Hello
This swap is for Irises only, tall, short, bearded, water, siberian and so onnnnnnn

how would you like to do it

#1 I set up partners and you exchange boxes

#2 everyone lists what colors(with picks if possible)they
have and we each pick the box they want to receve.
first come first pick.

#3 or everyone sends me the irises they have for the trade
and I sort them and send everyone back diffrent.
this way if you have only one kind you can send
several of them and get a rainbow of colors back .

let me know how you would like to do it, ship date would be for july so hopfully all the irises are done blooming.

sign ups start now and go till june 10th
I will try to get picks of what I have offer soon
thanks michelle

ps my e-mail has changed so please check my exchange page for my new one

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I would love to expand my iris collection and since I cannot keep my plants labeled, I could care less about named Irises. I have several varieties that I could split at the end of their growing season this year. I would ideally vote for the last one but that seems like too much work for one person and a ton of aggravation. Let me know what you decide.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Count me in! I would love to get new ones and have several to trade! I vote for #2, because shipping would be double. Once to you, then shipping back to us. That gets expensive.

Thanks Michelle for sponsoring this swap...please count me in.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Ooooh... Ok. I love irises. I would love to participate and any way you want to do it is fine with me. I really like #3 the best but I agree it gets expensive that way (I like this one for ones that have a ton of one type and want to share it with the group. #2 would be great also because I like picking:-)

I am reallying looking for two toners (really want a white with dark purple beard. I Love irises. I can't decide which I like more iris or lilys its a toss up for me.

I am in too..:) I also like # 3 Great idea Michelle..:) Barb

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Count me in on this one. I'll need to get out and label some iris post haste as most of mine have already gone off and they are in mixed beds. What ever you decide Michelle on the logistics, I can come up with three or four colors to send.

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I want to play too! I agree, I'll go for whatever you decide works best for you, Michelle. Thanks for hosting, Marea

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I know I have two colors for sure...I will post pics later one...One is short and the other one is real tall.... The tall one is white with yellow in it...The shorter one is light purple.... I might have others too..I have to wait for them to bloom yet here in WI...:)))

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

hello
well it looks like this one is a go
I potted up several new irises for the swap, my mother in lay gave me some of hers and a nice man down the street traded me some of his.
I will post picks as soon as I figure out how to on this new computer/ISP

myvote is for #2 or #3 I know the shipping would be more for the #3 but if you only have 1 or 2 kinds it would be great for getting 8 or 10 back all (hopfully) diffrent.
if we do small tubers and cut the tops down to a few inches you can get quite a few in a small flat rate box($5 each way) if you buy your postage sticker online DC#'s are free, that saves a little both ways.
but I don't want to make anyone feel like they have to do it. if someone wants to trade with more than one person, that is another way to get more veriety if you just have a few kinds but that is still shipping 2 boxes.

#2 is a fun way to do it and I don't mind trading with 2 or maybe 3 people, as long as they are small boxes. I could send 3 people one tuber each of 4 or 5 diffrent iris.

well I have t go
well do it some how
evan if some people want to do #2 and some #3
well I'm getting confused

see ya later

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Michelle,

I would like to join! I would love to get different irises.

Betsy

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I would be willing to do 2 and 3. I think the small box is an excellent idea and would be perfect for shipping both ways. I think we should also try and keep the ones coming in somewhat different so I would suggest maybe have everyone post up what kinds they have to offer so we have an idea.

I have these kinds I can send in (not sure if these are the actual names but the images online when googled look exactly like them:

Black Tie Bearded Iris
Bearded Iris 'Clarence'
yellow with a goldish brown fall

** And I think I can divide up some of my step fathers and add them to the list. I can send 4-5 of each if there is interest in them. Let me know which to send, if someone else is planning on send the same we can co-ordinate so that I can send more of one of the others noone has to offer it that makes any sense. ??

Tammy

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I have tons of purple and yellow siberian, I also have light purple and deep purple bearded. I have some white, yellow, blue, brown and yellow. Not really sure what I have lots of because mine have not started to bloom yet but I can post pictures when they do.
diene

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I am interested. How are we to label these iris? Most of mine have already bloomed and I am not positive that I can correctly identify all of them. Is it okay to label some of them as 'probably purple' or something like that?

#3 is fine with me, or #2 if that is what people prefer.

Becky

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Here's a link to my Iris photo's. I have several unknowns that I can trade. I have a few more that I need to upload to this site and will do so when I get a chance. In the meantime feel free to look at the pretty daylilies.

Hugs to all,

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I would like to join this swap. I have a few irises that I can send several each of in colors lavender, white, pink, and purple. I also have a light rusty orange and a darker rusty orange that I can send a couple of each. I would like some two toned irises or solid red and some blue irises.
I would be happy with either option 2 or 3.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

hello everyone
ramazz - it is ok with me if you put "maybe yellow" sort of lables. each rizome needs to be marked, if you send a beg of several I will then have to mark each as I put them in the boxes, I want a fast turnaround so the irises get back in the ground as fast as possible.

is there anyone that dose not want to do #3?
#3 everyone sends me the irises they have for the trade
and I sort them and send everyone back diffrent.
this way if you have only one kind you can send
several of them and get a rainbow of colors back .

if there are several I can match you up and the rest can all send to me for swap style. if you do #3 please send money for small, med, or large flate rate box that way I can stuff your boxes and not have to worry about weight.
also send a note with what kind or iris you still have at home I will try to send things you don't have.

will everyones irises be done bloomong by the end of june? I was thinking of june 29th for a ship date, I can get them back out by the 6th maybe sooner. if you send useing a flat rate box you can get your shipping lable and pay online then you don't have to pay for the dilivery confirmation (it's free)and you can also get it picked up at your door, so you don't have to worry about going to the PO(well I hope some of you can do this, I know some people in rural areas can't)

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Michelle,
OK, we send a you a small priority box on June 29th with as many individually labeled iris as we can get into it. We also enclose $5 return postage and a return label for our return box. That sound right?
Dee

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Hello Michelle;
I was hoping for more of the medium flat rate box. The post office now labels what we used to call the small as medium since they now have that VCR size box. I do not think you can reuse the small ones but you can the medium size.
My Irises started blooming on Tuesday morning and then the rain came. I have pictures which is fortunate because they are drowning right now. I am so sad as I was watching them bud out and looking forward to enjoying them. Such is life.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

hello
the size box is up to you, if you send a med you get a med back, if you send a small you get a small back. you may evan get more back than you send. you never know. I can reuse the boxes or get new ones for free. sorry to hear about the rain diene, some of mine had to be stacked due to lots of wind right before they were due to open.

Dee you have it right, but I may need to make a small change in the ship date I will post if I need to change it

have a great day everyone

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Debbie your iris pictures are beautiful. Especially the unknown light blue japanese iris. I Love it.

Tammy I hope you send alot of the clarence type iris. I just looked it up. It is so pretty.

Can you all tell I like blue. I'm off to take pictures of my irises while it is still somewhat dry.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Here are some that I know I have enough to trade. I have others without pictures. Please note that I have 'named' them based on an iris that looks similar to me. This does not mean that the name is correct! Plus I have to figure out the locations of some based on memory since the flowers are long gone.

Iris plicata Barrister?

Tequila Sunrise

Eolian Louisiana iris

Ann Chowning LA iris

Alcazar

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Oh I sooooo want one or two of the tequlia sunrise and the ann chowning those are two of my favorite colors.

Ooooh I am getting excited about this. I figure that number three has better option shipping because i only have those three in my yard and I can send 4-5 of each and get back 15 plants that are different. Yeah! I am so excited I have been wanting different color irises. Thanks everyone for joining the swap. I can't wait.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

hello
ok I'll have to change the ship date to july 6th, I forgot about a trip we are taking.
I hope this dose not mess anyone up.
don't worry about having irises that others have ifyou each send if you each send a few than I will be able to send them to diffrent people.
most of us will have purple, but maybe they are diffrent purple, I for instance, have some minis, not short but small but very numerous flowers both in bi-colored purple and solid med purple. w will all have a few kinds others don't have. I'm loving the yellows and the white, the yellow and red are very pritty.

I will try to get some picks posted

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Hi Michelle and all, I would like to possibly join this swap if you do #3. As some of you already know, my husband is going in for a very risky operation next week and then may be up for immediate transplant.

I would like to join but am not sure if I can follow through depending on how things go. If you do #3 and I cannot follow through, I would not feel like I cheated anyone...that is if everyone agrees that they are ok with me not sending at the last minute if John has complications.

Does that make any sense? Anyway, let me know if this is ok with everyone before I commit. I have a lot of 3-4 colors I would like to share. Kim

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Kim, from my perspective, you are welcome. I don't feel like any of us is promising to send a specific iris to someone else, so if you have to drop out, it just means we don't get to enjoy your irises. I will keep your husband in my prayers and hope that you will get to participate in the swap.

Becky

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I'd like to join in! I think number 3 offers the best chance for everyone to get a variety. Can anyone guess how many iris we can fit in a small box?

The main iris I can send in is light yellow:
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I think diene's yellow and mine look really similar?

and I can send a couple that are bicolor purple/white. White standards.

I'd love to get:
"true" red
any blues, blue with white especially
short
super-early (like iris cristata)
the Clarence-ish iris
or the Barrister-ish
white
darker yellow (I already have yellow flag)
etc.!

I do have a lot of not-yet-flowered Siberian iris, so I'm not looking for any more of that right now.

Thanks for organizing this, Micyrey!

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I agree with Becky, Kim is welcome if it fits her schedule but the final decision really rests with Michelle. The end of June is also fine as everything should have bloomed by then even in Maine.
diene

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Michelle, I love this idea would like to be included.
I have a good supply of a yellow iris and a few dark purples that I can send.
Thanks

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Tammy, I would like a Black Tie and the yellow/goldish brown one. I am looking for iris that are colors other than purple (heresy, I know) but I do like dark purple ones. I love the white ones, the yellow ones, don't have any red ones except a reddish bicolor I think is 'Indian Chief.' I think I have the one that stage_rat posted (Flavescens? is it lightly scented?) I have a couple that are blue (in my opinion) but they were divided last year so I will have to see whether there are enough to split.

Becky

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Hello Beth, where have you been? Where did you land? Are you back in Maryland?
This is going to be twice as much fun since you joined. I think everyone is looking for colors other than Purple Becky, I also do not want anymore yellows. I do have a few blue, I think and I also think I can send some of the burgundy & yellow ones.
Only half of mine have started blooming so I may have some other colors to contribute. I did get a huge box in a trade last year but they were small divisions and I think only one of them is going to bloom this year.
Well we have a month to figure all this out. I will not send any purple if no one wants them which is a shame as I have lots of them.
diene

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Would anyone be interested in iris seed? I just recieved some dark purple/ purple iris seeds that I could send in with a few smaller plants.
~Laura

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I'll take a picture of my yellow iris with my hand in the photo, so we can get an idea of how big it is--some of the other people's yellows may be bigger. Mine is about 18" tall, I'll measure that.

I do have purple iris already, but I know there's more than one shade out there! Mine is quite dark, and again somewhat small. I'll take a picture of it, too. I don't mind getting other shades or sizes. I think mine are early-blooming, as they and the yellow are the first to open. I have a named iris that is an early-mid and it hasn't opened yet.

I've received a lot of iris seed in trades, so no thanks on seed for me.

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Lol I only have two colors to share and one is purple/bluish to me... The other one is getting ready to bloom I will take pics as soon as it does.. This one is shorter than the other one...I would say medium size... I didnt know iris smelled I need to smell it..Lol :)

Michelle - Is there anyway we can make requests and have our name put on a couple of the ones we reallly want??? Or is it all by chance? I wasn't sure and don't want to request any to have my name on them if you don't want to do it that way. HI Michele, if it isn't too late, I would love to join this swap. I have 2 antique varieties. 1 is a solid white and the the other is a deep dark purple with a yellow beard. These came from a relative who planted them 60 years ago. so I know they are historic, but I do not know their names.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Hello Tammy;
I am not sure I will have extras of that. The particular one blooming is not big enough to split but there may be some that have yet to bloom in another garden.
I followed your lead and will ask
Don- your golden one and orangy
Becky- Barrister, Ann Chowning & of course the tequila sunrise but many people have already asked for that so do not worry if you do not have enough.
Nancy you had a beautiful white with an orange throat
Tammy- your black tie is beautiful
Denise you had pale rusty orange, red rusty orange, wine colored and a bi color with pink and purple, they are all lovely.
Deb- I looked at your photobucket and the unknowns I found stunning were mostly reds and pinks. Your descriptions were "in front of meat house", fr. side fountain, north side of greenhouse, unk border bearded which I believe was a deep purple.
So I am looking at some yellows and purples, just not the ones I have.
I realize that is a long list and they are wishes not needs so...
I truly have not met a flower I did not like, I just love them all.

I like all the irises but would especially like a few specific ones if people are putting names on them.

Becky I would be so happy to have one of each of your Tequilla sunrise, ann chowning and plicata barrister if you do not mind writing my name on them:-)

Tammy I will write your name on "white/pinkish (My favorite one so far-1st one) wine color, pink/purple and bi-color butterfly". I would love to have a couple of your Clarence iris.

Debbie(budsnblooms)If you are sending any of the unknown blue japanese iris I would really love one. It would be my number 1 pick:)

Don I would like one of your peachy orange and yellow if it is darker than my yellow one I have pictured. It looks like it is to me:)

I don't mind getting a few purple ones also. I have alot but I'm sure there are ones that I don't already have.

michelle:
your # 1 and 3 interest me.

Mareas the coral colored one is the only one of yours I do not have.

If people do remember to mark them, fine but I do not want to make any more work for you michelle. I will be happy with whatever you send and if they are things I already have, I will share them with friends.
I am not sure if I have posted my new crop but I do not have the time today. I need to get my act together as DH is taking me for a hot air balloon ride in the morning and we are leaving this afternoon for the balloonists location.
This will be my second time up, I was terrified last time which made the ride less fun. I am hoping I am over that and can just enjoy the experience.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Here are the 2 iris I have to share. Sorry the pictures are not so good as I have a really cheap camera. I have enough so everyone who wants one can have 1 of each. My only request is that someone keep count for me if at all possible as John is going in for surgery on Tuesday and I am not sure when I will get back online. Kim

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I see that a lot of people are interested in the iris I listed as 'Tequila Sunrise.' LOL I found this iris while walking the dog. Someone had dug a bunch of iris and hostas up and dumped them out for the trash collector. I had no idea what I was getting but I was not going to leave them there. When they bloomed, I almost died laughing, because one of the local high schools has gold and purple as their school colors, and I thought, well, the kids graduated and it was time to get rid of the iris. As I stated when I first posted, my iris bloomed pretty early and I cannot guarantee that I know exactly which ones are which. I know that 'TS' is in the backyard, but there are others there, too. So I will do my best to guess on these, but it would have been easier if they were blooming when the swap started! The Louisiana iris are easier because I only have 2 kinds and they have a different shaped leaf and rhizome.

Becky

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Marea, The more I look at your iris in picture one the more I like it. I think it would look great near my baptisia and they should be blooming around the same time. If you have enough could you put my name on one of them too.

Thanks,
Denise

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I have taken more pictures of my iris and got out the tape measure, boy was I wrong about their heights! I guess they shot up taller shortly before blooming.

For all the purple and yellow iris people out there, if we take some measurements, and judge the bloom time based on our other iris, or other iris in town, we may figure out if our iris is the same, or different enough to want! Since most of all I have to send is yellow or purple, I think it's fair that I get some too--I just don't want to pay postage to get the exact same thing I'm sending! Both my purple and my yellow looks really close to rosepedal's iris.

Sorry about the comments that look like links, it's because I messed around with the photo links. These are thumbnails, btw:
purple: adjusted to try for its real color. 33" top bloom, lower at 27" early-mid bloom
/

yellow: part shade, so flowers are a little small: 32" top, 26" lower
/

My bicolor, I can only send a couple of these: early-mid bloom, the standard is white, I adjusted the color to make the falls more true.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Stage Rat, I love that bicolored purple/white! Would you mind putting my name on one please? I have a light lavender tall one if youre interested in purples, I think it smells like grape soda.

Plant-one-on-me, is that second one brownish? Ive never seen one like that! And do send the best to hubby for us.

I think I can only send 1 or 2 "Autumn Circus" (white with blue streak edges) and if a bunch of people want it let me know, Ill draw names for it (if thats OK with people).

I also was given some that were pretty sure are a dark maroonish.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Hi Everyone,

This is a list of your iris I have picked out so far. Michelle, mainly I would like historic, heirloom, Siberian except for dark purple, flags, LA iris, some water iris, although I love TBI's, I would like some of the other sizes. I like reds, bi and tri tones, oranges, whites, yellows, tans and browns...anything but I have lots of purples...so I would want the number I receive kept to a minimum please.

Here's what I have picked so far:
rosepedal-I would like the tall white and yellow
diene-yellow siberian, blue, and brown and yellow.
antiqueorchid-pink, rusty orange, dark rusty orange, &/or pics #1,2,3,5,7,11
dem pa-mini purples, the yellow, and yellow and tan in pic #'s 6&7.
ramazz-the purpe & white, and reds in pictures #1 & #4.
jaceysgranny-white #1, and white and purple #3
ibartoo-2 historic iris
cjcjmass-yellow
micrey-#1,#2,#6,#7, #8
marea-#3, #4
claylady-white short, dawn to dusk yellow, yellow and burgundy, siberian, and LA Iris.
Plant one on me-would like some of both is you can do it
lilangel181-Autumn circle if possible and dark maroonish.

I don't want to sound greedy...please just use this as a general guide to what I would like. I love iris and will be happy with whatever you send. Just make it easy on yourself. Thanks for sponsoring this, it sounds like it is going to be a lot of work.

Debbie/budsnblooms

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Just taking a minute to check in. Hubs is going in the hospital on Monday so I am not sure when I'll be checking in again. I am trying to borrow a laptop with wireless as I think I can get connected in the hospital.

lilangel/Laura--the second iris is sort of a goldish/brownish color with a burgundy/brownish color around the edge. I have lots of them but have never seen them anywhere else.

Please put me on the list for Autumn Circus...put me last and let anyone else who wants it go first since I am not sure if I can follow through and don't want anyone else missing out.

If it is ok with Michelle, I think it would be easier for me if I could just send in like 10 (or more if requested) of each kind. You could send to those who request them and just throw the extras into boxes or even keep them for yourself. Do you think this will work? I think that even if John is still in the hospital or sick, I could get my daughter to package them up for me.

Speaking of packing them up...what is the best way to do this? I was thinking of writing the color on a leaf and trimming off the rest. But then how do I pack them?

Is anyone interested in seedlings?
Last year I grew some american classic bearded iris from seed, siberian iris from seed and a few african iris from seed. I have never seen any of these bloom, but I can offer them for trade too.
I have just started collecting iris, but any you send will be greatly appreciated.
I also have a light lavender and multicolored iris that I received in a trade, but I only have 1 of each of those.
Thanks, Linda

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Debbie/budsnblooms-I am also interested in your Paris, Keizers H., Queens circle and cloud ballet irises. I love all of these and so many more:)

I have enough for everyones request so far and still be able to send extras. The rusty red is getting close to it's limit though.

What size box will I have to use to send around 35 iris? The large flat rate priority box? Or larger?

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I love iris, so any I get will be greatly appreciated. I would love to have some with more than 1 color if possible and/or some with names it doesn't matter. I will give them a good home. I cannot however grow water iris. This sand wouldn't hold water if you glued it together. LOL
Thanks, Linda

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Good Evening;
Let me try to answer some questions I noticed while perusing this thread. Michelle, you can split your irises anytime they seem to be getting crowded, once they bloom they are settled enough to fool with. I generally lift with a pitchfork and it will usually break at a weak spot which I figure is a good thing. I will then either shake the dirt off or soak them to get the dirt off. Each division should have at least one fan and some roots. They are easy to mark with a sharpie and trim the fans but if you are sending several of one kind it would probably help Michelle if you could bag all of one kind together, paper is better than plastic as it breathes. I received a box of irises last year from a trader that had I believe twenty four different kinds. They were all one fan divisions and none have bloomed yet but they fit in a large box. They also do not weigh much so if you are geographically close to Michelle, you may be better off not using the one rate box, I also do not think we really need to use priority as they should survive. When I receive daylilies or irises, I usually soak them overnight before planting.
I am not sure I answered all the questions but I tried.
light purple and white (medium)
back garden 2
Tall yellow (only a few to share)
upclose front yellow
small light purple
garage short ones
medium size
dining room back
These are the new blooms I have to share.
The White one I showed you last time does not have enough to share. That was it's only bloom. Sorry.
My purple siberian are almost in bloom and I do have a few to show you that I cannot share as they only have one fan.
another dining
orange backyard
root and purple
back garden
Any other questions, let me know.
I will let you know when my irises have gone by as I think I am probably the last one to bloom.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I have large two-tone purple, it's really stunning, yellow, and maybe white and peach. I need to check what's labeled.
Here is my "wish list"
Both of "plant-one-on-me's"
Any red, brown, or pink, not adverse to some different purples.
I would love japanese or siberians.
The gophers have been ruthless this year and I am re-planting a lot of my iris in wire cages or doubled plastic pots. I've managed to keep them out of the flower garden proper but the rest of the yard (I have my iris everywhere) is one big gopher swimming pool!

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Yesterday DH was weedwacking the grass around my gardens and later 'fessed up that he had weedwacked one of my "yellowish" Irises. When I asked a few more questions I discovered that he had leveled the beautiful orange one above. Not only did he wipe it out but he heaved it back into the middle of the garden. He thought I might not notice!! It is now in a vase downstairs. Thank God he confessed, he would have been in big trouble when I discovered it.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I was checking outside today and I found some siberian iris and african iris seedlings. If anyone is interested in those, please let me know.
Linda

Diene, That orange one is stunning.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Diene, I couldn't help but laugh. Not at the abuse that your poor iris took but the idea that he thought it might go unnoticed. Yeah right!!! That sounds like my father-in-law but not quite as bad. He repeatedly mowed over the peonies. He weed ate some iris and pulled out the mums. Oops!! My mother-in-law is the most patient woman I know. Bless her heart:)

What are African Irises? I do not know what they are but I am intriqued.

If it is hardy, I want one!!

Just googled African Iris and I want one but not if a Maine winter is going to kill it. Is it hardy to zone five? If so, can I please have one Linda?
Thanks.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

hello
thanks for the info and lists of wants, I will use the lists to send each person a few of their wants, you don't have to mark the requests just list what irises they are and I will sort out who they go to(unless you want to mark them for someone.) an easy and cheep way to mark plants is to get cheep mini blinds($3 at walmart or lowes probubly other stores too) you can cut hundereds from one set of blinds, and ruber band or staple to a fan.

Kim becouse of your situstion(and I want you to be able to join in) if you can just put all irises of each kind in a paper bag or wrap in a sheet of news paper, then mark the bundle , I will mark each iris before packing them for others. sorry I can't do this for everyone, unless you send me a list of exacly how many of each you are sending, then I can have markers writen up before they get here. it would take too long to write up markers after they get here and I want to get them all out a few days after they get t my house.

diane my DH chopped down a red bud tree 4 of 5 times before I got him to understand that it is something that I want there, and to leave it alone. amazingly it is still alive.

11. piksi hk

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I will be writing directly on the iris. It won't hurt them and the there won't be a chance of loosing the tag. That is the way the last three people I traded irises did it as well. Hope you don't mind:)

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I am sending this on behalf of my sister. She has told me how much she enjoys her gardening and the friends she has here. I know she was in this trade and hope you can pass along the information where appropriate. Thank you, Tammy

Hello Everyone,
I am very sad to have to tell you that Kim Hill's husband John passed away Thursday following surgery. Kim says that John had accepted a surgery that was very risky, but could have also placed him on the liver transplant list. She says he had an extreme amount of bleeding that the doctors could not stop, and that the family was with him when he passed peacefully.
Viistation will be at the Obarzanek Funeral Home on Ryan Road, just north of 14 Mile Road, on Friday 3-8pm (service at 7pm), and Saturday 1-7pm. Kim says that John chose to be cremated, so there will be no procession.
Please keep Kim and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

I am so sorry to hear of Kim's loss. I will be sending extra money to you Michelle and will you send half of my irises to Kim along with any extra's you may have? She has too much on her mind now to even think about digging Irises but if a box of new ones showed up on her doorstep, it will give her the excuse to go out in the garden and relax.
By the way Michelle, my GW name as well as my nickname is diene not diane. My real name is Kathleen but that is not how anyone refers to me here. I thought it was a typo on the list as we have been in many trades together over the years.
Hope everyone else is well.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Diene, I think thats a wonderful idea and Ill also be sending a little extra money to help cover shipping to Kim. I would encourage others to do so as well, maybe we can stuff a large box for her with our condolences? I might also send some non-irises for her, I need to inventory what I have and what she may want off her wish list. Ill make sure its easy for you Michelle, dont worry about that.
All my thoughts to her and her loved ones,
~Laura

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Hello everyone! My sister told me today that she had posted my situation here and I wanted to stop in. I am sorry I have missed all the wonderful, kind words and sentiments!!!

I appreciate all of you and will check back in as soon as I am able. I am working very hard trying to get our affairs in order since John passed which is much more time consuming than I ever imagined. I need to get as much done as soon as possible so I can get back to work next week.

I have been trying to check my emails every couple days but otherwise have been on the computer trying to find out who, what and where to file papers and such. I'll check back as soon as I can.

Again THANK YOU all!!! Kim

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

It this point I am still in...the only irises available: peachy bearded one and a short yellow one. I can only trade a couple at this time of each.

I have purple and yellow flag iris if anyone is interested.

I would love to trade for other colors especially bi-colors,
pink, reds/burgundy, dark purple, Louisiana, Siberian; I guess anything really.

Kim,

My condolences to you and your family. My prayers are with you.

Betsy that peachy one is stunning, people will be fighting over that. I have already been too greedy so I will let someone else ask for it (if no one does, I want it!!). RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Michelle, please email me your address at
sportsalibi at yahoo.com

I am going to try to get the irises out to you but have a problem. I work 12 hour shifts on Sat and Sunday (3 and 4th) and have to be up in northern Michigan on Monday early in the day. I can dig and ship the plants to you on the 1st or 2nd but am concerned that they may sit around too long. Irises are pretty hardy and I have abused them a lot in the past so I am pretty sure it would be ok. If you think sending them to arrive on Monday is a problem let me know. Kim

ps thanks everyone for the happy thoughts!!!

 o
forgot

I forgot, how many of each color should I sent in? I was thinking 10 of each but can send more or should I just send one of each for all 19 of the others? Kim

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Hello Michelle;
If you were waiting for me, I can ship anytime. Do you want to try and do this before the fourth? I plan on sending all I have that I do not want at present moment and you can distribute them as you see fit. I will mark the ones that I have that people have requested but there are not too many of them.
If any of this does not meet with your approval, let me know. I am planning on separating the fans and bagging them separately inside the box. That way I figure you can just empty the bag into people's boxes. Does that work?
diene

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Good Morning All;
Here is what I am doing for this swap. I have started digging the irises and labeling the fans. I have some good size fans and some littler ones. The smaller ones I will send two, the larger only one. I am hoping that I will be able to pack paperbags for each person so Michelle can just redistribute.
I looked at everyone's pictures again and I am not packing

rosepedal- m yellow
antiqueorchid- m lilac, t burg & yellow
jaceysgranny- t burg & yellow
stage-rat - m yellow
dem pa- siberian, m yellow, m lilac, t burg & yellow

From the pictures, you all have these already and do not need to have more sent. My shorthand is "m" means medium height and "t" is tall.

If there is anyone else who already has these and does not want more, let me know. Send the e-mail to me directly at onemainelady@yahoo.com.

Michelle responded to me that she does not want anything to arrive until after the fourth so I am respecting her wishes as she is doing the lion's share of the work.
Thanks to everyone.

I can start receving boxes naxt week, if you want to ship sat, that is fine, but please wed at the latest. I would like to get all the boxes in by the end of next week. rember if you send a lot (30 or 50 fans) you may get some doubles back, it all depends on what is sent.
I have also made a list of those that have irises I have so I don't send them the same ones.

I will send someone a surprise bonus if they could help by e-mailing my address to the whole group. I have been very buisy and have limited time to spend on the computer. let me know.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Michelle, thanks for clarifying. I would be glad to e-mail your address to everyone, LMK if someone else is already doing it. I started digging this evening after work and will mail either on Friday or on Monday. Everyone, please, I am guessing on some of my iris because they had already finished blooming before this swap was announced. If you get one from me that isn't what it is labeled, please forgive me! Next year, I will label them as they bloom in case there is another swap. I am going to put in some that were not requested, so there will be surprises! I am not trying to send one of everything for everyone - if I did that, I wouldn't have any left.

Nancy/jaceysgranny, I have now sent the address to you 4 times at the e-mail address you provided. I hope one of them went through. The last one was this morning, when I responded to your e-mail to me. If none of the others worked maybe that one did, or maybe they got blocked by your spam filter. Send me another e-mail to let me know either way.

My box went out this morning. I had planned to mail on Friday, but had the same problem as Dee.

RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

Hello Michelle, et al;
Mine were mailed today and I sent it priority because it was so late. I do not need it to come back priority as my box cost quite a bit to send. I have the DC out in the car I will post later. I divided mine up and made a bag for everyone. I thought that would help Michelle. I made sure that I sent what people asked for or requested not to receive. I cannot think straight right now, I will post more when I can think better.

Hi Michelle,

Thank you so much for hosting this swap I had a wonderful time. My package went out today confirmation #03073330000215953902 I also enclosed some iris for kim. After shipping my box out please use the reminding money for shipping Kim's package.

Thankss again.

 o
RE: NEW: Un-Named Iris Swap

On the purple and yellow irises I sent in, I wrote things like the height, and when it blooms. I also put A.L., my initials, so you'll know who it came from.

I got mine mailed out today, I really should have been looking for the flat-rate boxes long before this! I ended up using a bigger box, then trying to switch, and the flat-rate box is much smaller, so I put them back in the bigger box, but I couldn't stuff them all in, so there are 2 fewer in there than I thought I was sending. The box looked a little funny, with iris roots poking out the seams :) They charged me ninety cents for DC! I need to be better prepared, and use all the tricks you regular plant-swappers use.

My DC#: 0306 1070 0004 7370 7007

Thanks, Michelle, for taking this on, I hope the sorting goes easily!

Sorry for the delay, but the box was shipped today! DC# 0103 8555 7497 7078 6545. Most are marked as unknown because my cats Rufus and Zoe were being 'helpful' and mixed the piles together before I could label them. Sorry if youre not into surprises! I also included $1 for shipping and a card for Kim's box.
