I did not realize that we were getting this close to Easter. I'm mailing mine today so I can start on the annual home made peanut butter eggs routine. We used to make these as a fund raiser at Church but since I no longer go to that church kids and grand kids figure it's up to mt to still make them. Fun but messy and SOOOOO much temptation!!!! BB

Dee! You've got to quit hiding in those bushes! And I don't even want to know what you were doing, okay? LOL! I heard from Melinda (ilovefarac) today, and she won't be playing with us until probably the Fall (I'm thinking someone has come down with a serious case of Spring Fever). So, here's our list of players, and the status of everyone... dan_the_mailman (me) hosting beth_b_kodiak (Beth) sent micrey (Michelle) received hazelnutbunny (Melissa) received lindaruzicka (Linda) sent faintheart (Dee) sent pennijanine (Penni) received gmom2-6boys (gmom) received robin1962-2008 (Robin) sent sandlapperrose (Jeanne) received As soon as the last package gets here, I'll be divvying up the quilt blocks and getting it all back into the mail. In order for there to be some surprises in your packages, I've decided to not post any more pictures. Whine, beg, and whimper all you want to, but Papa says NO! LOL! You shouldn't know everything Santa is bringing you, so if there's any whining or crying, I'm gonna turn this bus around and take you all home! (Talk about mixing my metaphors!) Hugs & Sunshine to You All!!! Peace.

- Posted by beth_b_kodiak zone 7 (My Page) on Tue, Mar 30, 10 at 19:18
they are great and easy but need a heavy duty mixer. blend 1/2 cup butter with 8 oz Cream cheese. Both at room temp before mixing. Mix in 2 lb of powdered sugar add 1 tsp of vanilla and 1 1/2 cups peanut butter mix very well. chill for at least one hour form into eggs and then chill again. Melt choc chips in microwave or double boiler and dip eggs one at a time. I do one side and chill a while before doing other side. These need to be refrigerated to cut nicely. I like to eat them at room temp as they seem to have better flavor but if it's warm, they will get soft. Obviously NOT diet friendly. LOL

Melissa! What did you do??? Didn't we just change that diaper of yours a few days ago??? Man, when they say 10-18 pounds, they're not kidding! That's really all they'll hold!!! Okay you kids, I'm gonna have to leave you alone for awhile, so don't get into too much trouble (coming from me, that should leave you all plenty of latitude!) My computer crashed last night, and it's all over but the burial I'm afraid. Luckily, the local library is semi-close, and has a decent computer center I can use. So, I'll be checking in on you and your shenanigans every couple of days and updating you on what's going on here at my end. Now, here's a 5-gallon bucket of rocky road and some spoons. Enjoy! Peace.

Can we have Oreo's with our ice cream? I have been craving Oreo's like you would not believe! And all I can find at the store are the peanut butter or chocolate filled ones, but all I want is the plain, old fashioned Oreo's. And a tall glass of milk! (which is the only way I'll drink milk, I hate it otherwise..) Oh, and those darn pop-ups on the page aren't helping, either! GAH!

Beth, I don't understand it either. I've looked around the office and asked around, but no one here has seen your package. What type of package did you send... manila envelope, priority box, ??? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll get here soon... I did however, receive a package of quilt blocks from Dee today! She even included quilt blocks depicting Bump and Stella in the window looking at the birds. I wish I was using my computer, then I could show you what they look like. Dee, they are just too cool! Thank You!!! And now here we are... As you can see, we are just waiting on blocks from Robin and Beth to arrive, and then I will be filling your packages with new quilt blocks and sending them your way. Everyone keep your fingers crossed while those two packages make their way here... And Melissa, if you want oreos, then yes, you can have oreos with your ice cream. I've even got marischino cherries for those who want them. It's been in the 70s hereabouts lately, so yesterday I grilled chicken with a caribbean jerk marinade. There were leftovers, so today we had chicken again, but I made a nice fruit salad with lots of coconut and cool whip in it. MMMMM!!! Bananas, strawberries, m. cherries, pineapple, and watermelon, all mixed up with coconut and cool whip! Want some? Everyone have a great night! I'm heading back home for some fruit! Peace.

Dan, Sorry to hear about your computer. When you can include pictures once again, please post the block that Dee made with Bump and Stella looking out the window. I know we would love to see it! Glad you are getting to enjoy the outdoors. It is close to 90 degrees here. I worked with my winter sowing containers for awhile today, but afraid to transplant anything with the heat and sun being like this. I suppose it will cool down a bit in a few days. Jeanne

Dan they were in a large padded envelope sent by First Class MAil. We have had a sub on several times the past two weeks and he keeps forgetting things, like he leaves the outgoing mail in the box with the flag up. Or carries packages around for a couple days be cause he "forgets " to leave them. I'm gritting my teeth here but it does not help much. Other than that, things are going better. We are both beginning to get over the "Krud" that has had us coughing and hacking for ten days now. The clinic told Jack it lasts about 3 weeks so if we can beat it in two, we must be ahead. Right? Our neighbor brought us a huge bag full of grapefruit so we are tanking up on nice fresh Vitamin C. Hope each of you have a beautiful weekend and Linda and Bunny stay out of trouble. hugs Beth

Beth, I just sent you an e-mail thru the GW. Let me know if it makes it thru to you, okay? So, I'm cruising the internet and see something that catches my eye. It's a little ditty about straw bale gardening. So I check out a few websites, and get a bit excited. I think I've found my experiment for the summer. Here's what I've gleaned. Read it, and let me know what you think... Straw Bale Gardening

Hi all! Glad the blocks arrived, Dan! I have heard of straw bale gardening but never tried it myself. If you decide to do it, you will have to keep us updated on how it goes. I wonder if the bales would be a paradise for lil furry critters? Beth, hope your package finds it's way to Dan's. I know it can be so frustrating but will keep my fingers crossed. Not long ago it took 14 days for a letter from my office to arrive at a client's just 8 miles away! Ok, I best get busy. I'm going to make Danish fruit pastry as family is coming by later today. hugsss,

Beth, I got your message, and yes, like my roommate said, the post office will be open on Monday...(sigh!) I do have one question for you though. With the trouble you're having with your new sub-carrier, will you be taking your package to the post office on Monday? I also had another thought, when you can, talk to someone in charge at your local office and ask them to look in the vehicle your sub uses to deliver the mail. I'm wondering if your package hasn't slid beneath his/her seats and is still lurking there, waiting to be noticed. With the troubles you are having with this person, I'd be sure to point out what's been going on with your mail to someone in charge. There is absolutely no excuse for the kind of service you are receiving. If you do not get any satisfaction at your local office, continue to go up the chain of command until you do. Recently there was a customer in my office (thankfully not one of my customers!) who first called our office because of a missing package, and wound up calling senators, congressmen, and even the office of the postmaster general. And let me tell you, she had her package in her hands that afternoon because there were a lot of supervisors who like their jobs, and they searched until it was found. Once you've sent your 2nd package out, please let me know how you sent it, and in what kind of package, so I can alert my mail carrier and the two of us can be looking for it. So, here's where we stand at the moment everyone... Now, there were seeds sent in, so what I'm going to do is list them here for you all to choose from. If you see any you'd like, please list 3 choices. Later in the week, I will use your lists to decide who gets what, with everyone getting at least one packet of seeds. So, here's the list... HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!! Peace.

Jeanne, I got your e-mail. I can totally relate! Peace. p.s. Oh, some of you may notice by the time stamp on this and some other postings, I'm not at the library. I've got my computer back on it's legs again, although it's walking with two leg casts and on crutches. At least I can communicate from home again, right! I'm now saving up for a new tower, and crossing my fingers each time I try to use this silly thing. Peace

Actually Melissa, it says "Timbuktu"... The funny thing is that I'd just mentioned to a friend this morning that, with Beth sending out a new package today, the first one would probably arrive today or tomorrow... which would be a definite "Murphy's Law" moment! My mail carrier called me from the office to let me know I'd gotten a soft manila envelope today and wanted to know if it was the one we've been looking for. When she told me it was from Beth I told her that it was the ONE, and I went down the hill and got it. How cool is it that she did that and I was able to call Beth before she sent out that 2nd package? And now, with my errands of the day all done, I get to go through all those beautiful quilt blocks and get them on their merry way! If they don't make it into the mail today, then I'll take them with me when I go to work in the morning. Have a great Monday Everyone! Peace. p.s. And, since no one has spoken up for those seeds, I'm going to go ahead and plant them out at my folks' place. I know Mom and Dad will enjoy them. And Linda, Mom packed that brooch you made for her and took it out to Minnesota with her. They're visiting my sister for a couple of weeks, and Mom said she wanted to wear it when they went out. And now, on to the quilt blocks!

Okay, all the packages are sealed, and I'll be mailing them out tomorrow. But wait, there's more... When I was finished sealing up all the packages, I found 3 extra quilt blocks. When you get your package, count how many blocks you received back. If you did not get the same amount of blocks you sent in (1 extra for Jeanne and Dee) then please let me know. I will put these blocks in the mail to you, and we can all live happily ever after. And, having said that, it's on to watch The Big Bang Theory. That show cracks me up! G'nite!
|
YAY quilt blocks on the way!! a little off topic but the quilting round robin is finnished and everyone has posted a pick of what they got back in the mail, it was so much fun and I learned a lot. most of all I love the quilt I got back from my new friends. this is the one where we sent out a quilt block as the center and each player added a border. can't wait to get my blocks

While waiting, I dug out the blocks that I have from the first swap and the extras that I have made. It looks like when the new ones get here I'll have enough to do a full size top. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y207/bethb4/January 2007/quiltblock sfromGWswaps001.jpg I has planned on brown or green sashing but now, seeing how this looks.... I'm leaning to green. Maybe a light batik with several shades of green. What do you think???? well, rats I can't get the picture to open.
|
- Posted by hazelnutbunny 7A (My Page) on Tue, Apr 6, 10 at 17:46
I think the green would be nice, Beth. Or a batik with green & brown- kind of a mossy look. There are even some really neat batiks with greens & grays that, when used in between the blocks, reminds me of a rocky garden path. I am thinking of doing mine in black to make all the different fabrics really pop out. I've never used black before, and usually don't like it, but I've seen several quilts lately that have been scrappy with black borders/sashing and it really makes everything look dramatic.

I second your feelings of incompetence, Beth! LOL Especially since I don't have a machine capable of quilting large items, and I don't have the patience to do it by hand! So I usually tie all of my quilts...which is OK...until you see some of the work that others have done on their quilts...BY HAND!!!!...and then you think, "well..phooey. I feel like a preschooler!!" LOL Oh well. :) (and I love that daff fabric in the center block, BTW! So pretty!!) I'll tell you what...the days are literally DRAGGING by. Why do the first 8 months go so quickly, but the last one lasts forever?? UGH. But other than that, things are going well.

Melissa, did you do something to get the Easter Bunny made at you or something? Yesterday my mail carrier told me I'd received a package in the mail, so I rushed home, hoping it was my new coneflowers from whitehill nurseries. NOPE! It was your quilt blocks, which I'd sent out the day before! Lo and behold, your package was the one package I forgot to change the address one, which meant I sent it out to myself! Hmmmph!!! So, the absolute first thing I did when I got home was to make a new label, with YOUR address on it, NOT MINE, and got it back into the mailstream this morning. If it comes back to me, I'm gonna hop on a plane and deliver it personally, putting it directly into your hands, whether you're in labor or not! LOL! and the saga of Melissa and her quilt blocks continues...

Hello everyone, I got my blocks yesterday but I wasn't on the computer to post. These blocks are so nice. I'm thinking of puting them together with a black borders. Thanks to all. Beth, your blocks look so cool spread out like that. I haven't done that yet to really look at what I have. You should have seen my first attempt of tying my quilt for my room. It was done on a frame and all rippled and not smooth. So I took it all out to start over but have not done it yet. I love Quilt shows and feel like a failure because my attempt at quilting doesn't come out like what I see. I've only been at this about 3-4 years so I have a lot to learn. When I moved here I was a seamstress and figured I knew everything. BOY! Was I wrong. Melissa, that round robin sounds like fun, when does it start up again? Thank You everyone I love the blocks.

Beth, thanks for posting the pictures. That is so pretty! The colors all work so well together. We finally got some rain last night so I need to check on my plants. Hope not too many in containers tipped over in the storm. I think our normal rain days may be over until Fall. Everything we get now will likely be thunderstorms. | I DID receive my blocks today and thanks so much! They are lovely. I got the split rail fence block made by Dan (for winning the contest.) I love the colors in it! Also, an appliqued block which I think must be from Michelle and that is so pretty, too, and 9 Patch Tulip with a lavender flower made by Beth. Beth, I will need to try making that block. It looks like fun. Love them all! Thanks for being our host, Dan. Jeanne |

Cool! I'm glad to see y'all are starting to get your quilt blocks! There's quite the mixture, isn't there? Don't forget to count the number of blocks you received, and make sure you received the same number you sent in, okay? I've still got these 3 extra here, so I know there was a mix-up somewhere along the way. If you are short on your blocks, please post here so I can get them to you. ***dosing Melissa's fingers with pepper*** Mel, don't you know chewing your nails is a bad habit? Now, stop that!!! Hugs, Hair-Mussings, and Purrs to You All! Peace.

gmom, the blocks are by Jeanne, Penni, and Dee, so I'll send you the one made by Jeanne. can you send me your address again though? I've got it in a file on my pc, but with it acting so strange lately it won't allow me to access the file. this thing is definitely either getting replaced or going in for surgery! grrrrr! but, if you'll e-mail me your address, I'll be able to open the e-mail. now, is there anyone who hasn't received their blocks yet? melissa? everyone have a good day! peace.

***doing a happy dance*** gmom! I've got your block all sealed up and ready to go into the mail tomorrow! after asking you to e-mail me your addie, I took a chance on the computer and tried accessing that file of gw addresses. well, that didn't work, but then I thought of how aol is kinda, half-working for me, so I checked in my saved e-mails and there was one with your address in it! I usually delete those once I've input the address into the gw file, but thankfully I forgot to do so this time! lol! so, the envie is all addressed, and I'll be mailing it out tomorrow. so, in the paraphrased words of the Monkees, your 10th quilt block is now saying "here I come!" -dan
