Now is a perfect time to ship comfrey. dig the plant up, cut the roots into two to three inch pieces. preferrably roots about the thickness of your finger. pack in moist newspaper. plant them 2 inches deep laying on their side. water them in and water daily untill they get big. happy growing it is a weed here.

If you haven't shipped your comfrey yet, don't worry,you can't kill the thing even if you were trying to!
Evenm a tiny fragment will grow into a plant that in no time will spread every where. some use it for that purpose to breakup hard uncultivated soil, and they do,some use it for compost , and they do produce a lot of leavess for ever, so make sure you have it in a contained area. i made a kistake to put mine at the edge of my veg. garden thinking I'll never enlarge my garden to that point , but of course i did, and the comfrey clump finds itself right smack in the middle of it, and I cannot for the life of me gwet every peice of root out so I struggle and pull off all the sprouts every week, like dandelion yup, my fault really...Chris

Thanks so much! I forwarded all your tips to the lady who offered me some and I got the package yesterday. I am so excited! The plants were nice and damp and the leaves were still nice and green. I soaked them in water and put them in dirt last night in containers just until they get a good start then I will take them outside. We aren't out of the woods with frost for a couple of months yet. I am glad to find out that comfrey is hard to get rid of--I guess if I some how manage to kill this I will have to find a new hobby!! Thanks and have a great week!
