UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Hi, players - well, I'm maxed out, and there's good news and bad. Good news: your mailers are stuffed, and in the morning I will zip them, write out DC forms, and take them to the P.O. and they will be on their way home to you. That is, (bad news here) if the snow quits enough for me to do so. I lifted my head out of the seed pile finally and found that after what I thought were flurries all day, it seems we have about a foot (maybe?) of new snow on the ground. Yuck. Not going to shovel until tomorrow.

I'll do a little "superlatives" posting tomorrow - some observations along the way in this thing - when I've had some sleep.

Things I feel good about: a lot of you care a lot about each other, which shows in how you picked out things for others. Hey, be fruitful and multiply - the world needs more of you! Most of you should find some real gems in your packets - yesterday I was sure all of you would, so if some of you don't, please talk to me about it - I think we can make it better somehow. I know I gave this a Herculean effort, and I feel good about that - I'm old enough to know you can't win 'em all, but I sure as heck tried!

Things I don't feel so good about: I really haven't figured out an efficient system for this. The "don't want" lists turned out to be largely superfluous - it was easiest for me to leave what other people sent you alone, so if things were sent in on your "don't want" list, they stayed in your packet. I did use your lists, both want and don't want, when pulling from the undesignated seeds and the seeds I added for you. I'm reasonably sure that all of you have more than a couple of things you really, really want, and I'm dead certain you all have a few that you don't. :)

I didn't write any of the nice notes to include in your packets that I have received from other swap hosts/hostesses in the past, and I'm sorry for that. So many of you sent me very special stuff, and I should have included a note, but concert season is upon me (3 in the next 2 weeks), and I just ran out of time. Please know that I totally appreciate all of the effort and kindness you folks gave; it DID make my work easier in the long run.

I am terrible at seed distribution, too - once I have what I think is a sufficient number for a player, and my eyes are getting bleary trying to figure out whether they will like a seed I'm thinking of putting in their packet, or they like it so much they already sent it LOL, I quit. So, once again, I have 3 shoeboxes still full of swap seeds, many of them frankly too premium to be just shipped off to newbie projects without giving you a shot at them first. So, once again, I will - in a couple of weeks, please! - catalog the remainder, and email you - you can then email me with your choices and I will send them to you, and then bag up the remainder - probably for Wintersown.org, as Karen is winding down her newbie project for the year, but Trudi's is ongoing. If you sent extra postage and/or extra mailers (um, that would be you, Jase & Julie, among others), you won't need to send me anything for the second round - for those of you who get your mailers back & find either you sent exact or not enough postage, I would appreciate it if you send me additional when round 2 comes around. If you need to know what you sent, I do have a record - I keep the paperwork for awhile - but I'm not one to quibble over pennies.

Looking forward to getting back to WSing - but since my location situation is still up in the air, the fact that I haven't done a whole lot of WSing yet may be a blessing if I have to move and find homes for all those containers.

And speaking of blessings - as much as I know I really can't do this again, and must either pass the torch to someone else next year or give TGS a rest, it has been a real blessing for me to do this. In this year of political change, when we are coming face to face with the state of our country and the world, it is breathtaking to think of what one stranger can do for another and another and another...and thereby be the angels and agents of positive change.

Good night, and may you all have beautiful gardens in 2008.

Kim

Kim
I'll bet you did a fantastic job on this swap, in fact I'd put money on it. Life is just too short to sweat the small stuff, next year if you need help give a hollar. Thanks for hosting this one, my hats off to you.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Kim,

I was very sorry not to have made a contribution to this swap, though eventually I was able to salvage and identify most of my seeds. It has been a pleasure to 'chat' with you all and get to know you all a little better. It has also been very nice to be a recipient of so much kindness from 'strangers' it really does reinforce one's faith in the basic 'goodness' of people

Thanks to you, Kim for hosting this wonderful swap, you are a brave and organized person to have undertaken such a project. BRAVO!

I would also like to thank all of the wonderful gardeners who have shared (not only seeds) but also little glimpses into their gardens and their lives.

Good luck and happy gardening to all of you. May the year be full of wonder, no matter what it brings.

Frances

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Kim,

many, many thanks. I give you all the credit in the world. I know what I am and am not capable of. And I could never do a rr with this many people and seeds. I would be a sad mess. I would have to just open envelopes and stuff seeds in it. I'm not kidding either. I would start out trying really hard but when people request NOT to get certain seeds...... I would be lost. (though, as an owner of 15 pkgs of purple cone flowers I understand why you would request not to get any more. lol) With that I will say again. THANK YOU. I can't even imagine the work involved.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Kim - I don't know how you did it all so quickly!! You are amazing! Don't feel bad about any of it!! You took on something huge, and I'm sure you did an incredible job!!!! You are so much more oraganized than I! Thank you so much for all you've done! I hope you get all the WSing done that you want to!!

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Hi, again - due to having to spend a good chunk of the a.m. shoveling 4 ft drifts out of the end of my driveway and having to work this afternoon, only about half the mailers went out today - but the other half will be out tomorrow morning.

Thanks,

Kim

Geez, you guys had a big storm! The drifts are the worst. When they drift here, I always end up with one in front of my garage door in the morning so I can't get out unless I shovel again!

Just think, now you can relax having this out of the way and get back to WS'ing. That's in between concerts of course ~ how you keep up, I just don't know!

I'm looking forward to my package! Last year's package was fantastic. I wouldn't fret one bit over what went into them, not at all. I don't know about the rest of you but I can't keep up with what I have, want and don't want, let alone what everyone else has going on! What is really nice about these group swaps is you get things you wanted but didn't know you wanted them, lol :)

Be sure to give us a posting if you do move. We can have one final theme, "Drippy's New Garden!" and send some care packages to get the new yard going! I've been growing your beautiful crimson red snapdragons you sent in a swap for going on 3 years now. You'll be getting lots of grandbabies and great-grandbabies from all the great stuff you've shared with everyone over the years!

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Yeah, this was a freaky storm, Shimla - half an hour from us they got next to nothing, and we got a foot that drifted into a few feet! I do some teaching at other folks' homes in the evenings, and the side roads here are still yuck. I try to tell myself how good snow is for the perennials, but I really hate shoveling the stuff. If we do move, I may pick up a zone or two and not have to deal with it. Woo-hoo! I'm a heat lover at heart, but OTOH, I live in a paradise community by the ocean, and we NE yankees don't generally transplant too well (although Frances, you seem to have done ok!).

LOL, if I do move, my seeds go with me - and the compost may, too! :) And heaven knows, I have enough seeds to go through 3 incarnations. I thought I'd get rid of many in this swap, but although I contributed heavily, it doesn't seem to have made a dent. I do love those red snapdragons - started a variety last year called Connexion Red, saved a few seeds for myself - if they produce this year coming I'll send you some; they're the best red I've grown so far. I never met a snapdragon I didn't love!

I'm doing up some totals, and after I get the rest of the envelopes posted tomorrow morning, I'll give you the lowdown on how many were sent in - all I can tell you right now is that it was a LOT!

G'night,

Kim, who thinks (maybe...) she should stop talking and go to sleep

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Drippy, don't worry too much about the packages going out. Stay off the roads and be safe and I think that everyone will be absolutely thrilled with the packages they receive. I doubt anyone minds if they get things on their "do not send list." Sometimes something we have not been able to grow before decides to surprise us! I would not even have thought about including a do not send list if you have not mentioned it... We all know it was lots and lots of hard work for you.
Let us know about the leftover seeds. Sometimes I like to put a bigger area together with lots of the same seeds so a type you have left over might work for me... if not, you have a good plan for the leftovers. Will be happy to send more postage (which I probably owe... had no idea you would be sending back way more than what we initially sent...)
I might be able to be hostess for this swap next year if there is not someone with more experience to offer. Will be interested to see the total number of packages sent (I know I will say... "Wow!")

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Kim,
You have done such a wonderful job! Just offering to take on such a task in itself is astonishing to me! I think you are as quick as lightning to be sending the packages out as soon as you are, especially with all that snow! I'm sure everyone will be pleased when they get them. I'm so excited! Can't wait to see what I get(no rush,though,really)LOL...Be safe...Marylee

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

lol Kim
The transplant to the south is a bit of a trial, I found the food was harder to adapt to than the weather. lmao.

The climate shock is definately worth it if you can stand the heat. (I miss snow, but not that much) and we have 10 months of gardening in the south and 2 months off, August is too hot and February too cold. It seems a fair trade to me.

Stay safe and warm out of the snow if you can, I would happily trade you places for a day or two (but no longer brrrrr)

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Woohoo, they are all out! My Marion PO people should get a bonus - they are the greatest. They got a 5-star rating in a recent survey from our townspeople. I got DC for all except 1 - one of the players didn't understand the rules, and sent in a few packets, no bubble mailer, and no postage. Since what was sent in with her name on it was light, I made an executive decision to send the seeds off to her anyway, minus one particular one that had been requested by another player. I included what I hope will be perceived as a friendly note (that was the spirit I wrote it in, not a criticism) of how these things work, and sprung for the postage, but not DC. I do have DC numbers for the rest of you though, if you need them. I think all the packs will get there tout suite, though, as they were metered right at the PO and placed in the big mailbags before my very eyes. Please post when you get them, so I know they arrived safely.

In terms of numbers - everyone who sent in more than 100 varieties got at least 100 back that were different. Any duplicates/multiples sent in were only counted as one. If you received seeds from others that were varieties you sent in - I ran out of time to pull them out of your packs, but they were not counted in your total return. The exception to this would be certain mixes you both sent in and requested - some of you sent in such things as JMG mixes, heucheras and larkspur and received mixes of these things back - judging that they may be somewhat different from what you sent in, they were included. As I said before, everyone got some very choice seeds from other players.

And now, for some "superlatives" (remember, some are just IMHO) and stuff:

Including the 267 packs I picked out for players, I received a total of 5448 packs of seeds. Wow.

Most seeds sent in - like you couldn't guess, LOL :) - Julie_mn, with 771 packs.

Best organization - almost hands-down to Plantaholics. Followed every direction to the letter, and the database printout made sorting the seeds he sent in a piece of cake. And I love love LOVE the use of botanical names - even though I had to look a couple (few? :)) up, it is just so much easier than trying to determine what "African Daisy" is (there are at least 3 different plants that go by that common name, possibly more).

Cutest packaging - Etravia, with valentine packaging - you'll see! She also was runner-up on organization; her printout included everyone's themes, and she got it all on one page - I used it heavily in sorting the general swap. However, Maggie's list only had the general name of the seeds she sent, not varieties or anything, and her packaging was so cute I didn't want to disturb it, so she also wins the "Mystery Seed" award. She addressed everyone's themes, though, so I'm sure you'll like what she sent. :)

Humor award - tough call, but this one goes to Limequilla - she has a great imagination! Julie was a close second on this one.

Variety award - another tough call, but I give this one to Fairydancer, who sent in a ton of named varieties, making hers pretty easy to distribute.

The "Every Seed is Different" award (except for one double) - Naturenut, whose seed packs were all different!

The "From A to Z" award - Sandysgarden, who organized her seeds alphabetically by player, and then organized the players alphabetically. Since that's how I had your envelopes stacked in my boxes, hers were wicked easy to distribute.

The Jackpot award - Micyrey, most seeds sent in with her name

The Cosmic (OO-EE-OO) award - Shimla, who, of echinacea seeds sent in (wish list) and sedums sent in (theme) had all different, no duplicates sent - were you all talking to each other???

One For All Award - Shimla again - second year she's done this - packages up a couple of varieties of her seeds for every player in the game

Best name - Roflol - how cool is that?

Best email - Rbrady - hey Rhonda, I sometimes think 2 kids is way too many! :)

Best recyclables - Claylady - uses tea pouches and instant oatmeal baggies, among other things, to package seeds in. Take that, global warming!

Niftiest little seed packets - Julie_mn, but where does she find the time to make them all???

Prettiest seeds - Annette1964 sent in some lovely green castor bean seeds that I just had to run through my fingers a couple of times. You could make jewelry from them if you weren't planting them.

Most wanted seed no one has - ornamental oreganos - these are on my wish list, too - Thyme Gardens has a package of mixed varieties I may order, but to the best of my knowledge, you can only get specific varieties in plant form at the moment.

Best all around seed everyone has (if you didn't before, you do now) - Bronze fennel - aromatic, edible, swallowtail butterfly host, probably good finch food if you don't collect the seeds for culinary use, and this past year, I discovered it makes a great addition to bouquets.

Seeds we'll drool over for months - selections from Plantaholics - Jase has some really choice varieties, and shared quite a few with us.

Most care taken for other players - ALL of you. Good work, folks!

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

drippy,

sounds like you've spent a lot of time making sure we all get great seeds! I'm really looking forward to getting my package.

I have some ornamental oregano plants if you'd like some. they're constantly reseeding in my flower beds and in the driveway, yet I never really see the seeds on them! anyway, I could send you some in the spring if you want.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

I got an award, I'm soooo happy, Miss Humor is almost as good as Miss Congeniality. I'd like to thank my mother and father, who, oh, wait....it *isn't* all about me. This is where I am thanking Kim for all her hard work and dedication, and, her great seeds! (see, it really *is* all about me! LOL!)

Just kidding, Kim, I don't even remember what I said I didn't want, and it doesn't matter anyway. Like you and the Castor beans, I just like to run my fingers through the little packs. :) Thank you for all your hard work, really, but also for the fun idea of Theme Gardens. I am sad you won't be doing it again next year, but maybe it's like childbirth, and you'll forget how hard it was and how long it took by next June or Sept. :)

I wish you had told us that alpha sorting was the name of the game - I could easily have done that! Darn!

Meanwhile, thanks also to all the participants, and especially Julie, and her 771 little hand folded packs. I hope I get a bunchof them because no matter what's inside I know it's somehting I want LOL! I made about 3 dozen of those hand folded packs this year and hung it up because it was so hard and time consuming, but I would love to know what that paper is -- it isn't anything I've seen before.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Wow, I can't believe you are done already. I think perhaps the best organization award should have gone to Kim! There is no way I'd have finished sorting that much so fast. :-D

Thank you so much for all your hard work in making this all come together.

My sincere thanks to everyone for making my first RR a great deal of fun. Thank you!

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Well ladies (do we have any gents?)... Get ready!!! My package arrived today. Wow that was fast. For all the moaning about the price hikes, I'm still in awe of the postal service and how efficiently it works!!!

The only thing I'm more in awe with is KIM! If my package is any indication, you guys are going to be thrilled!! Of course, Kim sent WAYYYYY too many packets - even though I told her not to. I should know better though. The variety is amazing. I only flipped through the packets quickly, but am really looking forward to going through them slowly and looking up some of the varieties on the web.

Thank you so much to everyone who sent seeds especially for me and my garden....they are truly appreciated. A big hug and smooches to you Kim. I love this swap and am grateful that you spent so much time and effort pulling this tremendous endeavor off.

Happy sowing everyone! Lets hope that groundhog predicts an early spring for us.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Whew! Who knew- 771 packs! I just kept reading wants- and themes and pulling and pulling and stuffing and stuffin.... Till I couldn't get any more into the 2 BIG bubble mailers! That's when I knew I had better stop...
The little papers I use for the folded seed packets are the backs of labels. I work in a clinic- and we use the labels for patients paper work. The blank backs of which fill up the recycle bins- till I get a hold of them that is. As I call patients to remind them of their appointments, I keep my fingers busy while the phone rings and the answering machine answers.... It is "busy work" that does not interfere with real work- It gives me something "brainless" to do while waiting- and saves me $$ in coin envelopes as I do like seeds in paper as it "breathes"- and keeps plastic out of my "loop". Although- I do like how easy and pretty the plastic envelopes look and behave!
How fun! Valentines! Seeds and Valentines! What could be better! Maybe Lime's "Gold Rush" of Rudbeckias headin' to MN...
Thanks Kim- for your Wonderful Theme Swap- your hand picked delightful assortments, your insights into just what makes your swap so wonderful- All your care- and the extra efforts everyone who signed up puts in!
This is one swap I sure will miss..... Even though the break is a well deserved one....
Woo WHOOO! There is an envelope heading my way!

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Thanks for the award Kim!! Now if I could just get my rear in gear and get my seed boxes alphabetized, again!!

I can feel the excitement building for everyone while we all wait for our mail over the next couple days!! I don't think I've been this excited to get a seed envelope in fours years of trading!!

Hmmmm - I beleive I might just have to take a day of vacation the day after my envelope arrives, to play with my seeds!!!!

Sandy

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Yay, they are coming home! Barbi, I would love some ornamental oregano - I'll try to remember to get in touch with you in the spring. Although I don't typically do too much plant trading, I've done some, and been successful - I'll send you a list of what's in my yard when I see what lives through the winter. I bent down a few of my branches from the Nikko Blue hydrangea, and the one I call Sonny's hydrangea - a lacecap - memorial gift to me I don't know the particular variety of. With any sort of luck, I will have a couple of rootings of those. Judging from what I saw on wish lists, I'll bet you get lots of requests after your posting.

It's going to be DAYS before I can get through all of the good stuff you great folks sent me - I peeked a little as I went, and it sure looks awesome!

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

It's been a while since I've been able to be on GardenWeb. Either been sick or computer problems. My son has the computer up and running now, so I feel like I'm back in the game now.

Drippy, thanks so much for all your work. You're just Wonderful! You deserve a BIG HUG and time alone to spend with your seeds. I will double check to make sure that I sent enough postage and will send some stamps if I was short.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

My big fat SASBE just came....oh my God!!! I went through it quickly and I'm thrilled to see what was there. Kim you put alot of work into this swap, and I thank you so very much. Thanks to all that contributed, wow I'm out of words, LOL, which is not something easy for me. Guess I better get my butt in gear and get some soil, usually by now I've got somethings winter sown, this year I'm dragging my butt. Again, thanks to everyone, but especially Kim.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Drippy:

I agree, you deserve an award for organization! I can't believe how quickly you sorted through everything, and your multi-step process is really well-though-out. I can't wait to see what wonderful things are coming.

I love wish list swaps, and yours is special because of the themes--we often get things we didn't even know about, but are perfect. I hope you got a lot of great things yourself, and being selfish, I hope you are able to host this again! Of course, moving to zone 7 sounds really tempting!

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

uh, that would be "well-thoughT-out." I'm so excited over Firefox doing spell-check for me, and I missed that.

Finally back on line and off the windows95 backup! Thought I was going to miss the grand finale! And, spell-checker, what a treat! My backup was so bad that I couldn't go in and fix typos after a preview or I'd crash lol.

Drippy - if you have any choice in the matter, stay by a watering hole! I'm a transplant from Cape Cod and not a day goes by that I don't miss my ocean - and it's been years!

I'm still waiting for my package. I see my neighbor, fairydancer, got her package yesterday so maybe tomorrow the mailman will have goodies for me. I just ordered a bunch of lids for my pots so I'm all set for a planting party this weekend! woohoo!

Lime - if you catch this post, I had a change in ideas for the covers. I think by inserting them into the pots, they stand a chance of flooding since there is no place for the water to run off. I ordered from the site Remy posted. I drilled through my pots (easy) at the top of the rim. I'm going to poke holes in my covers and just fasten with a pipe cleaner. I just put a hole on either side of the pot. It should be secure enough to withstand the wind. I hope it works, the tops are expensive!

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Yippee, yippee, yay!!! I got my package today! Thank you so much for doing such a WONDERFUL job, Kim!!! You are fantastic! And thank you to all you wonderful people who sent me these incredible seeds! I am so excited to carefully go through all of them (I've only had time to peruse just a bit so far!) You are all the best, and I just love this!! I'm so glad I don't have to stalk the mailman any more!

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Wow! What a package of seeds. They kept coming and coming!
Kim, you did a fantastic job! Thanks so much - I love everything!!! Thanks also to everyone who sent seeds in for me - you all are great! I especially can't wait to start the tomatoes! - Lisa

The mailman just left, I am speachless. positively weepy. Thank you all so very much, what a wonderful assortment you have sent to me, I am truly humbled by the generosity of this group. So many wonderful seeds to match my themes (and many many more from my 'wanted' list), and still more I am going to have to look up.

Thank you drippy for hosting and to all of you for participating and special thanks to those of you who sent seeds specifically for me. I think I will have to start a special theme garden just for all of you.

OMG - I am floored. I just got home from the post office with my package. I cannot believe all the seeds. I haven't had a chance to go through them but I'm going off to do that now. I know I'm gonna love it.

Thank you so very much everyone, and especially you Kim, for putting so much care and thought and hard work into this.

Best wishes,
Jase

PS someone asked if there were any gents here. I don't know if I qualify as a gentleman, but I am a guy. I think I'm the only one in this swap. A very lucky guy.

SEEDS
SEEDS
SEEDS
sooooomany SEEDS
Thank you x 26,000
it is snowing here and I could not care less,
let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
I sorted my seeds (once I drooled al over them) into WS, indoor sowing, and direct sowing, and have started soaking the cannas, brugs, and passion vine. cut my finger chipping the cannas but all for a good cause. I planted the hibiscus, chamomile, and daturas.

and I made a special envie for all the vegies for our community garden, I can't wait to take them all over and show Deberah, our CG cordinater, she will be so happy.

I will spend some time looking up some of the seeds I don't know how to start.

I'm so glad I got some more caterpilar host plants, if the dutchmans pipe vine germinates ok, I'm hoping for some pipe-vine swallow tails, and passion vines for the fritillaries, several people sent bronze fennel and with the parsley and dill I have started the black swallow tails will be very happy.

wow I just keep going don't I, sorry to keep jabbering so, I'm just so happy :)

thanks everyone
and a hugh HUG to Kim.

Oh, Kim, What a fantastic job! Thank you so much for the big bundle of fantastic seeds...it just goes to show you that you can have quality AND quantity! :)))))))))

I am so appreciative of your efforts -- thank you again so very, very much! I have to look so many of them up, but I am positive they are wonderful, isn't that funny?

Kim,
YOU ROCK!

You did such a great job on this swap! I hope you do it again next year. This was so much fun. I'm glad my spreadsheet helped you (I love Excel)! Sorry, I'm not very good with latin names, and I could never have fit it on 1 page if I used them! I just hope everyone likes what I sent.
And thank you to everyone. I have so many varieties that I don't already have. I CAN'T WAIT to try them all! So many varieties of everlastings. I'll be making tussy mussies next fall! And so many different kinds of Gaillardia. I didn't know there were that many! Oh, & the salvia's I got! My hummers will be sooo happy! And Sea Holly! I've always thought it looked so cool in the catalogs.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Happy Imbolc, folks! This eve is the celebration of the Celtic cross-quarter day marking the halfway point to spring - yee-hah! I am somewhat a student of comparative religions/philosophies: I find it interesting seeing how Imbolc, Groundhog Day, and often, Lent all occur around the same time. Bottom line being that, although we may not see it in the frozen tundra of the north here yet (zone envy, zone envy!) spring is coming!

I am glad your packages are finding their way home. I was hoping to get some winter sowing done tonight, but it's getting a little late to start, so I may just set aside tomorrow instead. So far this year I have 102 containers done - for a person who usually does around 1000, I have a long way to go!

Why doesn't the whole world get this growing from seed thing? Peace is really not as difficult as we keep trying to make it.

Best wishes,

Kim (who thinks maybe her daughter might emigrate to the UK - *sniff* - and maybe she understands why! :))

Duh, I forgot Passover. Hope, hope, hope - it's such a cool thing. We seed gardeners get it, as we watch to see our little babies sprout.

Maggie, I so love my everlastings, I was thrilled when you picked that for a theme. My Mom & I are making a wreath for my London cousin, who hosted both of us this year, from flowers from my garden. Everlastings are WAY cool.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Oh Dear Lord, thank you for all this wonderful bounty, I hope they will grow in the ground soon. I recieved such wonderful seeds! I can't wait to plant them. I have to get busy and winter sow some more, I only have 30 containers so far and my grow light area is almost full, but I already planted radish and lettuce I planted in Christmas Eve day. Thanks Kim and everyone! Today was the best day and the best seed exchange I have done so far! It was like Christmas and I truly appreciate all of you and your generosity! I am a very happy woman!

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

It got a bit busy here (among other things, I bought the motorcycle) so I've mostly been lurking on this thread. lol on the award, Kim. I'm blushing. ;-)

I should have known better than to fetch the mail today knowing my package was due... as soon as I saw the voluptuous seed package in the box, my work schedule was dooooooooooooomed. Oh well, I have three days to catch up. :-)

I have to say, y'all came up with some excellent seeds, given my difficult (in hindsight) theme. I spent the afternoon and evening looking everything up, and for those of you who wanted to know what was sent for a shade garden I posted it on my Trade List under Plants I Have To Trade (link below)... hope I didn't miss any. I included anything that I found saying even partial shade... a few of them surprised me.

Thanks to you all for checking your seed boxes for my themes and for my wish lists (whittled a couple more off that too - thank you so much!), and for sending things that (oh how cliche but how true) I didn't know I wanted but I truly did. :-)

Thanks, Kim, for all you have done, and you did a great job my friend. I hope it worked out well for you also. Peace be with you. :-)

Terri

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

For anyone that received clematis seeds from me, I just found the name of them, it is Clematis Lanuginosa candida. My plant is 3 years old and its absolutely stunning when it flowers, big white flowers. As anyone can tell I'm really into the "variety" of things, just like plants in general, LOL

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Hello Everyone!
Thank you so much for thinking of me and sending all those sweet gifts of joy! I must say that I was feeling overwhelmed and depressed with the increased amount of care my mother needed. I was also bummed that I missed out on all of the fun here, but you sent me hope. It's amazing how little packages of seeds can carry so much power...it's really the thoughtfulness and generousity of all of you that made a difference.

Kim, you are amazing and wonderful! You have touched my heart with your kindness, thank you!

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Yippee! The seeds arrive today, such a wonderful assortment.
It may take some time to sort through them all, but it's a rainy day here and can't think of a better way to spend the afternoon.
Kim, you did such a great job, thanks!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Wow...oh, wow.... wow!!!
I cannot believe all the seeds that arrived and so many different and interesting ones. All of you who participated - and Kim, you are the greatest! I haven't looked through the packet carefully yet and I know I will be even more amazed once I take a careful look. I truly only expected to get back the number of packets I sent - had no idea this swap would be like finding buried treasure! I can't possibly thank you enough.
Mary, I was like you. I just had one of those days where the bad seems to outweigh the good and was feeling unusually depressed. These seeds lifted my spirit and I am planning to go out a winter sow a few packets NOW.
Thanks so much, everyone!

OMG!!!I got home from work today to find a HUGE envie peeking out of my mailbox! Thanks soooo much to Kim for her amazing (and probably very difficult) work and to everyone for the great selection of seeds. I love ALL of them! You guys are great! I have a question though: Does anyone have any extra milk jugs I can have? LOL! I guess I will be going on a recon mission to the recycling trailer tonight!

Thanks again everyone, and especially Kim! I owe her big time! And not just for the extra postage I know it cost her!

I wonder if I will ever see the bottom of my seed box again?

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

I got home from work and I too had a HUGE Bubbble envelope stuck in the mailbox. Took a bit of doing, but I got that baby out of there without damage! All I can say right now is THANKS and that I love my seeds!!!!

I will be spending tonight with a glass of wine, my Huge seed bubble envelope, a laptop and gardening books to look up seeds that are new to me and then on Saturday a mad flurry of sowing!!!!! I too will be needing to find some more jugs!!!! Hmmm.....

As stated before, Kim you did a great job and deserve a standing ovation!! Also, I think everyone in the swap needs to give themselves a pat on the back for a seed swap well done!!

Happy sowing everyone and wishing you all many blooms this year and years to come!

Sandy

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Thank you all so much. Mine arrived yesterday, but I didn't have time to get online to thank you for being so generous with your seeds. I still haven't had time to sit and go through them all. I plan on spending tomorrow, after work doing that.

Happy sowing, eveyone!!

Deb

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

OMG I have been online looking the seeds up. I did not realize what special seeds you guys picked out. I had to come back and say. I am soooo happy. I have to learn how to collect the seeds from the plants so I can make the next generation of newbies this sappy happy. You guys are unbelivable. WOWWWWW. Hugs and kisses to you all Barb

My package also arrived today! Woohoo!!! Thank you all ever so much! I need to go look up quite a few things that were in my bubbler. I just did the quick 'preview' lol! I can't wait to see what everything looks like. There is a great selection. You did a wonderful job, Kim! I have to go record them into my database so I can really digest it all, you know? I know I saw lots of different kinds sedums :) They are easy to sow so I should have a successful WS'ing venture this year.

This was a really fun swap; I enjoyed it very much. Thanks everyone for sharing such nice things and helping to make my garden beautiful! I'm going to have a shade garden to die for in no time! Special thanks to you Kim for taking the time out to host for us this year again!

My WS'ing flower pot lids arrived today as well. Any guesses what I'll be busy doing all weekend?!!!

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Hello All - My son stopped by and grabbed my mail for me and didn't mention that I had a nice fat bubble envelope. Was I ever surprised when I decided to venture into the dining room to check the mail and there it lay, a big fat seed envelope.

Many, many, many thanks to Kim and everyone. I am in awe of all the wonderful seeds sent in just for me and all the seeds Kim added from all that were sent in. Many Thanks over and over!

Just as most others are, I am spending a lot of time looking them up and figuring out which ones gets winter sowen, which ones indoors, and which ones I plant outside in the spring.

Thanks again

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Wow, I don't even know what to say. I have been on line since I got home from work. Looking up seeds and trying to figure out how I am going to plant them all!! Kim, I got about 3 times what I sent in. Oh my gosh. Thank you everyone sooooo much. I am a fairly new gardener and didn't even know what a lot of these were. What fun to look them up. Kim, I know I didn't send in near enough postage. I will have to re-mortgage my house and send you additional postage. lol. really, I will be sending you some more stamps. It's the least I can do.
Thank you all very, very much.

Hello Fellow Gardners!!! I got my envie today!!! and was THRILLED with the huge selection. Alot of neat packaging, lots of variety!! I had to look up quite a few, what beautiful flowers they will be. I want to thank everyone for the terrific bunch of seeds and a special thanks to Kim for all of her hard work. This has been one of my favorite swaps. Thanks again and I wish everyone happy gardening. Jenny.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

The ultimate success of a swap depends on what is sent in. As much as I have in my personal stash, there is no way I could have covered all the themes/wishes of 35 players if you had not been so caring for each other.

I know the vets sometimes worry that the swap host/hostess will be sacrificing their well-being, so I thought you might like to know how well I made out in this. I pilfered a few seeds from packs that were sent in as undesignated for players, sending on still reasonable amounts for those I felt needed those varieties to fill their themes. This probably accounted for about 4 of the over 100 packs I received - the rest were seeds you all sent in designated for me.

In my gemstone garden, I received gems and jewels (of course), pearls both white and black, diamonds, amethysts, rubies, sapphires, crystal, jade, opal, razzle dazzle, and a Siam Queen to wear them all. :)

In my astronomical/astrological garden, I received various stars, shooting stars, aurora, dawn, rainbow, clouds, sun, moon, Jupiter, Venus, Mars, Virgo, and of course, the whole enchilada, COSMOS.

Thank you so, so much. :)

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Hello Kim and wonderful gardeners,

I got my big package of seeds yesterday or the day before...I am always lost in time. I am still going through the little baggies with a smile. It SO reminds me of little birthday presents or Valentine's from classmates...so caring and personal, such thought put into the themes. So much candy! So much art! It is wonderful to see it all!
Thanks a bunch to Drippy and everyone who made this swap as great as it has been! It is very clear that we are all wildly pleased...hurray!

Happy Winter,

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

You may have seen the satellite images of a large fire occurring on the south shore of Lake Michigan last night--that was me, burning all my seed catalogs after opening up my envelope and seeing what was sent! The timing was perfect, too, as the blaze kept me warm while 8 inches of snow fell on my area!

Seriously, it is astonishing what treasures people share in these swaps. I appreciate every want of mine that was sent in. Some of it was stuff we don't often see on trade lists, the "secret stash" stuff. And people were really creative with theme items, putting a lot of thought into the seeds they chose. One trader--shimla--managed to find one plant that had two family names to it! Thanks, everyone, for digging deep and sharing the goodies! Oh, and thanks for the valentines, etravia and rosepedal! Hugs and kisses to you all!

PS: Drippy, I knew you'd been pilfering; one of my packages of poppy seeds said there were 390 seeds in there, and I only counted 377. I was robbed, I tell ya! :)

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

My package came yesterday and boy was I thrilled!! there are so many seeds that I'm going to need a lot more milk jugs to get my wintersowing done. I'm also going to need a few dozen more flower beds!

thanks to everyone and esp to drippy for hosting.

I hope the seeds arrive in the mail today :) I will be on the lookout for the mail carrier dragging a big heavy load LOL!!!! Don't know what will happen if I have to wait until Monday because of the last several snow storms. The excitement level might not be containable by then :D

And everybody have a "Happy Bird Day!" My bird can say that but I don't know where he learned that from LOL!!!!

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

OOooohhhhh--AAAAHhhhhhhh- and a few A-HAAs too!

Wow- I am so throughly amazed and pleased! "Eh- Drippy- You've done it again!" as Mr. Magoo would say!

Thank you all for finding so many treasures! Many of you must have some kind of super ESP- to have read between the lines of my wants and themes so well!

I will be one busy girlie finding out just how to grow all of these treasures on- and then growing them on to make more seeds (of course!) to send even more seeds the next time around... heh heh heh....

Thank you all again for the delightful treasures- old lost favorites returning again (YESSSS!!!)- and new glittering prizes waiting to burst forth and multiply!

What a treat-

Julie

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Thank you very very much to everybody who participated in this swap and send in a nice selection of seeds. :) It was really fun and hopefully we will get to trade seeds again sometime. :) I just hope that I can find room for all the new seeds in the yard!! Now, it will be even more fun to look some of the new varieties up. :D

))i(( Jennifer

Hey Drippy, I am sorry that I wasn't clear enough for you to find my return address label already taped to the envelope. I feel bad that you had to spend time to write out a new one :(

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Hey, Jennifer, I'm glad you got the seeds - and I bet if I go back through the stuff you sent, I'll find the words "just take off the label with your name, my return label is right underneath" - but - um - sometimes I don't read all the directions, I guess...anyway, I suspect it's "mea culpa", and regardless, writing a new label takes only moments.

Hope you enjoy your seeds!

I am doing a bit of WS marathon tonight!

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

The fragrant white sweet peas will be really nice to plant for a memorial garden for my little bird "Sweet Pea" who was accidentally named "SWEAT PEA" when he was adopted do to one little typo LOL!!!! Later, he was renamed "CHOMPER" because using the word "sweet" was only wishful thinking on my part. He has been gone for over a year and a half but is still missed. If birds evolved from dinosaurs, Chomper was definately a Velociraptor. :)

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

People I haven't heard have received seeds or not:

Annette_1964
Naturenut
Clay_lady
Kelboindy
Mokey
Pattygrow5
Kirsti
Lclear

I'm checking some DCs; hoping I'll hear from these folks, but if there's no posting from them by next week, I'll have to assume they received seeds and will email out the second round anyway.

Go, Patriots!

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

hey all!
i picked up my seeds and am extremely excited for spring to actually have these plants in the yard. thx to all for sending me wonderfully things to try. thx to out great hostess for handling the task. i usually get some duplicates(not that i mind cause i then share with friends and family)but not this time. tomorrow i am going to sow 25 containers. this was a great swap.

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Oh, I have another thing to be thankful for--almost every seed packet had the trader's name on it, or the big baggie did. I've already emailed 2 people with questions about the seeds I got, and I'm so glad to be able to do that! Thank you for putting your name on the packets!

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Checking the outstanding DCs tells me that everyone's packet has been delivered. I am just about done cataloguing the remaining seeds. On Thursday or Friday I will send out an email to the group with the list as an attachment (it's pretty long). Choose the seeds you would like to have, and email me. If I received additional postage from you and/or additional mailers on the first round, you will not need to send me anything - I will just mail your seeds to you (I still have all the addresses). If you sent in just enough to cover the first batch, I'll appreciate it if you send me a few more stamps - I may have enough bubble mailers to cover this (and I'd like to get rid of a few, LOL).

Preferences will be given to those who sent in more seeds than they received back originally; that seems most equitable to me. But there are multiples of most seeds on the list, and many of these are things the 'vets' may already have, so ask away freely - I only ask that you request only those things you think you will genuinely use.

Remembering that there were some problems getting email to everyone in the first round, if you have not received an email from me by 2/9, please email me for the information.
Make your requests by the 16th, and I'll mail them out. Unclaimed seeds will be sent to Wintersown.org for an ongoing newbie project.

Also, I encourage you to update those wants lists - I am still trying to figure out how to get my seed stash reduction side more active than my seed hoarding side, and if I see anything on your wish lists that I have, I'll enclose some seeds for that, too.

Thanks again for playing - and watch your email (spam boxes, too, if that's where my communications go!) for Round Two.

 o

You guys are awesome! I received such a nice package from this swap :) I just got done putting it into my spreadsheet so I can check it off when I've got it WS'ed. I was so excited to start planting that I began planting even before I looked things up! A couple of you were extremely generous with all of the varieties sent in with my name on them. Just wanted to let you know it's very much appreciated! I usually end up with a 'discard' pile when I do a swap but not this one! I didn't even bother to file anything in my seed box, I'm just planting right from the package of goodies!

Okay, I've now had communication from Threeshyacres, Maricybele, and Stagerat as well. You're all being very prompt, which is great. I have printed out every list that came my way, so I have hard copy, LOL!

BIG THANKS to you Kim. You did a super job with the distribution of the seeds. This was my first big seed swap and I was definitely very pleased with it. RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Hi Kim (and everyone else) I am sorry to have not responded to your e-mail. There are a few things which I covet greatly, but I have so many seeds and no sign of a break in the drought that continues to plague the south east, It is all I can do to plant the seeds I have (there is a lot of guilt here) but I never met a seed that I didn't want to watch sprout) I am not a seed saver so much as a seed grower.... thanks to the generous people in this group, my DH is starting to doubt my sanity) and I am starting to agree with him.

"can't grow them all" "can't throw em away"

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Hi, folks - sorry I've been out of touch - we've been finalizing plans here. We are moving to South Carolina this year from New England, and I'm still shell-shocked.

For those of you that have sent second round lists, I will be in touch with you either over the weekend or early next week about what will be coming from your lists (I'm afraid I wasn't able to fill all requests, though I did split packs wherever I could) and any postage necessary (Stacy & Fran, I got postage from you). I am going to mail them out from my P.O. - they meter them for me, and it's just easier for me to do it that way. You can then mail me stamps in a regular envelope (please no money) - I trust you! :) I will probably mail these with DC for my own peace of mind, but you do NOT need to reimburse me for that - that's my choice so I sleep better knowing the seeds arrived safely.

Most, if not all, of you will be getting a lot of the stuff you requested, so I think you'll be reasonably happy. And I will be happy to clean up shop here!

Kim, who is trying to figure out how to take her gardens with her without being a rat to whoever the new house owners are.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Yes, Marylee, I did - sorry I didn't post that earlier.

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

That's ok, Drippy, I was just checking to make sure it didn't get lost. If you need more postage just let me know and I will send some more to you. Thanks...Marylee

 o
RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Kim, I should be fine on postage. I sent a book of stamps the first go around, and my envie was something like $3.30 coming home to me. BUT I can send more postage if you used the extra for somebody who didn't send that much in (originally) if you need me to.

South Carolina...South Carolina.... I am drawing a blank on what I can say that won't make somebody mad, somewhere. The only thing I can think of is: Your winters will be so much nicer! LOL!

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Kim!

Advance, welcome! lol, I am also a transplant from the North!

Lots of new challenges for you! But lots of good news too! 10 months of gardening! You can garden 12 months, but I have found August is just plain HOT HOT HOT! (100F+ is not unusual) Best time to stay indoors and February is very unpredictable. (wet, cool, warm windy, weird) sort of like late March or early April up north.

Snow is RARE, never needs shovelling, melts by midday! (I really miss it sometimes, but a 'call home' usually cures me! No more lifting tender perennials in the fall ! (dahlia, canna, glads). Planting flowers in the fall to have colour in the garden all winter! (I didn't this year because of the drought) Pansies, allysum, Snapdragons, Mums and Asters and other plants that prefer cooler weather.

Love it or hate it, lots of new challenges and surprises instore

Welcome to the South
Frances

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Hi, everyone - the mailers are stuffed & ready to go. I will send them out Tuesday & Wednesday next week. After I determine postage costs, I'll email you with stamps to send. Most of you didn't request scads of things from the list, so many of the mailers are pretty light. Also, there were a few things requested by many, and although I split packs wherever possible, there's bound to be a few things on your list you didn't get. Most of you got most of what you asked for, though.

Postage-wise, I know Julie, Jase, Lime, Alberta, Stacy & Marylee are covered.

Frances, I am feeling entirely schizophrenic at the moment. I welcome shorter winters, longer growing seasons, a supposedly lower cost of living than New England, and adventure in general. As I announced the move to my piano students earlier this week and this is a very small town, the fallout has been predictable and difficult - I'm also leaving a lot of family behind. I think it will all work out for the best, but I will miss my ocean and my New Bedford scallops (we'll be in the NW corner of SC - near the NC border).

All for now,

Kim (who has never been able to teach her NY husband to say "skah-lops" - he pronounces the "a" like "hat" - shudder)

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Kim
I truthfully can not take too much more of these crazy NY winters and am thinking of heading south in a few years. DH retires this December, and I'm seriously considering one of the Carolina's so maybe we'll be neighbors. It's nothing definite yet, just a thought for now, but the cold is hurting these old bones worse and worse each winter. The thought of being able to garden 9 or 10 months a year sounds so wonderful. I need SUN and WARM WEATHER...NOW.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Kim, I'm actually jealous. When my hubby and I visited his uncle in Oregon in 1987, I fell in love with the place (funny to realize now that they have a longer growing season than I do!) and vowed to move there from land-locked Missouri someday, but his parents were alive then (he's an only child) so it was not an option. His mother died in July, and his father just this morning (which is why I'm online, nothing will be normal today I think)... So, not that I think we will be moving any time soon (one child is a junior in HS and would rather live in a cardboard box in the street than switch now), but I am already mentally repainting the interior of the house in neutrals and staging the rooms for resale. :-)

Terri (who wonders if, when Kim rides horses, does her steed "gah-lop" as well? ;-])

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Terri, I am very sorry to hear of your FIL's passing - that is a lot of losses in a short period of time. Your husband must be pretty devastated, and it's hard on you, too, even if it's only for being supportive of him. This is a time you will want the friends you have around you - moving would, in a way, be another kind of death. Yet as time passes, you may find your husband may welcome a change of scenery.

Kids, on the other hand...our DD, who has just committed to staying overseas for another two years (at least), is a little freaked out about the idea that WE are changing homes. Go figure.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Oh, roflol, I'm sorry about your losses. That must be tough on you and your husband. It seems like you're ready for the adventure of a new place, but I wonder if he might need to cling to where you live now as he deals with losing both his parents. Or, he may be right there with you, ready to go. It seems to make sense to delay moving until your daughter is out of school. Maybe the threat of moving away can be an incentive for your child to get really good grades--or else! :)

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Ok, they're off! Spent awhile at the post office this a.m., which is actually sort of a gathering place for this small town anyway. Individual emails to follow soon - happy gardening, all!

Jamie, your posting was a bit too late for this one. The Theme Garden Swap actually took place in January; I was just wrapping this up by sending out some of the undesignated seeds to the players who wanted them. Hopefully someone will be willing to run it next year - watch for other swaps; people run them often.

RE: No bubbles, please!

Round two participants - if you are mailing me postage, there is no need to send bubble mailer - doing this second round successfully reduced my supply without the guilt of throwing them away (I am not packing bubble mailers for an interstate move, LOL!).

I humbly thank you for helping Kim avoid one more "Pitch and B*^%$" item.

:)

My second batch came last night! Thanks again, Drippy! Ooh, I hope the candytuft germinates for me! I was really looking forward to that one, I'm glad it was in my envelope. I have grown it for the past few years but they are always in pastels. I've gotten almost all of my perennials knocked out and getting ready to start in on the annuals in March. Trying to keep the madness down this year but I'm over 200 containers already!

Rest up, I'm sure you're going to have a massive amount to WS your first year in a new home! Have a safe and happy relocation!

I would like to thank Kim and all the participants for sharing the extra seeds from the Theme Garden Swap with WinterSown.Org.

The past several weeks here have been a whirlwind of SASEs; Winter is always a busy SASE season but in comparison it has been many, many more SASEs than a year ago. The surge of requests has left me in great need of seeds, much of my stock was depleted. You can only imagine my joy and relief when I found so many ready-to-go packets. The seeds themselves are a great gift, but having them pre-packed, labeled and ready for sharing gives me the greater gift of a lesser work load.

It is obvious the amount of work that has gone into all these packets--they're all well made, unique and filled generously with a stunning variety of seeds. It will be a pleasure and an honor to share these seeds through the WinterSown Seeds for SASE programs--some are already in the SASEs that came today to be filled.

With deep gratitude and sincerity,

Trudi Davidoff

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Hope you all are still reading this thread - I got stamps today from Barbi (Strmywthr), Rhonda (Rbrady), Monique (Mokey), and Lisa (Maricybele) - thanks!

I see that some of the seeds (I've been checking DCs) are a little pokey - they should arrive soon, though. Terri, supposedly the routing error I made has been corrected and yours are on the way, too.

RE: UPDATE: Theme Garden Swap, Final Update

Second round rec'd today - thanks so much Kim! This should just about take care of the final few jugs of wintersowing I had left; very ready to be done with it :-). Will get the stamps out to you ASAP. For all the gripes I have with the PO, they did manage to get them here durn quickly I think, and for that I thank them; and I thoroughly understand, Kim... I'm not good with numbers myself... words yes, numbers no way. ;-)

Re the move, Kim and stage_rat, that's just been a dream of mine for 20+ years... not going to happen any time soon (if ever). Yes, need to let things settle here I guess; I do tend to cut and run when things get bad (or just turn my music up really loud). My mom and dad moved 80 miles away several years ago (to get out of the city), and now my mom tells me I can't move to Oregon until *they* die... (???!!!) lol. This from the woman who moved away from her whole family in PA to *TX* and then eventually to *MO*. lolol. And she's only half kidding when she says I have to wait. Sooooo, here's hoping I survive long enough to move to Oregon. :-)

Anywho, thanks for the kind words, and again thanks for the great swap and the great seeds. Best wishes to all.
Terri
