Rules, then details :) 1. You must be 18
Now for the FUN part, After Dark is a lovely time, the moon is shining, the stars are twinkling. Gardeners are finished with their loving care of their babies, weeding is done, time to relax and just enjoy the bounty of nature and gorgeous blooms. In this RR, we will be trading things to enjoy After Dark. Evening and night blooming flowers blooms or herbs that give off a delicious evening scent, you know, the ones that make you want to leave all the windows open so it can soothe you to sleep! Other suggestions would be CDs (can be burned, share your favorites with us!) of smoky blues or jazz, star charts, or tidbits about various constellations, myths or stories about the stars, tea or coffee blends to relax with or a dessert recipe... anything that you enjoy in the evening to relax! At least three packets of seeds/bulbs/plants, something you enjoy relaxing with in the evening and something special from your partner‘s want list. I‘ll pair everyone up and list the partners on April 16th, then let the fun begin! I'm going to ask everyone to email me with their addresses and I'll email them later to your partner. **Everything must be shipped by April 30th. Confirmation would really be nice, it helps to make you feel safe and let you know that it got there safely!! I hope everyone will enjoy this, the evening is a wonderful time for my family and I. We take walks, curl up with a good book and a mug of hot tea or flavored coffee, maybe snack on a little dessert, once the stars come out, we enjoy relaxing on a blanket in the yard and studying the stars while someone tells a story from the Greek myths about them. For my family, it’s a time for being together and catching up and just relaxing and having fun together! I hope that you will all enjoy the first RR I host and sharing this part of my family’s life :) Link to GW Fragrant plants area, they have a very comprehensive list of night blooming and scented flowers and plants! |

| Bunny~Sounds like it would be a fun swap.Of course throwing Garden Junk in grabbed me!LOL!! I think Fishy was doing May's Swap with the Fairy theme, which I'm ALL for!!! I was just wondering if it was still going to happen, since the other fairy one is posted. later....April/dirt |
|
| That would be a great idea for me too bunny! I really like the it! Especially since I am going to be attacking the woods and adding some fun plants and features for them back there along the path. Some fun little peek a boo type things to catch their eye. They love the windchimes that I have back there, of course the neighbor's kids think it is a pinata since they keep wacking it with sticks! Sheesh! No worries girls, not the beautiful ones I received from our friends last fall, these are some very old metal lady bug and wood chimes that I got years ago. I have my beautiful princely Frog and Owl chimes close to the house where I can keep an eye on them and protect them from little hooligans! lol! |
|
| I meant I really like it, not "the" it. I must need more coffee, sheeze! Shaking my head and shuffling off to make a fresh pot... |

| I like the swap idea too Melissa!!! That sounds like a great idea!!! April has turned me into a Garden Junk Junkie lol. Shame on them lil imps swatting at the chimes Ducky lol tell them there isn't any candy in there lmao. |
|
| I'm fine with either swap or even the two back to back :) I did notice the Fairy, frogs, etc, trade starting up, but 1. it's happening too fast for me with this one going on too ( I try to only get into one at a time! I really do try!), and 2. I know that Mrs. Fishy mentioned wanting to do a fairy themed swap next month. I do like the kiddo and garden junk idea, though. I'm trying to gather things to make me a couple of those bird feeders/baths/water fountains and some bed frame/futon frame benches and chairs. I think I'm also gonna try some tipsey pots for strawberries. I've also got a couple more ideas I'm sketching out and thinking on. I'm probably going to incorporate some of the leftover stuff from our wedding into something for the gardens or gazebo. LOL! Can ya tell I sneaked over to the Garden Junk area after that insidious link was posted by April?!?! Kathy |

| Sorry that I've been quiet. I went in for a follow-up check-up and the nurse asked me if we were going to breastfeed... and I did not take it well. Somehow no one in my dr's office bothered to note the miscarriage on the paperwork, and they had the ultrasound all set up for the 4 month "guess what sex your baby is" ultrasound. You can not fathom how upset mr fishy is, and he insisted I get a Dr who can, you know, pay attention (the dr's office is across from the hospital I stayed at, and he saw me while I was there). I'm still willing to host the May swap (mr fishy suggested a name, but it's worse than the Uranus joke), but if someone wants to do a garden art swap instead that's fine too (closest thing I've got to "garden junk" is the plant markers I made for my veggie rows in pottery last winter, Tracy has a sweet pea from the set I did). Guess I'm just trying to not bum anyone else out around here. |

| Fishy did you change OB's??? Isn't that all kept in your files? Did they have to do a D&C since you were having twins and were three months along? I am sorry for your loss and the heartache you have to go through but I just can't understand how a physician's office can make such major mistakes and not be fearful of some kind of lawsuit. Hugs and smiles, |

| Yes I now have a new OBGYN (mr fishy wants to go do some therapy as well), yes that should've been in my file, esp. since the doc visited me in the hospital during my recovery. The D&C was a 2-day event that was just awful. I made the stupid mistake of doing it in the off-site clinic, instead of the maternity floor (I didn't wanna hear happy new parents, as I'm losing my babies), unfortunatly I'm allergic to several IV sedatives... so I was awake during the entire proceedure, and learned 1. it hurts like a c-section (suction and tugging during the event) and 2, it is not over fast or easy. They didn't allow mr fishy in the room, and the vallium I was given freaked me out worse, and I screamed thru much of it, which he could hear in the waiting room. They put me in the regular hospital after, but on the 5th floor, for a 48 hour observation period, to be sure I was healing and to get all the meds outta my system. We've decided to stop trying to have a baby. The tests came back with trisomny-18, so there was no way the babies would've survived (mr fishy insisted on an answer as to why we lost them, I don't wanna know how much that cost, I'm sure the insurance doesn't cover it). I hope that wasn't too grim >.< |

|
| Fishy - that is so awful!! I am so sorry you had to go through all that. OMG - Dave would have been all over that doctor and nurse if they had made a mistake like that! Mr Fishy and you have every right to be incredibly upset with them!! I loved your idea for the May swap, Fishy. I don't know what name you or Mr. Fishy had in mind though.. : ) I'll bet it's pretty funny!!! Big hugs to you, girlfriend! |

| The seven Krttika/ Big Dipper- Hindu In the Hindu mythology, it is said that the stars of the Big Dipper were the seven sages called Rishis. They were happily married to seven sisters named Krttika. They originally lived all together in the northern sky. But one day, the god of fire, Agni, emerged from the flames of a sacrificial offering performed by the seven Rishis and immediately fell in love with the seven Krttika. Trying to forget his love for the Krttika, Agni wandered in the forest where he met Svaha, the star Zeta Tauri. Svaha fell in love with Agni. To conquer Agni's love, Svaha disguised herself as six of the seven Krttika. For six times, Svaha made love to Agni, who believed that he had conquered the attractive wives of the seven Rishis. Svaha could mimic only six of the Krttika since the seventh sister, Arundhati, was too devoted to her husband to be imitated. After a while, Svaha gave birth to a child that she named Skanda. With his birth, rumors began to spread that six of the Rishis' wives were his mother. The seven Rishis divorced their wives. Arundhati was the only one that remained with her husband as the star Alcor. The other six Krttika went away to become the Pleiades. The Milky Way - Mayan The ecliptic was depicted as a two-headed sky-serpent with its body marked with astronomical signs. Mayans tracked their creation stories in relation to the movement of the stars across the heavens. They believed that the point at which the Milky way appeared as a vertical band in the night sky represented both the growth of the maize stalk and the moment of creation. Dessert Idea! Minted Honey Hope you enjoy these! Kathy |

| Well, I went to WalMart a little while ago.. and the guy was in the discount aisle marking down already discounted items. I'd had my eye for a while on these sets that have two coco-lined baskets that you could either make into two hanging baskets or two stand baskets, etc. These sets were originally $20/ea set.. he marked them down to $3/ea set. Soooo.. I bought all three sets that they had left. Now I need to figure out just what to plant in them! They are really cute.. if you do the two baskets as a stand it stands about 3 ft high. The bottom basket lip is about a foot below the top basket's bottom. So... and suggestions for planting them? I'm considering doing on set with Nasturtiums (b) and Dianthus (t). Considering another one with my Cigar Plant(b) and Lunaria (t) have NO clue what to do in the other set. I can either leave them as the stacked sets, make them into single planters, or hanging baskets. Kathy |

| OMG, that is so cute, Tracy! Don't you hate when Miss Bunny comes to your house and eats your plants??? I think she must have some clones, because I had a few last year eating lots of little seedlings! I plan to spray my transplants with a hot pepper spray this year and see if that will deter her!! It will be VERY hot, girlie girl!! |
|
| Becki, lol! I don't think those were clones, I think it was that bunny girl! She is a fast one, hopping from one end of the states to the next, taste testing all of our little green morsels! lol! I gave her a good scolding before she hopped off. Then I got yelled at by Emma for being mean to her bunny friend! lol! Sheesh, can't do nothing around here! lol! May I borrow your recipe for hot stuff to spray my plants with? lol! Watch, then she'll go after the succulents! |
|
| Okay, here is what I typed up when I read it: According to Organic Gardening magazine, one idea to keep rabbits from nibbling on your plants – use a pepper spary. Making your own is easy – puree two chile peppers in a blender with water, strain, and add one water to make one gallon of pepper concentrate. Then mix 1/4 cup of the concentrate per gallon of fresh water. Add a tablespoon of liquid soap to help the spray stick to the surface of your plants. This also helps repel two-spotted spider mites. What do ya think of that, Bunny? Huh? |
|
| oh fishy my heart is just breaking for you!! i'm so sorry that people can be sooo insensitive, and i'm jsut so sorry that you had to go thru that all alone much less go thru it!! you are in our prayers!! i really love the idea of a fairy swap!! of course ya'll know talla is doing a fairy garden, well community/village!! | Hey all. Those bunny pics are adorable (even if they are secretly eating your plants)! I have not posted much but have enjoyed hearing about all of the garden art, engagement, babies and gardening. Preferences for the swap - cuttings welcome but I'm not sure I'll be able to send any. I am so new to this. I am thinking of some other fun options for the swap. Are there any other "tea" lovers out there? I love to sit and drink hot tea after dark so I'm thinking creatively about working that into the swap. Hmmmm |

| I'm here, Bunny! Just been working very hard on all my seedlings and eggs!! Keeps me crazy busy! But, I'm loving it (well, except for cleaning the eggs that is!) The seedlings are so fun! I am going to set out tons of them today for their first "hardening". Eventually I hope to get to the point where I can have the tomatoes and such outside all day, and just bring them in at night. I need room! But it's great! And dontch'a be eatin' my iris!!!! You stinkin' bunny!!! : ) |
|
| Melissa! That topiary is gorgeous! That picture's got me thinking about making something like that! Well, I'm getting into the garden junk thing too. I'm actively hunting for cracked pots and twin bed frames! And of course when I'm looking for them for a purpose, there's none of freecycle! Oh, and let's not forget a futon! Cliff and I decided that would be much nicer than a hammock once the mattress is covered with weather resistant material! Nikki, I've got your preference noted :)And teas are a wonderful idea! I'm a tea drinker too- Chai Spice is my favorite! In the warmer weather I like the mints too and of course, after a hectic day, chamomile is always relaxing! Just six more days for anyone else to sign up! Then I'm announcing the pairs and the FUN begins! Now, for our next After Dark event.. a ghost story telling contest! I have a BE of seeds for the winner! I'll list them later cause it seems someone has moved my box- and ya know what that means... I may end up with a ghost running around here! :P So, between now and tomorrow evening, post your best ghost story, and I'll announce a winner Friday morning! Kathy |

- Posted by hazelnutbunny 7A (My Page) on Wed, Apr 9, 08 at 10:47
| A ghost story? Hmm. I don't have anything really great.... Here's a TRUE one from the town I grew up in. This is the way the story was told to me:::: I grew up in a town called Winslow, formerly known as Summit Home. It was a resort town in it's hayday...with a population of over 1200 people around the turn of the century. Now there is *maybe* 200 people. lol Anyway, Winslow is known for having the first ever woman mayor! For Arkansas, anyway. Maud Duncan is her name, and she was the BF of my great-grandmother. She was also the editor of a local paper. When I was little, my Aunt lived just a few yard from the cemetery. I would go over there daily and play by the girls tomb, trying to see through the cracks...and was always afraid that I actually would! Maud still haunts the grounds where her mansion once stood. All that is left now are a few foundation areas & an old root cellar. Scared the daylights out of me & my BF Melissa! We ran all the way home screaming! ~~~~~~~~~ |
|
| Among the seeds I have for the prize for the Ghost Story telling are:Purple Aster, Agapanthus- Med Blue and Storm Cloud , Stephanotis, Pandorea Vine, English Rose Hips, Lavender/Purple Wisteria and a few more, those will just depend on what I find :)But it will be a rather full enve! Kathy |
|
|
| Join in Tracy! This is for the whole MNF group, not just those signed up for the swap :) Kathy |

| this is a true "ghost" story that happened to me: I was always close to my grandfather and he died when I was 11. When I married a second time, things were going along pretty well, then my husband had a nervous breakdown. He was seeing angels and thought he was Jesus. I had him committed for awhile and then when he was they thought he was better, he came home. He became very paranoid and thought men in black suits were following him and that the phones were bugged. He was just acting odd and saying things like "they'll never take me alive!" One night after an especially tense evening, he fell asleep on the couch and I went to bed..and locked the door. The next day I called my parents and moved out within 24 hours. My husband had himself committed and I found out that he had planned on killing the dog, me and himself later that week. Needless to say, we were divorced very soon after that. I believe that my grandfather came that night and warned me because he knew what was going to happen. It still gives me goosepimples! Linda |

| Had to post these pictures while I read all these spooky ghost stories. These bloomed today. YAYYY!! Ice Cream Whip DL Veronica Lake Hosta (ts) Smiles, |
|
| LINDA! OMG! That is terrifying! Thank God for your Grandfather was looking after you. I have goosebumps now! Shudder! My story is a silly one and happened to my husband. When we bought our house we met with the previous owner several times. He is an old retired fireman. Kind of gruff, not a very happy sort of fellow. He often spoke of his recently deceased wife and how she bossed him about. He referred to her as "the wife". "Whatever the wife wants," followed by a shrug. Well, we cleaned up the house before we moved in. I was making my way through the rooms vacuuming and washing walls, then steam cleaning the rugs. The back bedroom was hers when she was being cared for at home near the end of her illness and ultimately passed away in. You could still make out the marks in the carpet from where the hospital bed was placed in the room. No matter how much I vacuumed or steam cleaned the rug, the marks were still there. We finally moved in and the guys placed our bed frame over the same spot that the old hospital bed marks were on the carpet. I felt a little superstitious about it but didn't say anything, just made up the bed and went on about my unpacking and setting up house responsibilities. After we moved in we would hear all sorts of creaking noises, sounds like there was someone moving about at night, and chalked it up to a new home with new sounds, and a case of the willies. A few nights later, the hubby and I were laying in bed talking about some of our plans for redecorating the house, landscaping and the like. One thing in particular that the hubby mentioned was putting a new hearthstone in front of the fireplace. Now, Mrs. B had the livingroom recarpeted a few years before and insisted that the carpet go all the way up to the opening of the fireplace, covering up the ceramic tile below when they had it installed. As Mr. B had told us previously, he didn't like the idea but shrugged and had told us "whatever the wife wants". I dozed off shortly after hubby and I finished talking about the future changes only to be awoken with a very loud "OW! Why'd you do that!?" from my hubby. I was confused and said "Why'd I do what?" He said "Pull on my nose like that! I was sound asleep, what is wrong with you?" I told him that I didn't touch his nose and that he was dreaming. He turned on the light and I looked over at him and there were red marks on his nose from being pulled on! We both got a shudder, it seems that Mrs. B didn't like the idea of us messing up her house because it wasn't "whatever the wife wants"! Since then we moved the bed and haven't been bothered by creaking floors, footsteps in the night or the tweaking of my hubby's nose. And lots of redecorating has gone on since then. |

| I don't think I believe in ghosts. If one did show up I'd probally grill it to death about educational methods during thier childhood, anyways. However I have been to the Winchester house in San Jose, CA (that would be Mrs. Winchester, her husband designed the rifle). She was so certain that she was being tormented by the dead spirits of the indians her husband's rifle killed, that her parinoia drove her mad, and she kept adding onto her maze-like house to hide from them. |

| Bunny it's definatly creepy, and a little unsettling. They give "flashlight tours" around Halloween that are uber creepy. Just got back from digging in the new veggie garden, mr fishy got me a new shovel (I know it doesn't sound romantic, but I'd rather have that than chocolate or cut flowers), so I've been happily digging in maniure and compost. |

| Kathy~ that's really neat. It has the countdown & everything.COOL! Creepy stories everyone. The house that I lived in with my parents in Foley ,Al had a spirit/ghost.We think it was the lady who lived there as she had died in the house several years before. The shower would come on when no one was around. It would also shut off WHILE you were in it!Several times my mom would feel like someone was watching her while in the kitchen. She was cooking one day when someone tapped her on her shoulder, only when she turned around NO ONE was there. She was really freaked out!We finally got rid of some of the things that were left from previous owner & all the "happenings" quit.Gotta go I'm having flashbacks...JK!! later...April/dirt |

| Thanks Ladies!Lucky for us, we have 4 acres & no one sees my "projects"!Still wondering where to put my "tree". Hubby doesn't like to mow around stuff either.I would like to have ALL of it planted in flowers. You would think they would too, as that WOULD be less grass for them to mow!As long as we can eat what I plant, he is fine with it.Always thinking with his belly! I'm trying to figure out what the weather is going to do today. There is a master gardener expo going on today & tomorrow.I SOOOO want to go ,but not if we will be rained on! later...April /dirt |

| I worked moving more rocks yesterday. I now have a small but nice area to plant along side my porch...(have to wait a bit, it's calling for SNOW showers this weekend) I moved the rocks to the shade garden I'm working on in back of the fence,(uphill around a pine tree, three bushes and back down the other side, who needs bowflex?). I have more rocks to move from the front of the house to the same area, however, it's raining today so I guess I'll clean! April, I love the pics and the fence and arch....hmmmm....."pondering about what I could do with the brush pile in the woods" Linda |

| I have to work on my ghost "story" in WP then will post here - kinda complicated and don't want it to be too long. My mother, myself and my daughter are all "sensitive" and have had numerous things happen over the years. I'll draft something out and post here this weekend. Love the pics April - great creativity! |
|
| i know what ya mean em, we all in our immediate family here are sensitive!! tabor has seen a little boy and a black figure, i haven't i'm more of a feeler, grant feels the things. tabor see's them. its nuts! LOL once i actually saw a black figure in the corner but i felt it more!! very scary to me!! it was more of a blob. last summer was scary for me though. something actually touchd me! more like poked me, he was being onery, i let him know HEY!! your not supposed to do that!! he never did again, it was a kid, i think. This is real deal, try ignoring it, and the first thing you'll notice ARIES - The Aggressive TAURUS - The Tramp GEMINI - The Twin VIRGO - The One that Waits LIBRA - The Lame One SCORPIO - The Addict SAGITTARIUS - The Promiscuous One CAPRICORN - The Passionate Lover AQUARIUS - Does It In The Water PISCES - The Fish OK here's the thing you can't send this to the person who sent this to you so good luck! ready ........ set............ | April, I think some pretty flowering vines would look so cool on the arch in the woods! What about doing some clematis? Then you wouldn't have to replant every year. I love the fence and the fort. All of that is going to look amazing when it all gets growing! I can't wait to see your pictures! I am laughing at all the hubby's complaining about having to mow around more stuff. More flower beds = less grass to cut! I do all the yard work here. Last year I taught myself how to drive the riding lawnmower so now don't have to listen to any of the whining. More work for me, but less nag nag nag! HA HA HA HA! I'd rather do it myself than wait for him to get around to it anyway. Between his work schedule and Ted's, the lawn usually got pretty long before it got cut. |

| Well I went to the expo & it was good.Didn't buy a whole lot.Just some "Crazy Daisy" for 2$ & the Daylily Society had some daylilies with no tags for 1$ each & I got five of those. Can't want to see them bloom! I saw LOTS more that I wanted though! There will be another one in the fall & I'm going solo. It's not easy getting a stroller though all that stuff.Really wish I had a pickup truck....the city was giving away FREE compost & mulch. They even loaded it for ya. The compost looked like black, steaming, gold to me. Brett said the best part was watching the trucks be filled up.All boy that one! I'm trying to talk the hubby into teaching me how to start up the tiller. He's afraid he'll come home & there will be NO grass!!I probably could find the directions online though... I'm thinking the veg garden needs to be bigger.Unless you can grow pumpkins, watermelon,& cantalopes up fence poles.I know they do take up lots of space.I think you use stockings for slings when the fruit starts to get heavy.Anybody tried that yet? Tracy~good idea about the clematis on the arch.Plus with it being in the wooded area by the creek, they should do great.Cool roots & all that. I have one by the porch. This will be the first year I get to see it bloom.Of the 4 I bought at Wal-Mart on clearance last summer, one survived the kids & DOG!Of course the name tag is lost though,so who knows what color it will be....Well I'm off to add clematis to my want page. later...April/dirt |
|
| WOW that is a good idea!! clematis up the posts!! especially if your gonna leave them there forever!! :')) tht'd be really cool!! we have to get to planting some of them mammoth sunflowers pretty soon!! for these two kiddo's! maybe one for the girl and one for the boy, so in the summer they can have clubs, although i i know how that's gonna turn out!! hubby saying i don't want these kids here and,..... then of course i'm gonna be ticked!! so we'll have to make it interesting looking!! and so help me if they tear it up! we have two monster who come over and get into trouble, they seem to like doing that! boys!!!!! i told tabor- for purpose of conversation only- that if one of them kids or him ever break any of my bricks or anything again! i don't care WHOSE kid it is, i'll whip their butts!!!! of course he goes uhhh huuuu,,, i said try me!! with that serious mom look, of i'm so tired of this crap. so he decided not to push the issue. and said ohhhh man!!! we wont mom!! hmmmmmm..... how long ya think that would work??? maybe the second or the third time the kid is over?? LOL |

| Hi to all you busy gardeners, planted walla walla sweets today, radishes, beets and turnips are up. cauliflower in cold frame. double daffys are pretty but fall over. trying to conserve my energy for mothers day floral frenzy, bunny stay away from my seedlings please, no mating in my yard either, I know ya rabbits. looking forward to getting my partners name. enjoy the sun carol |
|
| OMG Carol! ROFLOL! Please, no bunnies mating in my yard either! Had enough of that last summer for Pete's sake! LOL! April, I have a couple of vines rooting from my proteus clematis. Would you like one? I started it last fall, it has fresh growth coming up and I disconnected it from the mama last week. In a few more weeks it should have some more vines coming from the ground. Did the dog dig up your clems? If not then check where you planted them. They will go dormant sometimes after being newly planted, they will concentrate on root development during hot warm months and may be putting out some new shoots now. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened for you with the drought that you went through last summer. I have 3 that did this from last year. They looked completely dead at the end of the season and now have at least 2-3 shoots peaking out now from each. Michele, you are reminding me of the destruction that happened in the one neighbor's yard last spring, I think I need to have a refresher course on respecting mine and the neighbor's plants and flower beds. The boys and their friends are little digging machines and did a number on the neighbor's flower bed last year. I don't want a repeat performance of that. It was just awful. Thanks for bringing that up! |

| Tracy~Yes,I would love one. Just searched for photo of one,it is lovely.Sadly,Diego was going through the puupy stage of chewing EVERYTHING to the ground last year. The clematis kept coming backafter every"pruning",but finally it was just....gone. I haven't seen him chewing on anything of MINE so far,but he was chewing on wild blackberry canes the other day.I don't think he has any feeling in his mouth. Those things have BIG thorns on them.Shouldn't be suprised though, he did the same thing to my roses last year too.Of the 5 I planted ,I've seen two in bloom. The more I think about this.....Anyone want a 1 year old Lab/Retriver mix? He will prune your plants & dig garden holes for you!!!!LOL!!! later...April/dirt |

| OK Michelle lol (like Tracy here kinda) you are reminding me of my "DAILY" experiences with MUD!!! She has learned that she can jump the fence into my Love Garden and go into my Veggie gardens without fence (they are all fenced in together) so now Imma going to have to tie plastic bags to my Love Garden fence just to keep her out cause even destruction isn't the word for what she does!!!! lol. April I love the Arch, Fort and the Fence!!! GIRL you have been busy!!! It all looks soo good!!!! I can't wait to see pictures of it all when you have plants growing up it. COME HERE and do that to my yard PLZZZZ! Carol, your gardens are going to be awesome also! We don't have to worry about Bunnies doing the nasty in our yard lol thanks to Rebs and Mud I don't think they would have the 3 minutes it takes (supposedly). Smiles, |
|
| heck as fast as they go i'm surprised it takes that long!! LOL ummm lived on a farm for a while as a kid! its amazing what ya know!! LOL i thought all animals "did it" LOL then my grandma told me that chickens didn't do it to have eggs!! boy was i amazed!! and turkeys didn't OHHH my didn't i not believe it!! so i learned that birds were weird!! LOL then fishy's did in the water that WE drink, so now that's why we buy those filters for our fridge! and have one of those fridges!! LOL MAN!!! YUCK YUCK AND YUCK!!! now on the news they are talking about the people who are waiting til the last minute to do their taxes, how many of ya?? come on, tell the truth!!??!! not i, only cuz hubby takes care of it, he gets it done as soon as we get the last paper thingi in!! i'm soooo not kidding! but he has "people" to do it! but next year he's doing it himself with that other thing!! LOL OMG i just watched a thing on the news about these girls who beat this one girl up and were gonna post it on the youtube and they had got caught, and of course in trouble, the family of the girl who got beat up has death threats on them. geez what are people thinking? i'm so glad my kids are not in school!! next week i talk to the k12 people for the kids :')) did i tell ya all about the dust remover thing? kids use that as a get high thing and one boy died from it, horrible!! ok that's all i know now (thank goodness!! | Nope Medo, no fetilization for breakfast eggs, just for baby chicks. Well set out my 1st group of transplants, some tomatoes and cukes that were large enough to go out, I should have the peppers out on Sun. I found 2 fat little carapilliars munching down on my watermelon babies.... mr fishy had never seen me "dispatch" a catapilliar before, he both flinched and said "you're kinda sexy when smushing bugs"... I'm still tring to figure that one out. Seems my melons are hesitant to sprout this year, last year I had tons of sprouts, and I don't think I've changed anything. I really should've wintersowed more of the veggies than I did, but didn't know how big the veggie beds would be. I decided to ski the tiller and double dig the beds this spring (too impaciet to get going) and it's only a 3X12 strip that's getting double dug, the rest are hole dug vines (melons, zukes, pumpkins, the space hogs I didn't have room for in my tiny plot in the old house). |
|
| April, I am putting your name on it! It will be single blooming for the first year or two, then it will get the multi-blooms on the older wood, the bigger it gets the more doubles you will get from it. I will be able to send it in a few weeks I think, I will make sure that it is recovered from the severing and then pack it up for you. Sorry, I'll have to pass on the digger doggy! lol! Your poor roses! |
|
| I'm gonna extend the ghost story telling contest til Sunday to give Em time to get her story in, and anyone else who still wants to enter. I was in bed with a migraine all day yesterday :( still feeling a little tender and light sensitive this morning, so I think I'm gonna go lay back down. I'll try to catch up on posts this afternoon. | Michele....Shame on you!! You have rubbed off on me!! LOL We took a drive this morning, to see what sort of damage the floods have caused. Eek, we ran into over 4 closed roads!! Some were completely washed away...it was insane. ANYWAY...we passed by an overgrown bank of dirt, and I spotted a small pink flower! So I said, "hey, babe..did you see that flower? It looked like a small rose!" So he stops the truck, backs up..to let me out to look at it. SOoooooo....After closer inspection, I realize it's a FLOWERING ALMOND that someone has kept whacking down!! (probably county road people...*sigh*..) SO, I tried pulling it up, but didn't work...so I just snapped off 4 branches, so I could take cuttings when I got home!! LOL UGH, I'm terrible!! Hubby just laughed, and said he'd fly home before they dried out. LOL So hopefully, in a few months, I'll have some rewards for my thievery. :O) I'm so evil. And it's all YOUR fault, Michele!! :O) |
|
| ****rubbing hands**** yay!!! its finally working!! LOL i hope it works for ya!! some people say to put them in some kinda peat mix. :')) |

| Your not evil, you're "liberating" the almond from the ruthless savages of an over zealious prunner! You should be commended for your fine work of kindness to the plants we share our planet with! (hmmm, that may be overkill no?). My parents came to see the new house today, which went better than expected. Mum was actually civil to mr fishy, which is a first, I'm not sure if age is softening the old bat, or if today was a hot-flash free day, but at least she didn't start harping on people (a rather rare thing for her to refrain from). Dad was pretty happy at the boys' enthuasim for softball, and brought over new T-ball stand and whiffle balls for them to play with. I'm thinking I may look into little leauge or Pal sports (P.A.L. is police action leauge, the afterschool program set up to keep kids in the cities outta trouble after school). |
|
- Posted by fishymamas z9, So. CA (My Page) on Sun, Apr 13, 08 at 0:36
| For those who are newer, mum dilikes mr fishy based wholly on the gossip of her ladies club, who found my "tragic" widowhood to be a specator event as I was going thru some very private pain, apperantly I didn't greave "properly" (I didn't know there was a handbook for this), my remarring only a year after mr fishy the 2nd had died, his being an amputee, and the age differance, in other words, nothing that really matters. He has always been polite and respectful, no matter how rude she behaves towards him. |

| Well...ya'll are just regular little enablers, aren't ya?? LOL The only thing hubby said was.."Gee whiz, don't take all of it!!" *with a big grin on his face* I told him, I'm leaving the roots, so it'll grow back. Not like it matters, they keep mowing the dern things ANYWAY! HELLO!!! LOL Golly, I agree with Linda. Mr Fishy deserves a medal...or sainthood. Either way. :O) YAY FOR SUNDAY!! Oh, WAIT...that means it's MONDAY tomorrow!! ACK! |
|
Next thing you know our bunny friend will upgrade from munching on our flowers to just taking the whole plants right off our windowsills! ![]() |
|
| I'm Back! And feeling much better! Migraines are the pits of hades! You feel absolutely horrible and guilty because you can't see after yours family or anything else you need to take care of! :( Sometimes I wonder if it isn't like Cliff said.. that migraine is my body's way of saying "slow down, take a little YOU time!" Ms Fishy, Mr Fishy is a good man. And a gentleman! Perhaps your Mother is realizing that her disapproval and ugliness towards the two of you isn't going to change the fact that you love each other and are happy together. I am sending warm wishes and friendship to wash over the two of you. You have dealt with so much lately, and done so with grace and the attitude of moving forward. Just remember that there is something wonderous in store for you. I know in my heart that that's true. In the meantime, you have all of us to lean on and for us to support you :) Ghost Stories :) We have 4 so far. Melissa, Linda, Tracy and April. I'm gonna wait til this afternoon in hopes that Em will be able to get her's posted, since she was interested in the contest :) The Brat Pack have read and "ranked" all the others, so once they can read Em's, I'll be able to post a winner :) Michele, you'd be proud of me. Last week my oldest daughter and I were in WalMart and I saw this little sprig that had broken off a plant someone had bought. It was the most gorgeous purple! And newly broken off cause ti wasn't squished yet. So, I had Faye go back and pick it up while I bought us each a soda. She brought it back and I stuck it into a baggie in my purse without really looking at it. Got home and took it out and went to dip it in rooting compound and realized it was a Wandering Jew :)And it's now happily rooting and doing very well in a mini butter bowl that I turned into a rooting pot :) I think next week it'll be ready to go into my big hanging pot with my other Wandering Jew :) I have a few things coming up. My Morning glories and Sweet Peas vines in the front yard are doing really well! In the veggie garden, the Oregon Sugar Peas and the Thomas Laxtons are coming up. My tomato plants are doing well, they should start growing more soon since they seem to have recovered well from transplanting. My lettuce and swiss chards are popping up, as are the radishes. I think that's all at the moment, but the Mini Indian Corn may be starting up. I'll have to look closer and make sure later today. These were all direct sow seeds, except the tomatoes. I've got to tent the veggies tonight, though. We're suppose to have a freak dip below freezing tonight. So I'm gonna tent the garden, put milk jugs over the tomatoes, bring ALLL my potted plants and wintersows that are peeking out inside (won't have any counter, table, coffee table or back foyer space left :P) And just hope that my little inch tall MGs and 1/4 inch tall sweet Peas make it. Cause that's a lot of fence line to try to tent against possible frost. Unless anyone has some innovative ideas since all the cash I have at the moment is grocery money til payday on Wednesday :( Oh, and I have a question about my Callas, those little buggers still aren't showing yet. I did them from bulbs, and I'm thinking that even though we've hit several days of 70's, that maybe it's not been warm enough for long enough to be seeing my various bulbs yet? Kathy! off to bake blueberry muffins and figure out something to cook for dinner after the poor dearlings having to eat leftovers for two nights cause I wasn't feeling like cooking :P |

| I might be a little more patient with your calla's, Kathy. I think they need lots more sun & warm weather before they'll be brave enough to poke through. Seems like mine didn't come up until May, but it's hard to remember. I hope yours show soon, though. :O) Glad to hear you're feeling better, too!!! Yay! :O) I hate migraines, I get at least one a month...and everybody suffers. It's bad. Not only am I miserable, but grumpy to boot. You just can't shut off 5 kids & everything that goes with them. I feel for you, I certainly do!! :O) *hugs* WELL. Our morning just got exciting. Adora got into some model car paint & drank a bit. UGH. So we called the PCC, and they just said to "look for signs of distress: vomiting, flushing, rash, etc....keep her upright for at least an hour, give her water or milk & brush her teeth." |
|
| Kathy, glad to see you are feeling better! I don't get migraines but do get frequent muscle/tension headaches. They don't make for a happy mom, that is for sure. I think your tenting along the fence is probably the best idea. Do you have a large sheet of plastic/visquine? That would make quick work of it. I looked at the callas that miss fishy sent to me and they recommend planting the callas when the ground reaches 50 degrees and to plant them between April and May for your zone. I think yours will start popping up in a few more weeks. |
|
- Posted by fishymamas z9, So. CA (My Page) on Sun, Apr 13, 08 at 16:38
| Callas like to take thier time, and yours. Generally right about the time I forget where I planted them, they pop up, good news is once they're there, they stay there, and you just divide/thin like any perrinieal. I put in both white and coloered ones under the fountain at the house. Well all the flowers are seeded and the bulbs are in., it's 90 today, so I need to get out in the veggie garden. Also need to plan my frount flower beds, right now it's a sea of grasses, and I'm thinking 3 ft wide beds of perrinieals. The house is a caramel and chocolate trim, so something bright needs to go with the rich colors. |
|
| Hey all = popping in to say a quick hello and to not hold up contest b/c of me - sorry - have been way busy working in yard - after 4 trips to lowe's - got all my soil and manure and trellises and of course a couple more plants - and did veggie garden and bf/hb garden - still need to go out and do some watering and I can tell you that I will prolly fall fast asleep just as soon as I can sit on that sofa and rest for a few. You dont realize how heavy a 40 pound bag of soil is until you have carried 50 of them lol Will catch up with everyone tomorrow - hope your weekend was happy! Hugs Em. |

| Yes Michelle, I have had some blooms already, I posted them on the Pictures of Spring thread. (or whatever its called) Well Fox finished my South bed this weekend and I have planted some in there now I just need to move all my DL's in there and move the roses up there. (This week) I also have a new bed around my mailbox lol, last minute thinking and a very nice Fox lol. I have been hoping that Alan would take a pic of me and Fox so I could post an updated pic but that hasn't happened yet. Miss Emily you have had a very busy and full weekend it sounds like! Its supposed to rain for us this Thursday but ya can't hold off on watering! lol It got chilly for me here this evening (ok I know Tracy and most of ya'll will laugh at me but hey it happens)!!! I think the pixie is going to make another run this week sometime btw ;) :). Did ya'll know that if you eat salted in the shell peanuts it will mess your lips and tongue up if you try to suck the salt off the shells???? (like eating sunflower seeds) Well for those of ya'll that don't know it.... it does!!!! My lips and tongue are still raw from doing that! Well, supper is finished, dishes done, nothing is on television tonight so I need a good book to read or maybe will just crochet something. Hope ya'll have a great night. |

Huh, Huh?? Wanna?? I'm sure it'll give you some laughs...it is me, now. Not then. But boy, did my daddy have a field day. Laughed his hiney off at my expense. Not nice, I tell ya. Okay, here is what my girls did between 8am & 2pm. Keep in mind, this is ONE DAY. *Baby striped nakie & streaked through the house with a barbie doll stuck between her cheeks. Cute, but unsanitary. Okay. That was ONE DAY. At the end, I was BEGGING hubby to bring me home a margarita or at least SOMETHING alcoholic. |

| Kathy, I'm up for seeds too. Aren't we all? (grin) I'd write more, but today is tax day for me. I've either been procrastinating or something else has happened to prevent me from doing them. Well, today is the day, I guess. Got my forms, my receipts, my calculator, my pens and pencils, and half a brain. Think that should do it? hehehe Later! |
|
| The Bratlings have spoken! We have a winner! All seven of my bratlings (including the niece that I raised as my own)got together and read all the ghost stories, and it was a TIE! Half for Tracy's Story, and half for Linda's story with one waffling between the two! So, I will split the seeds down and Linda and Tracy should each receive their seeds later this week. I'm gonna package and put them into the mail this afternoon :) Congratulations Linda and Tracy! Kathy |

| Eeep! Tracy, would you please email me with your address. I forgot you weren't signed up for this swap :( Deadline to sign up is tomorrow midnight! Wednesday I'm posting the partners and the fun can begin!! Kathy |

| Yay! 2 days till partners!! Yippee! :O) Congrats to Linda & Tracy! :O) Pixie, you ARE a lucky girl to have such a great hubby. :O) I'm lucky too, my man is above & beyond anything I'd ever deserve. *mushy sigh* :O) Well, the barbie in the cheeks thing WAS funny. :O) I'm stuck (no pun intended!) wondering HOW in the WORLD she got that thing to stay there!! I mean...for such a tiny thing, she's only 20 lbs & can't even keep her pants on, for goodness sakes!! LOL I think I've got "The Curse". Ya know. The one that ALL parents put on their kids..."When you grow up, I hope you have one JUST LIKE YOU!!!!" UGH. Although, I asked my daddy, told him...I just don't think I was ever that rotten. He says.."Well, not all in one day." :O) My poor mama. lol |

| Linda, Tracy, both of your packets are in the mail! Congratulations again! Alrighty, well, the frost doesn't seem to have damaged my sproutlings. I am rather relieved, since I didn't have extras on some of the seeds. I'm getting excited about announcing the partners! I can't wait to see what wonderful boxes everyone sends and receives! Kathy |

| So I am still laughing about the Ramen noodle thing. I love my son. I have one. but sometimes had wished for a girl as they color, and paint and sit quiet in church. max jumps, dives and rolls off the top of the couch. He has also jumped from heights that I still would not consider as I see it as a fractured wrist for sure. jaleesia~ have you thought about immitrex? It certainly works well for any patient I have RX'd it to. I am also an naturalist in the fact that I know feverfew works too. Sometimes I tell patients, if you can feel it "the aura" part then pop 800 motrin adn 1000mg Tylenol together. Alot of people think they are the same and they are not. So pop them together. Worst case , you need to go to a clinic and get an injection of demerol, or something similar. My Aura is toast I always smell toast before my migraine. Strange but true. Well back to work. Not the fun gardening type, but the I have a sore back and i am constipated type.. Laura |
|
| Hi Laura! Well, I've tried most of the prescriptions out there and most of them seem to leave me really hazy or knock me out for quite a while. The best thing, aside from feverfew tea that I've found is a 'migraine cocktail' shot the ER in Chickasha gave me. It let me sleep off the migraine within a couple hours, and wake clear headed and ready for anything. I have two ulcers, so I have to be careful of a lot of ibuprofens, but naproxin seems to help too. This one just lingered and left the muscles really tender to the touch and left my eyes really light sensitive. I didn't go to the ER because I usually don't unless it's lasted a couple days or I get to the vomiting stage. I usually have this really awful smell/taste... sort of a noxious gas smell/taste before one hits. I try to stay away from medicines just because... but I do drink a lot of herbal teas and I keep lavender massage oil on hand because it seems to help too. When I get a migraine, I usually put some of that into a vaporizer, it seems to help. But a couple times a year I'll get a really bad migraine that completely makes me useless. Usually I can 'suffer through' until I get things to a point where I can crash out and sleep it off. Kathy |

| Umm...Laura... " but sometimes had wished for a girl as they color, and paint and sit quiet in church. " Oh, golly. Whose girls have you been watching??? Mine are over at the floor to ceiling windows, licking the darn things so they can make squeegie noises & hanging upside down on the pews. While the BOYS are sitting quietly and trying to listen to the sermon!! LOL EEEK! |
|
| he he.. You have to admit though, girls have cuter clothes.. And you get to play with barbie. I get Lego's which is ok, video games that I don't understand and gross looking dudes that usually have three eyes.. max is probably loud in church cuz my dads the preacher. he thinks he can get away with it. |

The pics are fuzzy but you can see the snake (no name yet). Its a corn snake, I had it and had to do something so gave it to fox to hold for a few minutes. Then I just had to take a pic cause I know no one would believe me if I told them that fox actually held the snake lol. Its cold here today, just supposed to get to 72. Sheesh this isn't supposed to be the temps for April!!! Hope everyone has a great day. Smiles, |

| Girls do get cuter clothes, but I hate it when thier mothers drop them off in nice clothes. Nice clothes never stay nice for long here, and thier kids, you wanna stick someone in awful, impratical clothing to show them off, get a purse chihuihua. As for church, a nursery class with the serimon being recorded for the sunday school teachers, worked well when I taught sunday school. So I thinking it's time to do something fablious for mr fishy, I'm thinking about having a BBQ built in the back yard for him, and a big hammock installed. Evan turns 8 next month, and I'm thinking about a castle playhouse for him (the trees are all palm trees, so it'll be on the ground), with some fake "windows" painted with dragons and castles inside. I'll have to get a new camera to post pics as it's made. |
|
| I'm sorry to do this Kathy, but I am going to have to drop out of this month's robin. I am having a very hard time getting out the ones I've already got partners for. WAY too much going on right now!! I hope you all have a great time!!! Hugs, |

| Ya know...it occurred to me today...that I've never shown you girls a picture of our camel!! (well, OK. not "our" camel. Lol. He actually is the neighbor's camel...but we consider him "ours". :O) ) Here's Charlie the Chocolate Camel! Isn't he CUTE?? :O) And here is the beautiful sky from Friday afternoon. I was watching the sky instead of driving (oops) because the clouds were actually WHITE instead of gray for the first time in, like, a month!! And this is the first BLUE sky we've seen in about a month, too! It was so perty, I just couldn't help looking. I love big fluffy white clouds. |

| Well Bunny~ looks like you were stopped at a redlight,so that wasn't too bad!!!I wonder how camel poop is for gardens?? Fishy~BBQ area & hammock sound great to me.I do all the BBQing(<~~is that a word?) But my hubby would love a hammock. Speaking of him....he would not pull over yesterday so I could get a bag of leaves off the sidewalk.I wanted them for the compost pile. There was some 2X4s out there too!I guess I shouldn't complain too much. He did drive 30 mins for some bowling balls for yet another "Yard Art" project of mine.Going after another one tomorrow.Didn't think so many people wanted to get rid of them!!!Plus I'm getting some dirt for our anniversay!YAY!!! Becky~ we're gonna miss ya. Since we are telling child horror stories....When I went to the plant Expo Friday,I made sure that Brett knew it was not OK to pick the flowers off the plants before we got there.Well I should've mentioned the leaves!!!He was pulling leaves off plants & handing them to Brooke.Who then put them in her mouth.I didn't see it,I was drooling over plants.(Bad MOM I know!!) Luckily another shopper noticed, and told me. I was sooo embarassed but glad she told me& lucky Brooke was ok ,as lots of plants are toxic.Brett now knows not to pick flowers or LEAVES!!!! later....April/dirt |

| Mr fishy has an unfortunate love of plaid flannel (think AL from tool time), and his height does make him look rather like Paul Bunyun... it's both amusing and horrifing, so needless to say, he doesn't do much interiour work for the firm (built in bookshelves, he's your guy, but don't let him pick a fabric). Aside from the new TV, he's not been allowed to pick out anything for the new house, so I was thinking that I'd live with whatever patio furnature he likes. |

| Oh, April! LOL I can just imagine! :O) Does little Brooke still have those vampire teeth? That was SO cute!! :O) Loved it!! Here's what Aubeni did today while I was outside in the garden. She found a bird's nest (actually, the neighbor's terrier found the nest, & Aubeni confiscated it from him!) and she put it in our bird cage. And then filled it with jelly beans!! She told me.."Isn't it pretty?? Now the birdies have a nest & eggs, so they can have pretty baby birdies! We'll have a purple one, red one, yellow one..and even a pink one!!" |

| LOVE "Charlie" Melissa and the sky looks wonderful! Laughin at the birdie's new nest and at them looking like "what the heck is going on here!!!!" Too cute. April YAY for the dirt for your anniv. (maybe there will be something in the dirt eh???) You have great Hubby too! You are a great Momma girlie, kids will be kids and hey he was just helping his sister out cause she couldn't reach the plants herself! (Its always good to know that others are watching when we look away for a bit though) Fishy, in your school do you teach or just do the curriculum? What grades do you teach? I know you have said before but I am forgetful. I have some friends that are moving to Hemet CA, and they have 4 kids ages 3, 5, 8, 10 and they are looking for a private school. I told them about your school and they would like more information, do you have a brochure or any literature that you can send me? Please email me. Smiles, |

| oh my goodness!! lets see if this one will post!! my other one from earlier didn't post today, i thought your girli's are so cute!! my house would be such a mess cuz i'd just take them out and have so much fun paying with them!!! LOL ohhhh man i'd love to watch movies with ya pixie!! of course talla'd love that!! LOL she found a yellow butterfly today and was talking to it, it was a butterfly fairy!! i love how her mind works, she told me that MOM i know its not a real butterfly fairy but.... LOL i said she's listening to you!! :')) she said yep!!! with a big bright smile. like to see if it was alright to believe. who am i to not believe?? there is such a vast area of things not covered in life so think its alright to open up my mind and believe there are other things in life going!!! tabor had a weird thing happen to him, we were cleaning out moms front flower bed and putting in the new white peony bulb, well after he put the stuff back his face was all red, and his throat started closing up he said so we told him to take a puff on his inhaler, and he said that didn't help, really, so his throat started drying out, so i had him drink some tea. well it didn't help. and then we passed a feild burning and for some reason that cleared him all up!! i do understand about that aora thing, i think, cuz i feel like that alot!! i try to explain that to grant the way i feel. but its hard to explain. i hope ya'll got your taxes done!! tomarrow is tax day!! :')) we are waiting for the one that is supposed to come out next month!! that's kinda cool!! fishy your man must be like 6 ft?? oh my pixie!! is that the very same snake as before?? the one your son brought home?? how is katy?? i hope she is doing well!! :')) girls being good in church??!! uhhhh not mine!! ummm mine is always uppp, uhhh i gotta get a drink, i gotta go pee, i gotto go get a book to read, and i gotto go get a different book. then when its time to sing the song befor we leave, she always jumps on me and almost knocks me over!! never fails!! she's always climbing over the pew. we have a very small church, like maybe 25 at most at the night much more during the day, then shes' very much better. flannels are so soft!! i like them for pillow covers and such!!! in the fall and winter!! :')) i figured out the reason for the depression, its been really cloudy, and stuff for the last mo on and off for the past month, so that was my set back. errrr. so hard to get used to!!! i'm sooooo not happy with this!!! this med is supposed to help with that!! i went back to the regular 1 a day. and things went back to normal (what is normal anyways???? LOL) here!! LOL grant noticed cuz i actually busted a gut laughing one day for practically no reason, which was a usual. but i hadn't done in a while. whew did i miss that!! :')) Hugs everyone!! | I have exactly 4 spaces open for children above age 2. I can email you the brochure, it's in MS Publisher. We use and adapt the k-12 program for each child, and they work in small groups of 4 or less (math is 1 on 1, reading is done in small groups, history, science exparaments, and art is done in groups of 4). |

| Oh, Michele..the depression thing is tricky, isn't it? And sucks bigtime!! Especially when you have kids. UGH. I've heard that it takes 2 years for hormones to get back to normal levels after you have a baby...so combine that with the "I have been pregnant every 2 years for the past 12" PLUS a whopping case of PPD after I had Adora....UGH. I've had a rough time over the last few months, it's been pretty bad. A psychologist said I was bipolar. Yikes. So now it's on to treating that. BUT, on the good side, at least now we know why I have those wild swings between "Everything is WOOOONDERFULLLL!!!" And "I want to crawl in a hole & die till I'm dead". Poor hubby spent all this time thinking it was normal, because 2 of his aunts are CERTIFIED INSANE, and his mom has always been bipolar. Poor poor hubby!!! Well, us looneys have to stick together, or else we'll just go even NUTSER. LOL |

| Michele and Melissa *BIG HUGS* dealing with depression, in whatever form it presents, is really horrible. Towards the end of my marriage with the psycho that tried to kill me, I was very depressed. He almost had me convinced that I was the problem, that I was "crazy". That I was just overly jealous(because he HAD to have attention from any female around), that I was just making a big deal out of nothing (because he was addicted to porn and would look at that rather than have anything to do with me) and that I was controlling (because I didn't want every penny we made spent on some form of gambling). I actually went to have an evaluation done. They found that I wasn't "crazy" I was severely depressed. It was termed situational depression. They put me on medications that I was on for a year. They told me that since mine was situational, not chemically caused by my system, that if things changed dramatically and I hadn't been on the meds for too long, that it was possible for me to come off of them. But after a period, it would be almost impossible because my body would stop producing certain chemicals on it's own. Well, several months after getting not only out of the marriage, but completely away from the place the events happened, life was so much more wonderful! Amazing how the lack of chaos can make such a difference! I was able to come off of the meds. I still have what I consider to be normal ups and downs, but I no longer that that mind numbing depression that interfered with raising my kids and caring for them, working, my personal peace of mind, my sleeping. I no longer have panic or anxiety attacks. The situation I was trying to deal with was just too much to be able to overcome the effects of the depression. With the medicine to stabilize me while I sorted out what I needed to do in therapy and got out of the marriage, I was able to function again. I'm not a big fan of medications, but being able to just simply function and take care of my children, and most importantly, being ABLE to make the decisions I needed to make is something I am very grateful for. Everyone gets depressed sometimes, it's true, but when that depression causes an upheaval in your life, it's time to take care of it. I have nothing but the greatest respect and love for those who deal with it as a chemical deficiency in their bodies. It's not something that you can change by getting a divorce and moving. I wish you both the best in dealing with this illness and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. The struggle I had with it was for about a year and a half. It took a lot of strength, love and understanding on my part as well as on my family's. I can only imagine what others deal with when it's not a situation that is causing it, but your own body. And you guys just remember, I'm here for you :) Kathy |

| Good morning all - geez I have missed so much the last few days! Feel like I can never catch up! lol LMAO @ the stuck Barbie and the bird nest - wayyy too cute!!Would be funny if you could find some of those lil decorative birds in those colors and put them in the nest one morning - she would be so surprised! lol I so enjoy the girls antics - esp now that my kids are grown - brings back good memories. One of my favs was the day my son rigged up a hard stale donut with fishing line so that it hung on ceiling with a trip wire across the doorway to the den. When I got home and went to walk into den, i of course pulled the trip wire and the donut came flying down and hit me in the head. I was laffing tooo hard to be mad at him Got my veggie bed and bf/hb bed up and going and the weather goes crazy - I don't ever remember having such cold weather this late into April. I covered the veggies with sheets and broke a zucchini - drats! but from what ppl have told me - I will have way more zucchini than I know what to do with - i planted 4 plants. Who likes zucchini bread? lol think I will be baking alot besides having a freezer full. April - mud is a great present - congrats! that's what DH bought me for my b/d present this year - he couldn't believe thats what I wanted. He told ppl - but that's what she asked for lol And he found a great lil wagon at Wally world for like $60 that has a lever that lets the bed drop down to dump stuff. Gotta love this man who is so very supportive of me despite the fact that his fav plant is a dead one lol Fishy - I have to agree with Tracy - there is something about that flannel - so manly and very snuggable ;) I know what you mean about not wanting them to decorate inside lol My DH is a big New Orleans Saints and a wrestling fan. When I first met him he had a Stone Cold Steve Austin throw as bedroom curtains - yukkkkkkk lol When we moved into our new house i told him he could put all his stuff in the den and that would be his "man cave" I get to decorate the rest of the house, with the except of a few of his martial arts belts and trophies in the computer room. Congrats to Tracy and Linda for winning the ghost story contest! Show us pics of your flowers when they grow. Almost time for partners - can't wait - had so much fun with the last one! I realized I do have something that blooms at night - hmm actually two things - DUH that I could send my p - someone needs to tell me how to ship cuttings please. Michele -I love talla's belief in butterfly fairies - so sweet! that was weird with tabor - wonder what they were burning? Are you feeling better? I hope so - what is that syndrome called where ppl get depressed during winter b/c lack of sun - apparently very common. Many that illusion thingy had my eyes crossed lol Oh man - Michael Johns singing on The morning Show on Fox - can't believe he got booted offa AI last week - think there were a couple of others that should have gone before him IMHO anyway lol Tracy - love the dog pics - too funny! You have yourself a hand full and a half with Jack. LOL kathy - sorry to hear about your migraine -ouchy I get them too - they are sooo not nice! Will probably get to the post office today or tomorrow and get those vases out to you. Hows the wedding plans coming? Pixie - tell me what part of Texas again? I do have oldtimers ya know?! lol Am thinking we are not that far from each other. We should find a plant show somewhere in the middle to go to together. Poor Fox did not look happy with that snake lol Your house sounds like mine used to be - kids were always bringing pets home and mama could never say no lol Ok I have spent an hour reading and trying to respond to all - hope I didn't miss anyone - take care all and hope you have a warm and sunny day - or at least warm and sunny thoughts! Em |

| Good Morning! Michele, I saw an episode of Oprah with Dr. Oz about Seasonal Affective Disorder, depression is definitely affected by lack of sunlight. There were a couple things that were recommended for people who feel down when it is cloudy for long stretches. One was to keep grow lights in your house. You could use one of the spot style of lights and keep it in the corner of a room and keep it within your line of site. This is supposed to be a big help. The other is to take vitamin D supplements. This is what our bodies get from direct sunlight and it helps. Here is a link from the Mayo Clinic on using Light Therapy to help, they have some warnings on using it with severe forms of bipolar disorder. The Mayo Clinic calls for using a light box specific for the disorder but Dr. Oz was the one who mentioned keeping a grow light in the corner of a room that you are in to help provide the "sunlight" you will need to help. Talk to your doctor and see if he thinks it would help with the meds you are already taking. Em, I wanna come too! I wish I lived close to you and Pixie so I could tag along! Ooooooooh that would be so fun! Ya like my doggies, eh. Well, come on over for dinner at my house and that is what the kids look like after a spaghetti dinner! LOL! I love your son's donut trap! That was hillarious! They are stinkers aren't they?! Hmmm, better lock up your wagon, I might have to come over there and steal it one night. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Mayo Article on S. A. D.

| WOW ya'll were talkative eh??? Michelle, thats a new snake, his other one is a ball python and it is kept at a friends house. This one is a corn snake and Alan has a tank in his room for it. Kathy I love your stories! I agree with you on the depression thing. It is something that can knock the insides outta you thats forsure. Since Cole left I have had terrible bouts of depression and have always had anger issues. Michelle cabin fever is very real and the best therapy for it is a dose of sunshine, very true!!! OHHH Kathy I feel for you and the migraines they are horrible!! Thanks Fishy, would you please email me the info and I will pass it along. | I think it's a sitiuational thing. I was a teen in the 90's, and had what was thought to be the "cool job" of working in my Dad's music store, across the street from high school. So for me flannel is a very specific "I wanna play bass just like Kurt Cobain" vibe. I listened to alot of very awful renditions of the Smells like teen spirit intro. I actually planned on being a music teacher, but those have been cut more and more from schools, (and I really hate the recorder, and hot cross buns). No worries, the best part of the job, was that Dad payed on commission, and when you're a busty little thing, it's easy to talk boys into *needing* a new drumset for thier birthdays (disclaimer, we did explain that the first thing needed was not an expensive instrument, but lots of pratice, but people want to be great instantly, and buy the expensive stuff regardless). The real trick to that job was to never, ever pick up an instument on the floor and play myself (no guy wants the girl behind the counter to out drum him, no matter how cute you are). Used to annoy the crap outta my brothers that I could get more cash by "playing dumb". |

| Hmmm... judging by the comments this morning already, I'd say that everyone's ready for this list! :) Before I put it up, I wanted to make a couple notes: Ms. Fishy, I need your address, please :) I hope the move is going well! Jamie, I need to know your preference on cuttings :) Krista- I need you to get back to me with all the info I requested, please. For those sending to and receiving from Linda, she may be a little delayed, she's had a recent death in the family, so please be patient with her. She's a wonderful trader and generous soul :) I only mention her sorrow in case her post wasn't seen on the Seeds side. Hopefully the bolding and color will make it easy to read who your partners are :) And hopefully I've gotten everyone paired, if not, PLEASE let me know! Be sure to post or email your sending partner with the Delivery Confirmation Number so they can anticipate getting it by it's progress! Can't wait to see what kinds of goodies everyone gets! So be sure to list them! jaleeisa Sends to lindaruzicka lindaruzicka Sends to pamperedavonchefof3 dirt_under_my_nails Sends to nikkineel hazelnutbunny Sends to jaleeisa fishymamas Sends to shadymeadow medontdo Sends to emsgarden allisonlwise Sends to llbean emsgarden Sends to dan_the_mailman shadymeadow Sends to medontdo debbya Sends to fishymamas veeja11 Sends to allisonlwise pamperedavonchefof3 Sends to sassybutterfly_2008 nikkineel Sends to newarkslones dan_the_mailman Sends to veeja11 llbean Sends to dirt_under_my_nails newarkslones Sends to happyseed sassybutterfly_2008 Sends to hazelnutbunny |
