Remy~ Do you remember those "sticks" that you sent me back in September (I think it was)? :O) I just wanted to tell you that all but Long John Silver made it. The other 3 have leaves & are looking quite good, all things considered! One has even branched out, and is about 12" tall and 6-8" wide.
I have them growing behind my laundry room, so pretty soon, I hope to have the backside completely covered by blooming pretties! :O)

    Melissa,
Too bad about the one LJS, but I'm glad to hear the others are good. They made it through one winter, so they are good to go now! Don't worry, not this year(though 12 inches already!), but a couple years from now, you will have a wall of roses.
I do plan on rooting more this year. I'm going to try to get them going sooner, so they all have extensive roots, not like last year where some had more than others. I'm still baffled by that, but now I know.

    Marie,
"suppose to start warming up some time in May" LOL. I know how you feel!

    Gale,
I went to the nursery to get soil yesterday, and I had to do the same as you, look away, lol!

    Theresa,
As you can probably figure, I'm jealous of you. What I would give to be sore from gardening right now. I'm not sure I should of wrote that, I'll probably have some horrible garden mishap once I finally get out there, lol.
    Talk to you all later,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice for starting a craft and seed round robin. I was thinking about having a limited amount of people and starting the box out with crafts I made and some seeds. It would go down the line for each person to take what they want and then come back to me at the end. Do you all think that would work or would it end up MIA? Thanks for your thoughts. Amy

  • sandlapper_rose
    last modified: 9 years ago

    Amy,
The only Round Robin like that I participated in was one that had a Victorian theme - Victorian crafts and flowers (seeds for those flowers that would be grown in a Victorian garden.) It went very well and people put in great seeds and made wonderful craft items. I can't remember who it was who was hostess, but she kept very careful control over it and we had to tell what we took out at each stop and what we put in. I think most people took a digital picture and posted it before remailing so eveyone could see what was being sent.
I have not participated in one that ended up MIA but sure have heard of that happening... not with Our Bloomin' Friends! I don't want to suggest that... just in reading through various Round Robins have seen people post that it happened.
Good luck if you decide to do that.

    Amy, (a little OFF topic)
I have a tote bag that you hand sewed from a previous craft RR and LOVE it (palm tree pattern on one side/blue, brown pebbled fabric on the other side). Jenell (Lunamoon) hosted the swap. It turned out well, everyone exchanged crafts and Jenell seemed happy with the RR. I know I really enjoyed it!
Netta hosted the Victorian RR (seed/craft) that Jeanne mentioned, and that went VERY well too! Everyone added such nice items to the box it was so hard to choose what to take! My only advice would be is to check the feedback forum for each swap participant. Also, make sure that delivery confirmation is mandatory. So you can track the box at all times.
    I know I'll sign up!

My box went out today for Theresa! USPS #0307 0020 0003 4320 4954.

    Marie,
I'll post as soon as my box arrives! I'm really looking forward to it! Thanks for the "Bee" items too!

    Gale,
I hope you got your box. It said it was delivered. Hopefully, you got it, and have just been away from the computer.

    Amy,
Glad to hear no tornadoes out your way.
Some of the best RR boxes were run by people who were up front about being picky about who joined. Checking the R&R forum and/or asking for references is not a bad thing in my opinion. I was contacted one time by a person running a RR asking about a potential participant. I gave a thumbs up for the person who happens to be a bit quiet, but a very good trader.

    Maryanne,
There was something I was dying to tell you earlier, and now I can't remember what it was, lol!

    Have a good night everyone,
    Remy

    Maryanne,
LOL! I just remembered!! The finch feeder, I got it up, and the finches love it! I'll have to take pics on a warm day when I can sit for awhile to get some good shots.

    Hey Everyone!

Boy is it windy here today, but I'm not complaining, considering Missouri and other areas terribly hit by flood waters. I can't believe how much is poking out of the ground. I dug up so much stuff last year and put it in pots just in case I moved and it looks like I'm still here Can't go yet, stuff is happening (soon) I hope.

Remy, I look forward to seeing pictures. I forgot one other type of feeder, so one of these days, it'll show up at your door. I'll wait until I have some other things to send.

I took my mother out to dinner last night for her birthday. She wanted to go to Red Lobster. I'm a real food snob and I'm not big on chain restaurants, but my goodness, what an excellent meal we both had - from soup to nuts. I even started with a drink (Brandy Alexander). That's not something people make well but dang, if this bartender didn't hit the nail on the head. If I wasn't the driver, I would have had a second.

    Carol, are you ignoring me?

Amy, I used to do some of the different round robins. Some were good, some were absolutely excellent and some were a complete bust. You have to set the tone, be really involved and set the rules and make sure who you are playing with is a respectable player. I know everyone has to start somewhere, but like you've already been told, read the forums and I'm sure you will recognize names when people begin to sign up. I love the craft idea. Luna used to make great earrings and always included them in these type robins.

I'm just looking over the themes for the upcoming OBF swaps and they sound like fun.

    Hope everyone is well,
    Maryanne

    Hi All,
I got a couple messages from Gale. After the first one she tried to post here, but was having trouble. Anyway, she didn't get the box! It is on its way back to me. The post office over her way messed up!! Once it gets here, I have to take it back to the post office so they can re-send it! Well, at least it is cold out. The couple plants I have in there I'm sure are just fine. If it was summer, I would be really POed.

    Maryanne,
It is nice to hear you have a good dinner at Red Lobster with your mom. The last time I was there with Gary(someone gave us a gift card) it was not so hot. Brandy Alexander! That's not a common drink. It is yummy though. Humm...I wonder, maybe that helps the service. One time Gary and I finished Christmas shopping and had extra money left over, so we went to the Fridays in the mall and splurged with the extra cash. We ordered Champagne and had the best service and meal ever from a Fridays.

Jeanne, Remy and Maryanne, Thank you for the advice, I think I will get busy crafting and see what I can do.

A man was blissfully driving along the highway, when he saw the Easter Bunny hopping across the middle of the road. He swerved to avoid hitting the Bunny, but unfortunately the rabbit jumped in front of his car and was hit. The basket of eggs went flying all over the place. Candy, too.

The driver, being a sensitive man as well as an animal lover, pulled over to the side of the road, and got out to see what had become of the Bunny carrying the basket. Much to his dismay, the colorful Bunny was dead.

The driver felt guilty and began to cry.

A woman driving down the same highway saw the man crying on the side of the road and pulled over. She stepped out of her car and asked the man what was wrong.

"I feel terrible," he explained. "I accidentally hit the Easter Bunny and killed it. There may not be an Easter because of me. What should I do? "

The woman told the man not to worry. She knew exactly what to do. She went to her car trunk, and pulled out a spray can. She walked over to the limp, dead Bunny, and sprayed the entire contents of the can onto the little furry animal.

Miraculously the Easter Bunny came to back life, jumped up, picked up the spilled eggs and candy, waved its paw at the two humans and hopped on down the road. 50 yards away the Easter Bunny stopped, turned around, waved and hopped on down the road another 50 yards, turned, waved, hopped another 50 yards and waved again!!!!

    The man was astonished.

He said to the woman, "What in heaven's name is in your spray can? What was it that you sprayed on the Easter Bunny?"

The woman turned the can around so that the man could read the label.

It said: "Hair spray. Restores life to dead hair. Adds a permanent wave.

    Happy Easter Ladies!!!

I absolutely loved it! The rocks are a wonderful addition and loved them! Also love the spiced friendship tea. Been under the weather for a week or so and it was good to sip on. Thanks for a great box!
Shirley, I haven't forgotten you! I have everything here just haven't felt well and am behind. Will be trying to pack up this afternoon or tomorrow and will be sending. Do apologize for it being so late! Melinda

    Hi All,
I hope everyone had a happy Easter. It was very nice here. We had an Italian/Polish pig out, lol. I over ate big time.
I got home today and there was a box, a bit bigger than a large priority one, waiting for me, but it had a commercial address. I was baffled at what it could be. I won a box full of Hallmark Ornaments! I was a second place winner from some promotion at Christmas that they had.

    Theresa,
    Not you too!

    April,
    LOL!

    Anita,
Nice to see you post! Hope all is well.

    Talk to you all later,
    Remy

    Gale,
I got your box back on its way! You better get it this time, lol.

    Maryanne,
They had a use your hallmark card and enter(or enter online without purchase) to win. As you probably know I use my card a lot, lol! I don't know what first place was. I'm better off not knowing so I can't be disappointed, lol.
The box contained the whole Kringlewood Farms collection. It also included Mischievous Kittens, Cool Decade(2007 ornament), Coffee Lovers' Tree(This is cute. It is tree made of coffee mugs.), 2007 Snowball and Tuxedo(polar bear and pengiun) series ornament, Puppy Love, and 2007 Mary's Angels series ornament.

    Shirley,
How exciting! I'll let you know when it gets here.

    Susie,
Good to see you post! : )

    Time to go make dinner,
    Remy

Hello ladies and happy every Holiday I missed.
To those of you who do know me, I am back and mentally back on track (I think). To those of you who don't, well I was I am a member, love everyone here. Went away to do some great mission work and had some very tragic things happen.
Many hours of therapy later, and actually returning to the Dominican I think I have healed, I am not bitter, sad, or frightened to leave my house any more.
I am able to talk about it and I feel that I can share with postive feelings now.
    But enough of that.
Am I to late for April? Please tell me that I can play in April?

Max is 4 and we just looked at Co-op preschool. HE is a mama's boy and didn't want to go to big boy school yet.

Maryanne~ I have a box for you that I need to send, but um lost your address.. So Merry Christmas when it comes.
Ahh. I just don't know what to say or who to say it to because I am scared I will leave someone out.
I tried to read as many posts as my brain can handle, but I am sure that I will need some help.
Babies and ornaments, tornados and ahhh.. I am not in Kansas anymore.
Please feel free to email me with any personals that you'd love to share.
I apologize for being gone so long. If there is anything that you want to know email me. If I need to re-join let me know if there is room.
Mayanne_ my big sis.. I hope all is well, miss you and thanks for all your support thru this, even though I was a bad lil sis and became an introvert.
But guess what? I am back and better.
    Missed you all

    Hi All,
What a day! I worked 1/2 a day, got home and found my box from Shirley waiting for me, but I had to hurry up to get ready to go to Plantasia(the local garden show) with my sis-in-law. We had fun! Here's us being silly in the kids' garden area.

    I'm the butterfly.
So I finally got home uploaded the photos and got to open the box! Lots of irises, etc. as you all know : ) That in itself was very exciting to see them all. Plus Shirley added a window birdfeeder. On top of that she added a beautiful journal and photo frame. They are both so pretty. I am always needing photo frames so that was especially psychic! What a great box! : ) Thanks so much Shirley! I love it all.
I've had such a good and lucky time with things lately. I sure hope it is to make up for all my very bad luck a couple years ago, and not that April will be horrible, lol.

    Gale,
I'm glad the pkg made it this time! : )
I'm also glad to hear your hubby loves maple syrup!
    Have a good night everyone,
    Remy

Laura-What a pleasant surprise to see your post. You just never know when an old friend will re-surface. LOL
I guess that is why we should always keep an open mind about someone joining back in at some point. I thought Max was around 4 now because my GDS will be 4 in May and I knew they were about the same age. Please post a picture of him when you can. Are you still doing the beautiful jewelry? I know many of us have a piece of your jewelry.

Remy-So glad you received your box, have fun with all that planting. I have one of the picture frames like I sent you and just love it. They were made in India. I have never seen such a cute butterfly. LOL

LAURA! I'm so glad to see you post! (It wasn't there last night when I posted.) Welcome back : ) I was just thinking of you. I don't think April's stuff isn't up yet so don't worry about being late : )
Yes, as Shirley said it would be nice to see a pic of Max now. I'm sure he's grown a lot.

Has anyone talked to Susan about starting a new thread for April?
