New: Incredible Edibles...Favorite Color July Swap

iheartroscoe

I didn't want to see the Incredible Edibles Round Robin go away, so I decided to host the swap for July (since June has already begun!). As suggested by booberry, the theme will be favorite colors. Everyone who joins will let their partner know what their favorite color is and their partner will try to send veggies that are those colors. I'll post the examples that booberry gave below:

If your partners favorite color is purple you can send purple: carrots, basil, tomatoes, peppers, purple gardening gloves, etc. If someone's favorite color was orange, you could send them pumpkins, tomatoes, melons, etc.

Post here if you would like to sign up. Sign ups will be until June 22nd and I will post partners June 26th. Everyone should mail their seeds to their partners by July 7th.

Thanks and I hope everyone has fun! :)

Nikki, in the past, we've just traded seeds. Our hostess suggested between 5-10 seed packets. I had also suggested gardening gloves (or something that's in the same price range that's easy to ship) in case someone has a difficult color.

I'd like to join. I really do hope I get partnered with someone who has Yellow as either their primary or their alternate color.

Seems I have an abundance of seeds that produce edibles in shades of Yellow. Yellow is my least fave color. So whenever I get Yellow edible seeds in the mail from big swaps or as bonuses, they tend to go unplanted!

I'm so glad everyone is picking colors! I have a brother-in-law whose favorite color is beige with his alternate being gray. BLECH! Those aren't colors. That's what snow is thats been plowed to the side of the road!

    So EXCITING!!!!!

Okay, my favorite color is BLACK but I know this is difficult. I can only think of a couple off the top of my head so Purple is close enough and will be fine. My alternate is YELLOW which should be easy.

Hooray, so very nice to see so many people with yellow as an option! My unwanted yellow seeds will get a good home.
    Splendid. :)

Truly, the key to my patio-gardening happiness is not really about colors so much. It is entirely about not trying to squeeze the large, or vining, crops (beans, peas, squash, corn, cukes, melons, yams, indeterminate tomatoes) into my itty bitty space).

And I already have oodles of herb seeds!! So I'll be very happy with whatever, as long as it is a veggie (not an herb or fruit) and fits my space. :)

My favorite color changes, but I've always disliked yellow and orange.

For this swap I'd like Magenta as primary, and White as my secondary.

Lately I am quite entranced with Magenta/ hot pink edibles. :)

I've seen this color in magenta spreen (orach), some types of swiss chard including "five color silverbeet", various radishes, and pink varieties of kale.

Here are some cool pics of magenta veggies:

Thanks for the invite! Count me in!
My favorite color would be the Black/Purple/Blue family. I just did not want to say "black" only because I know that true black is not easy for veggies, so I thought my favorite could include anything in those similar 3 colors. If that is a no go, I guess white would be another option, but not really a favorite.
Thanks again! This is So cool! Christy

    Pixie -
Just to let you know, my husband will be here to get the mail so no need to rush. Even if the seeds might get here before I leave to go out of town (I am not leaving unitl July 1) I sure won't plant anything right before leaving. My husband has no idea how much watering he is going to have to do while I am gone so I don't dare add more at this point. LOL
With a bit of luck, maybe we will finally get some rain here while I am gone so the plants don't require watering 2-3 times a day. I seem to get nothing else done during this hot, dry weather.

It rains all on the east side of Houston but not a drop at my house on the west side. (ok so I don't actually live in Houston but sheesh close enough for some rain to hit eh???)

Hello everyone, I have lost luvgardening2's address. Please send it to me. I would misplace my own hair if it wasn't attached! Weather here is hot and dry. We have slight rain spells in other areas that last for a couple of minutes and move on but none here on top of the mountain. I hope everyone is well and their gardens are thriving. Sonja

Hi all, I am back from New Mexico, it was awesome. Rained there every evening too! (not a drop hit the ground here at home though!) Days were in the 100's (dry heat though, loved it) and nights were in the 60's. It was just me and a great friend of mine, Kimmie. Her sister was there for a couple of days. Kimmie's GM has land there and a house in Logan, NM. (GM passed 2 yrs ago) No phone, no kids/hubbies, only tv were movies we wanted to watch. We spent time on the Ute Lake and just doing nothing all day long! Came home with a great tan and sumburned lips (forgot to take my lip balm). We plan on going back up there in August (just Kimmie, her mom, her daughter and me) then again in Sept. (Kimmie/her hubbie and me and Fox).

I go to the Neurosurgeon tomorrow so ya'll plz keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

While I was gone a wonderful package from Jeanne arrived. I was soo tickled when I got home. Jeanne sent me these wonderful seeds..
Radish "Pink Beauty" (I have never grown radish's before!)
    Pink Malva
Pink Foxgloves (just love these, must be the name eh?)
Red Fig Tomatoes (cant wait for these, I am a tomato freak!)
Red Bull's Blood Beets (never grown beets before but I love beets!!!)
Red Popper Peppers (mmmm say the guys!)
Jeanne also sent some Pink Gardening gloves that I have already used pulling weeds from my new south bed. The weeds seemed to take over while I was gone. Fox did the watering for me but he just didn't water like I do so I pretty much lost my veggie garden. A couple: ... squash plants, eggplant plants, pepper plants, tomatoes, cukes, and my gourds survived.

I also have a pair of cardinals nesting in amongest my gourds on my gourd frame. They took advantage of me being gone also I guess but there is no way I will make them move as Cardinals are my FAV birds!

Jeanne thank you for the wonderful seeds you sent. I won't be planting anything until the drought is broken here but I do plan to have a great Fall garden and these seeds are going to be in it! Thank you soo much.

My package to you will go out this week. The trip to NM was a spur of the minute thing so I didn't have time to think right before I left.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend!

    Smugs,
    Pixie
