have to start more, but I sure want to and most likely will; and I'll have a good supply to get me going next season! A BIG thanks to everyone who sent seeds in and a BIG thanks to Bonnie for putting this all together. Sandy |

| Sandy, glad to hear that your package has arrived, and that you are pleased with what you received back! It's a big relief to see that first package complete the circle. Of course, it will be an even bigger relief when the final package reaches it's destination! Okay, headed to the post office. In addition to the three listed above, I also have: Spacetogrow - Ready to mail Plus, a couple of envelopes for participants from the other website. I'll work on some more later, but my brain hurts, LOL, and I need a small break. Have a great day! |
|
| Hi Bonnie - I got my seeds today! What a great selection - I can't believe how many items on my wish list you filled! And now I get to sit and do some fun research to learn about all the other varieties too! I have a feeling I'm going to be looking for a lot of new pepper spots in my yard this year. Thanks so much for hosting such a great swap! I can't wait to get some of these going... |

| You're very welcome, Jullia! I am so glad that you are pleased with what you received back! I worked on the swap all afternoon, and only have 5 packages ready to mail. Grrrr!!! The good news is that was the last of the big envelopes, folks that sent in close to the maximum. The rest of them only have a dozen or less packets to swap, so they shouldn't take as much time. Plus, they are already swapped on the spreadsheet, so I am hoping it will move pretty quickly from here on out. Missed the post office hours for today, so the following will go out first thing Monday: Tinley244 - Ready to mail Plus one for the other site. Need to make a grocery run tomorrow before I have a mutiny on my hands, LOL, but if I get a chance to do any envelopes I'll update the list.. |

| Fantastic selection of seeds in the package I received today. Thanks everyone and thanks to highalttransplant for making it all work. I couldn't even begin to imagine making the spreadsheet you enclosed with mine! It is going to be especially fun to grow some varieties that I'll associate with names I've seen here through the years. And many will proudly be grown in our front yard. I'll be replacing the annual flower planting with ornamental peppers! |

| Naturegirl, glad you received your package and are happy with the selection! I'd love to see a picture of your ornamental pepper bed later in the season!!! Life has been extremely hectic for my family the past couple of weeks, so I really appreciate everyone's patience with me. This is the first year since I started hosting this swap, that I was also working, so I should have allowed more time between when the seeds arrived and when I promised to have them back out. I am doing my very best, and have quite a few ready to go out in the morning. There are a couple more that I'd like to finish tonight, but I still have to finish cooking dinner and get the kids bathed, so not sure if I can get to them or not. Here is the list of the packages going out in tomorrow's mail: I'll update this post later if I get any more done. Please be sure to let me know when your package arrives. Thanks! UPDATE: Got two more ready to go: That is pretty much the last of the participants that sent seeds in. The rest is newbies. Won't have time to work on those tomorrow, but will try to wrap them up by the end of the week. |

| Glad to hear that everyone is happy with what they received back! I am down to the LAST THREE ENVELOPES!!! I have 10 ready to mail this morning: Plus the last couple packages from THP folks. It is such a relief to be winding down the swap. I love being able to fulfill wishes! Makes me feel a bit like Santa Claus, LOL, but I am ready to focus on getting the garden ready for planting. Well, as soon as it warms up a bit. Right now, it's 16 degrees outside. It's supposed to reach 50 by the weekend though. Come on spring!!! Thank you, EVERYONE, for participating in the Pick-A-Peck of Peppers swap! Your hostess, |

| Hi! I am in receipt of the wonderful package you sent -- probably a few days late, since I just got back in from being out of state since early last week. In any case, they are here and I'm extremely pleased with what was sent. Thank you so much for arranging this and for being open to folks with limited ability to contribute like myself. |
