    Hi All,
I've been working as hard as as I can hobbling around to get a lot of gardening done. Plus I'm trying to split all my WSed containers so I can bring them to the local GW plant swap on Sunday. I did the cemetery drive through for pots yesterday. I always run out of small pots! I did score a large pot of lilies someone had on a gave too. The blooms were gone so they trashed it. Think of this, it all sounds so trashy, lol. Actually Gary was calling me Auntie Nana to his sister. Auntie Nana was his old aunt from the depression era who saved EVERYTHING including tin foil, lol.
I'm driving out to plant the family graves today. Last week it was just too crummy out. Maybe I'll score more pots, lol.

    Annie,
    Lol! Liar : )
I hope the weather didn't turn out too bad for you.

    Jeanne,
A horse on the toe, ouch!

    Susie,
    Congrats!
Pretty soon all your eye stuff will be over and you'll be like new : )

    Maryanne,
I'm with you on the Olive Garden. I wouldn't of picked it either. I went there once with a relative and it wasn't good at all.
My brother-in-law got my sister-in-law a rain barrel for Mother's Day. I thought that was a sweet gift. Not very romantic, but perfect for a gardening mom!

    Shirley,
I loved the WWII photo of your dad. He was a handsome young man.
I said before the article reminded me of my grandma. She was born in 1900 lived in Niagara Falls and never went anywhere. Her big trip as a young woman was to Buffalo to see Rudolph Valentino on stage. Well, she did go to a family wedding in Chicago as an old lady, but that was it. Family was her big thing. She wasn't a really affectionate woman either, but you still knew how much she cared. She had the same ethics as your dad. : )

Hello ladies, Laura, I have your box ready to mail on Wednesday. Finally! The DC# is 0307 1790 0005 5259 5361

Maryanne, I am fine, although I was within 10 miles of it. My parents and I had gone to my niece's college graduation that afternoon. We were at her dorm outside having a picnic reception, but soon went inside when it started to thunder and rain. We were told to go to the basement as the tornado was supposed to be heading our way. It didn't, though. The devestation is just mind boggling. One of the ladies who died is a sister of one of our school bus drivers. It is being called an enhanced F5. At one point it was 1 mile wide although most of the time it was 1/2 mile wide. Hundreds of people have no homes, the high school is gone, 1/2 of the downtown, fire station, huge grain elevator. The only people they are letting into the town during the day are those who live there. Then they have to leave at dark. I know that our elementary has offered to take in some of their kids during the day so that parents don't have to worry about daycare/what to do with them, etc. At this point it is all in limbo. Parkersburg is about 30 miles away from where I live. It all just leaves a person with a very sick feeling. At least people had time to take cover as the sirens did sound in town. Most of those who died were elderly. It is going to take a very, very long time to get everything cleaned up.

Shirley, I owe you a daylily and a hosta. I have the daylily, but I am waiting for the hosta. It was from the TD's group.

    Mary Ellen,
Oh my goodness, I had no idea such a huge tornado ripped through a town so close to you! I can't imagine what it is like when something like that happens.

Shirley, Again, thanks so much for hosting this month, and I enjoyed it very much. "Pest" came to us as a stray. You could tell who ever had her before took good care of her because she just couldn't get enough of people. We advertised, but no-one answered our add we put in the paper for her. She was always under your feet, and would come running when she saw me outside working in the yard. She got sick, I took her to the vet, and the rest is history. Due to the fact that someone shot one of my other cats that accidentally got out, and the leg was amputated to the shoulder we watch very close that no cat gets out.

Mellen, I'm was thinking of you the other day when I found out the storm hit. I know last year when the tornado went through where I lived in southwest Iowa, the damage was just unbelievable. The house we owned before moving here is no more. My thoughts and prayers go out to those involved.

Remy, LIar??? :O) :O) I will play another game here when I get back home today. No, it is not trashy looking for pots. We search for flower saddles that go on the stones that people throw away because sis makes nice cemetary arrangements for our family and friends.

I had to make an emergency run to work, lets just say some staff were not so nice to some of the people we serve. I'm so upset because this happened to people I'm very close and attached to; it is just unacceptable, and no words can express how sad I am today.

While I'm in town I might as well pick up supplies that we need at home.I will post more when I return home with a game.

    LIFE IS GOOD,
    Annie

missg-Have you heard anything about the missing swap box?
Please let me know when you get any info.

Mellen-I heard about the tornadoes in your state...whew that was to close for comfort only being 10 miles from you.
It gives you such a sad feeling for the ones involved, my heart goes out to all those.

Annie-So sorry to hear about the staff being ugly to some people. My philospy is if they don't care to be ugly to me I can be ugly back. I can remember the first job I ever had, a lady who did not even know me was so ugly to me that she made me cry several times. One day I decided to let her have it and asked her to go outside and we could settle whatever her problem was. She backed down big time and was so NICE to me after that. I learned some of their mouths get them in big trouble and they are not going to back it up. It sure made me feel better as a person.

Gale-I know you are glad April received your box. What a nice box too. I forgot to dig up my caladiums last winter and I lost them. I loved the way they dressed up the flower beds all summer.

DH has been killing rabbits..they eat my veg. garden up every year. But poor Hanna (our Husky) is scared to death of the gun shots. She is laying in front of the door and won't move. I can't go out that door with her laying in front of it. She is not even allowed on the porch but I guess she doesn't care right now.

Have fun Shirley, and no, try again.

A couple other hints... (1)This snack does not have to be frozen, and (2)it may help slow aging, prevent heart disease, deter cancer, lessen allergy symptoms, and eye strain, and fight certain skin diseases. In recent studies when they use this in an extract it has been shown to lessen cellulite, and lower cholesterol and blood pressure levels.

    Hope this helps! :O) :O)

Shirley, I eat them frozen more in the summertime, and I think they are kinda addictive. So easy to do, just freeze them on a cookie sheet, or in a cluster in a bowl them put them in a freezer baggy. I think they can be froze for up to 3 months, but they never last that long around me.

I love the look of the iris. I'm going to say tool and die?

Morning.. Joke for the day (ps my mother sent me this)

    ROSES & HANGING BASKETS

    A teenage granddaughter
    comes downstairs for her date
with this see-through blouse on and no bra.
Her grandmother just pitched a fit,
telling her not to dare go out like that!
    The teenager tells her
    'Loosen up Grams.
    These are modern times.
You gotta let your rose buds show!'
    and out she goes.
The next day the teenager comes down stairs,
and the grandmother is sitting there with no top on.
    The teenager wants to die.
She explains to her grandmother that she has friends coming over
and that it is just not appropriate....
    The grandmother says,
    'Loosen up,
    Sweetie.
If you can show off your rose buds,
then I can display my hanging baskets.

    Happy Gardening.

    Carol,
I think you've got a native fritillaria. Check the link below. Melissa's post of toad lily got my brain rolling.(lol, sometimes it needs a push.) Fritillarias are in the lily family.

    Melissa,
I asked the lady if I had written her address wrong. She said no, but I had addressed it to her GW name. So the dingbats at her small town post office put a big ? mark next to it. LOL! She called on Tuesday to ask if they had seen the pkg. since it was distinctive in an actual "live plants" shoe shaped box, and I had put a pretty floral address label on it. Maybe they thought it was a bomb, LOL.

    Laura,
    LOL! That's a good one!
    Remy

Here is a link that might be useful: Fritillaria lanceolata

    Hello everyone

I'm not a part of this trade, but I wanted to give a message to earthlydelights. I'm very interested in trading with you. You have a lot of lily cultivars that I'm looking for and I have a lot of the things on your want list. You have no e-mail on your page, so I was forced to post a message through a forum. Please e-mail me at someguy00273952@yahoo.com if you're interested and we can talk about this more.
