The Our Bloomin' Friends(OBF) group is a group of like-minded gardeners who are willing to commit to at least a year of "membership." Only current members qualify, ALTHOUGH, if you would like to become an OBFer, you must commit to at least 5 months of the year, trade or have traded with at least 2 current members, and be willing to send your package first. If you think you can agree to the guidelines, we would love to have you. If you would like to join in this months swap we will be doing the white elephant swap. Your box will consist of all plants. Each person participating this month will list the items they will be sending in their swap box. I will then put all the names of everyone participating into a bag and let Dawson draw from the names. I will then list the names in the order they will get to choose a swap box. Please sign up by June 5th.
You can sign up without posting the contents of your box right now. I for one need to decide what will be in my box. Shirley |

Take care everyone. Hoping everybody is safe and staying cool. Most of us seem to be in the grip of a relentless heat wave. It has been in the 90's here in NE Ohio. I think I'll melt if the heat continues much longer. Melissa, I hope things are drying out for you. Please let me know how things are going. Melinda and Faye, keeping you in my prayers. It's going to be a crazy month for me. My daughter is getting married in July so we are wrapping up final details. My wedding anniversary is on the 24th and I will be taking a 3 day weekend to celebrate. | Maryanne - I found it...we did this one back in 2009. deb took box #1 and then remy picked #3. along comes shirley lusting after herb(s) and just takes #1 from poor deb! so in turn, deb takes #7. my turn, i choose 6. jeanne, just in time gets that modem fixed and swoops in and takes #3 from remy. amybaby doesn't let jeanne even get the box in her hands and snatches it right up. jeanne decides to take #6 from me (mind you, i have never done anything to jeanne in my lifetime, and why she would take my box is beyond me!!!! LOL). my turn again, what to pick, what to pick...so i go for #5. treasa says, "poor maryanne, i'll show that jeanne" (LOL) and takes 6. jeanne decides to pick #10. (thank you, it's the box i am putting together and i was starting to get a complex that no one wanted it). april comes slinking into the room and takes #6 from treasa. treasa says, "why not, let me get in on those brugs and sweet bush" and up and takes #4 from amy who lost that box as quick as jeanne did from amy (by the way, how does it feel LOL). so amy takes 4. along comes "miss sorry sweetie" theresa and takes #5 from me. well now, my hands are empty, seems i can't hold onto a box, so i go back to my original pick #6, and unfortunately, i took it from april. so april takes #5 from theresa and theresa in turn takes 10 from jeanne. dottie, waiting in the wings, anxious to get a pick in, takes poor jeanne's #10 after all that work she went through to keep a box in her hand. jeanne is feeling lucky, she has that opportunity to get back into her original game and get #3. so far, so good. she's safe. treasa takes #9. and what does dottie do? she takes my box. dottie...dottie...dottie. i have an extra ticket to the morris arboretum. now i'm not sure if i am going to invite you LOLOLOLOL. okay, am i safe in choosing #5 again? sorry april, but i had it first. i'm thinking in the back of my mind, april is coming back with a vengence, can't you all just feel it . time to give dottie a taste of her box stealing medicine, right april? so now here we are, dottie takes #10 from theresa and theresa just can bear for me to have #5 and rips it out of my hands before i had a chance to hide it in the back shed. i'm telling you, i didn't need a shrink before this, but just now, after seeing it was again my turn, made an appointment and hopefully gain my confidence back LMAO! cut throated gardeners, the lot of you. We're down to the wire, and she has to make up her mind!!! Did any of you have this experience with your daughter yet? I'm more frazzled than she is!!! lol!!! | Too funny Shirley... I totally forgot that post. That was a great game just as this one will be. We are only doing one round, right? There was a game once when we did it in two rounds...thieving after thieving!!!! Is lasik surgery considered cosmetic? That will be my guess. It's been way too hot to be outside doing anything even when I get home from work....the temps are supposed to drop as we come into the weekend, so I will check things out and post my box, hopefully by Saturday. | Great write up about the swap in 2009. I remember that one well. Every time I picked a box it was gone and I was picking again. LOL (I told everyone you would have fun!!) Sue, best of luck with the wedding plans. We had two daughters get married and yes, it is a hectic time. Both of them lived out of state so lots of the leg work was on Mom. Of course, every decision had to be run by them, too, so sort of three steps to accomplish every one item. Shirley, I can't come up with a procedure that has not already been guessed that makes any sense to me so I won't guess. I wonder if when you disclose the answer it will surprise us. Well, my plants have been watered and I pruned a rose bush and an azalea and that will be it for me on the garden until I do a little more watering for the plants on the deck in a few hours. Sometimes I think my whole summer goes into watering plants! Jeanne |

| Maryanne- You are the winner I have had lasik and was so glad I did it. My age is catching up with me and I now need reading glasses but that's not as bad as the poor vision I once had. Faye-No-no certain # of plants. You decide on that. Maryanne - We will only be doing one round this time. Jeanne- I too water all Summer. Our pump that we use to pump water out of the pond has quit so we will have to buy a new one. I keep 3 hoses going constantly when I get home each eve. We need rain badly. Hi Amy thanks and we hope you have a great summer as well. Annie-Will miss you this month. This will be tough with all the nice boxes being put together. BUT that makes the stealing more fun. | Hey everyone. Beth, where are you that there's snow...are you back in alaska? I would welcome 24 degrees...the heatwave this week was a little too much, too soon. amy - how the heck are you? i hope you are coming back to the group. it's been a long time. how are your kids? shirley, i didn't even see that daylily you posted or that this was a contest. i remember just reading the question. beautiful flower - will be more than happy to welcome it to my garden. jeanne, after i read that, i had flashbacks about that swap. how true, you couldn't hold a box for a minute. it certainly was a lot of fun. how are those precious babes? i did a little planting today because i didn't go to work. i had a minor fender bender this morning. crashed the left front quarter panel and headlight. freak accident, can't even figure out what happened. no one hurt, thank God. the passenger in the other car was so miserable, screaming and hollaring at me in what i believe was korean. get over it, it's an accident. i hope to have the contents of my box pretty well set come tomorrow. i want to have some "named" items and look forward to this swap. hope everyone has a great weekend. we are attending an arts in the park event tomorrow afternoon and a strawberry festival in the morning. after that, i'll be raring to go with my shovel!!!!!! shirley, what kind of pump do you use for the pond? i have a smaller pool pump that i would be happy to send to you. sue best of luck with the wedding. lots of work, but i'm sure it will be fantastic. | Hi everybody, I've been trying to keep up with the watering in the garden. It has been really warm and no rain lately. I'm sure most of you are in the same boat. Hate to see my water bill, lol. Beth, I envy you with the snow! Where exactly are you anyway? Alaska is starting to sound mighty nice right now, lol! Thanks to all of you for your well wishes on my daughter's wedding, and I'm glad I'm not alone with having to do most of the planning and legwork myself. It's a labor of love though and I wouldn't pass up the chance to do this for my one and only daughter! So I've been looking around in the garden and identified the named irises and daylilies that I will send in my box: For my 7 named TB irises, I'll send one each of For my 3 named dayliles, one of each This is fun already and we haven't even started!!! |

| I see...I thought if the box was stolen 3 times, but the person has to have it 3 times. I too liked box number 7. I wanted that big mama hosta to go next to my big daddy hosta :o) Is any one else getting bad thunderstorms? Our last few have had hail. Thank heavens there has not been alot of damage here. There was even report of an Amish guy that was struck by lightning out in the fields. |

| Ok Jen cannot take #7 back from Melissa..Melissa just took it from her. You can take someone else's box but not the one who JUST took it from you. Hope that makes sense. Melissa has now had box # 7 twice. You have to have a box 3 times in your possession to freeze that box. Jen you are up but the only box you cannot take at this time is # 7. Because it was just taken from you. Shirley |

| Hi Maryanne - Wish you had stayed in the swap. Carol actually did surprise boxes for us one time in the traveling daylilies group. We sent her a description of our box (colors, bows, dots or whatever) and she posted a picture of the boxes with our numbers on them. You did not know what you were getting when you chose the box. We did do a second round after we were told what we had in the boxes and there was alot of stealing then. Shirley |
