| LINK To Check Request Status:
CLICK HERE TO check your Request Status -- make sure you are where you should be AND to check your request numbers... Tammy:-) And now the original rules... Crazy Crazy Plant Swap!
*********************************************** Alright I guess 'suggestions' would be in order: 1. First thing - Sign Up 2. List some of your plants for selection by others
Example: I may be planning on sending in 100 plants but only want to make 20 available for selecting that would be fine. (Of course if you want to post all that is perfectly fine) I will be keeping track of requests and toward the end will have you review them. 3. Label all plants with the Plant Name, Your name, and who they are to go to (if you are letting other select them). 4. You will recieve the number of plants you send in (That actually make it to me alive, so please be sure to pack your plants correctly -see #5). Please send plants in good health that you would not mind recieving in return. I would also request that you send in 'clumps' of smaller plants instead of just one little one so that each person will have a nice start of whatever it is. ***** IMPORTANT NOTE: If you request 50 plants then you will need to be sure to send in 50 plants so that someone is not receiving less than they send in. Each person will be back what you send in. 5. Be sure to pack your plants correctly. Please Do not Overwater. This will cause your plants to rot. The correct moisture level for shipping plants should be barely moist, if you can feel the water it is too much. (unless of course it is a water plant) LOL 6. Cuttings will be allowed but please be sure to list those online for others to select the ones they want, some people may not want cuttings so it is best to let those be selected, and you must label them according to #3. Please be sure to send 3-5 cutting for each request so that the success rate will be better. 7. Be sure to include in your box the following (put it in a plastic baggy so it does not get messed up): - Return address label
8. All boxes must be postmarked between July 12 - 15. This will insure they all arrive in a close space and I can get the plants back to you in a timely manner. ********************** NO LIMIT to how many plants you send 10 of Each kind or less (unless you want to post them up for unlimited requests then you can send as many as are requested) SEND OUT: July 12-15 Have FUN! |
Follow-Up Postings:

| Fran, not to worry. lol I like to share, but if you happen to have an extra Blood Banana.... Lisa, if your plumbago is Cape Plumbago(lt. blue), I'll take it. If it's Ceratostigma plumbaginoides, I have tons already. Thanks. The green taro is in a pot in my stream. Just the bottom sits in water. They grow like crazy! I only have 2 dwarf Cavendish, but I can see if I can dig up some of my BIL's pups. If not, I'll hold your requests & send later. My banana, does make pups like crazy, just have to wait until they're a decent size. |

| Cindy, I would think not because those are extra we are HOPING to get. I don't think they are available we are just wishing we might can get them so really they are not ours so we can't count on them. HOWEVER, from what I understand and Tammy can explain this is IF we do have something extra sent in for us and we don't send in extras then we will not get them BECAUSE we are only getting back the totally number of plants we send in. RIGHT Tammy? Ok, I am headed to bed, I hope everyone has a great night. :) Fran |

| Theresa I was typing as you were posting. I DO have a small bady if you like I will put your name on it for you. It isn't that big but I took it off the mama plant the other day and have it in a pot on it's own so it IS really to go to a new home. It is about 5 inches or so, do you still want it? :) Fran |
|
| I'm deep in thought over here! OY! LOL Are you guys asking yourselves,"What did I get myself into?" This is my 1st RR Plant swap. That's what took me so long to sign up. I love all the action!LMAO Poor Tammy!!!!! Almost forgot to ask my question! If I request 5 plants from person #1 do I have to send person #1 5 plants or is it total # of requests = total # of plants? Fran, I would love the Baby nanner! Theresa |

|
| Theresa, I will take a pic tomorrow am and send to you -- it does NOT look like cape plumbago to me, but given to me by a neighbor so I don't hae a specific id. spreads and flowers in shade, so works for me. When are you packing your plants? Lisa |

|
| Theresa, You should have been around when we were all posting and requesting, it was crazy, 4-5 people were posting at the same time every time. It was so exciting!! Tammy can explain the rules better but basically, you can request what ever you want off of anyone's list. Then any one can request off your list. You just send in what people requested. Keep track and try to make sure that you're getting as many plants as people are requesting from you too. Anyway, I'll let the expert (Tammy) explain it better. Good to have some last minute action!!! :-) Amy |
|
| *IF THERE'S EXTRA, I WOULD LOVE TO ADD- Tammy- Goldfish Plant (indoors) Fran- Carmen Cindy Amy Norma |
|
| I just noticed, Purple Perilla is listed under Houseplants. Should be under Garden plants, if it makes a difference to anyone. Theresa |

| OK I am TOTALLY losing my freaking MIND...lol Tammy NEVER MIND ON THE ANTIOCK HOSTA, that isn't the one you want. YOU wanted the Golden Tiara which I DO have plenty of LOL..ok I got it. I have been sick ya'll that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! Really I have been, I feel a little better today. Better then I was but still not 100% but thank goodness I am getting there. Theresa, this is NOTHING, I just hosted a 100 Limit Plant Swap and there were no request on the post like what Tammy is doing. I had folks send in request and I filled them, THAT took forever LOL. And no, you do not have to request plants from the person who is requesting from you here. YOU can choose anything that is available from someone's list and you can ask for something even though it is not available in hopes that you receive it HOWEVER, there is NO GUARANTEE you WILL get something that is all taken. OK, so Theresa, I need to know do you want: From Theresa's list: OK, I think that is it for now. :) Fran |
|
| Fran, I'm sorry you were sick. Glad you're getting better, at least physically! Sounds like the mind is gone. Of course, I'm speaking from experience! LMAO Thank you for the explanation, I understand perfectly. I'll put you down for PG Hydrangea. I would love all that you mentioned: Blood Banana (yes, I see the confirmed on that) Tricyrtis Tojen (Toadlily) 'Kurpark Bad Salzschlirf' Brug Elephant Ears Illustris - aka colocasia antiquorum (one small baby) Theresa |

| Welcome, Theresa! Sorry you missed all the craziness. I missed a lot of it, too. Probably best, as I don't think I could have kept up with everything. May I have a Waterlily-Berit Strawn, please? Thanks! |
|
| Thanks,CA! I'll put you down for a waterlily. I just went out and checked the PG Hydrangeas for ground rooted limbs. There doesn't seem to be many roots as when we had all that rain. Cuttings are supposed to be easy enough though to root in a couple of weeks in potting soil/ perlite mix in shade. LMK if you don't want me to send them. If they don't make it, I could always root some on the mother plants for spring mailing. Theresa |

| OMGoshhhhhh.... What is going on without me...? I went to work one day and this is what I come home to... OK. Let see... Couple misconceptions... You can request the number of plants you offer (This does NOT have to be exact just keep it close - I see some of you switchin and cancelling other things that is not the intent. It was just a guideline so everyone will get about the same as sending. It don't have to be exact.). HOWEVER if someone sends you something as a surprise that will NOT count toward your number, because you did not know it was coming and I do not want to switch something that someone sends as a surprise for someone else so NO that does not count toward your number. (Sorry fran I did't realize you thought it did) I only asked about the two that were short so I would be sure they were getting some more plants than what they had request since they were being slow-pokes. LOL. And Zinaray is sending a bunch extras she has requested I just as fillers for the ones that are short on plants. So everyone should be fine... Don't worry so much. This is suppost to be fun... FUN Second - You can request anything from anybody. It does not have to be # for # per person. That is what makes the swap so much fun there is a larger varity of what we can choose from. Third - (Which should have been First) - WELCOME Theresa (even if its late and now I have sooo much more work to do) LOL And if any of these are still available I would love some: Butterfly Bush- asst. OK. I will try and have the final list completed tonight and give everyone a chance to select from Teresa we will extend the request to tommorrow until 7PM after that I will be making the final lists so everyone can prep the plants this weekend off the list. Be back in just a tad... I have to run out and grab so chinese. (Didn't feel like cooking tonight) Tammy:-) |

| Theresa -your photos are awesome! BTW - If you happen to notice any clematis seedlings I would LOVE one of your josephines. Clematis are one of my favorite flowers and I don't have that one. Its a beauty. My fish just had babies this spring. I just noticed them about two weeks ago. BOY was I excited! I couldn't believe it. Still really excited everytime I get a glimpse of one of them. BTW - The site is UP to DATE... Please confirm... Tammy |

That one is awesome! And its a lot of fun doing the swaps. Alot of work but I enjoy hosting the swaps and watching everyone get so excited over the plants they recieve. I started eyeball plant from seed but it never took off. Yours did awesome whats your secret there? Tammy |

| Tammy, My eyeball plant pic was from last yr. WSed this yr. & they're still tiny. Don't know why. My clems are 2nd yr. No blooms except on Ville De Lyon. Hopefully they're making good root systems. I'll keep you in mind. My fishies must eat all the babies! I haven't seen any in a couple of yrs. It used to really bother me that they got eaten, but now I don't even see any. They are so cute when they're teeny tiny, all eyeballs!LOL Theresa |

| Theresa, I would love to try some of the butterfly bushes BUT I am afraid I would kill them LOL. I love them I really do. Tammy, yes, I know that is why we trade right? WHO could buy all the plants we trade for? I sure couldn't. I love hosting swaps too, they are so much fun and to see who sends what and who gets this and that is too much fun. Hmmm, I think I need to go raid the kitchen...I want something to eat, I just don't know WHAT that is yet!!! :) Fran |
|
| Wow! Tammy, I didn't understand about the "surprises" either. Should we send extras of things we have that people have requested from others in case it is a variant,or things that we think would fit their site, or things that we have extras of that we didn't post? Or a cutting that we would just like to share because it is a great shrub (even though we know some people hate cuttings)? Or maybe we don't know how to identify it? For example, we have lots of sprouts of grape hydrangea which looks great by our pond, but we've only had 50% chance of moving it....so I wouldn't want to offer it as a trade....but, as a freebie? Sure. I'm beginning to think I should have said, just send me one of each! Especially when so many sign up for Cindy's canna, which I never even thought about, much less twice! (and Cindy, don't forget my purple smoke bush,Please). Tammy, you are awesome...but don't forget my Thai basil. Thanks and good night. Lisa
|
|
| MMMMM, Chinese! They put that MSG in there to make it addictive!LOL FRAN,I'LL SEND YOU SOME BIG SEEDLINGS of BB. I have "TONS" of VOLUNTEERS every year. I hate to throw them out. Hopefully, if I send you enough plants one or two will survive.LOL Theresa |

| I am sorry I didn't explain the 'extra' better. You can send extras to people as surprises. They can be things you didn't offer for any reason but think someone may like. I know I love surprises they can be small or seeds or cuttings or anything you feel someone on the swap may like. Just remember if you want it to go to a certain person be sure to put their name on it. It no name it will go randomally to whoever. I know I have a ton one plant that is very pretty but they are small so I didn't offer them but am planning on sending a bunch to each person as a surprise. That is what I meant by surprise or extras... Tammy |

| Hi everyone! Theresa - I don't know what I was doing yesterday. LOL soooo I just corrected all yours. Please make sure I have them correct now. GUESS WHAT.... I harvested my first ever Potatoes today and we had some for dinner. made them with loooots of garlic and onions with some olive oil roasted and they were sooo good. I will be planting a lot more potatoes next year! Alright everyone does anyone have any of these they may be able to share. I have triied them from seed and am not having luck :-( LOOKING FOR: Tammy Here. Oh yeah everyone my fish had babies this spring and I am so excited! They were all black but I noticed today that two of them have changed colors. One is orange with a white streak down the side and the other is orange with a black spot on its head. I had babies two years ago but got the bright idea to clean the pond too good and they all died. Everything. Moms, dads, babies, you talking about crying I did. Hubby thought I was nuts but I was sooo excited and it broke my heart that I kilt them all. So this time. NO Cleaning. They like it a little pondly in there. LOL |
|
| Tammy, that's great about the potatoes! Nothing like fresh veggies! Goldfish are always born dark to make it easier to hide from predators, mainly other fish, and then continually change color over their lifetime.Sometimes I've sworn some have disappeared overnight, but their markings have changed or solid colored ones got markings. Now I have one that has been orange for 2-3yrs. now he is getting black along his fins! Weird! I hope others come along and claim some of my plant offers. I feel bad joining so late. Theresa |

| Tammy, I can't grow feverfew from seeds EITHER! I have tried, everyone has said they are EASY but I can't do it! I didn't get the Painted Daisy to live either... Not tried the others, how are you trying to start them? In dirt and keeping the dirt moist? I do mine in the baggy method and I have had a whole lot of success doing this. I lucked up and got a feverfew plant in a pot a friend of mine brought me with a plant in it. She came back up here and said OH, THAT is feverfew, I said your kidding she said NOPE, I said WOW, I have been trying to get that to grow for YEARS, she said REALLY? It is EASY from seeds, I said YEP EVERYONE keeps telling me THAT, BUT I can't grow it from seeds, she said WELL NOW you have a plant LOL. Yes, I was excited over my fish too, then we killed them all, I cried too. I totally understand, as a matter of fact I think you read that on my original about me page didn't you? |

| Variegated KMOTGG LOVE THIS... WSing is ok but I like doing the baggy method too. My WSown failed really badly this year, my stuff STILL hasn't grown well from that, BUT I also know what I did and will NEVER make that mistake again. :) Fran |

| Beautiful pictures!! Uh oh, is it too late to request... Tradescantia Tricolor if there's any left? Amy |

| Is that a Mickey Mouse Taro in that green taro pic? Is that also Purple Emperor Sedum I spy too? I REALLY like the Variegated KMOTGG, did u start it from seeds? I have some seeds but haven't ever tried to grow them, so if you did how difficult or easy are they? Night all, |
|
| Fran, you have a good eye! Yes, that is MM Taro & Purple Emperor Sedum. The VKMOTGG was started from seed last year, but reseeded this year all by itself. It wasn't to hard to grow from seed. Amy, I was hoping to get more requests! I will certainly put you down for: Theresa |

| April - I LOVE Yard sales me and my mother usually hit a bunch every saturday morning but this morning I had to forego as I have a ton of stuff that just has to get done today around the yard. (you know with all this stuff gettting ready to come in I have to get it done) Fran - I did know about your fish. I thought you would sympatheyes (see we are just alike) But at least I am not kiling them this time and I have learned a valuable lesson. (knock on wood - don't want to learn no more lessons the hard way!) Threasa - I would LOVE a Lot of your plants but I can't grow them until mikey gets older because of toxic levels. (He puts everything in his mouth!) errrrr. I do grow things that are poisonous but try not grow anything that is deadly in small amounts until the kids are older and know better. That will be one purk of the kids growing up. I LOVE your brugs and am sooo jealous. I sooo can't wait to grow them they are absolutely beautiful! Add me to your: I learned something new yesterday... Did you all know that the sweet potato leafs are edible??? I thought they were part of the potato family (deadly nightshade) but I am guessing not based on an article I read. I was surprised! Has anyone here ever heard this before or tried them in salad or any recipes??? Anyone have those ones I am looking for?? LOOKING FOR: OH and yes you can still make requests But signup is over for new members I just don't think it would be fair this late in the game:-) Tammy |

| I've got everyone's requests. I feel like I should start getting stuff together now. What are some things you guys are doing to get ready. Do you clean all the soil off of rooted plants or leave it? Theresa |
|
- Posted by ncgardengirl 7b 8a NC (My Page) on Sat, Jul 11, 09 at 18:28
| Theresa, it REALLY depends on the plant. A hardy plant go usually stand being bareroot BUT some of the more touchy plants will not. I like to put some peat on the roots and wrap them in newspaper, then moisten just a tad, MOISTEN not soak then put that in a plastic baggy. THAT way the roots can stay moist and not dry out. I would think the annuals will need some soil on them because if not they can wilt to the point of no return. I had some from the other plant swaps that didn't make it. Specking of, Tammy did ANY of your grasses make it in that swap? I had none to. I am so diappointed with those. :) Fran |
|
- Posted by greenthumbgrow 7 - MD (My Page) on Sat, Jul 11, 09 at 20:15
| No the grass didn't make it and my echinacea didn't make it (I was sooo sad on that one) but everything else is doing wonderfully. I had 6-8 out of about 70 in plant ICU and I think there were about 4 that didn't make it so that is a pretty good rate I feel. I am sooo excited to see my gardens in another year or two now that I am finishing my back yard. We have only been in our home about 5 years and the inside was the first two years front yard the next two and now finally the back yard. I am sooo excited to get it to the vision in my head (if that ever happens) Right now I have Large beds with little plants (but most of the plants will get alot larger so I am trying to fill in with annuals this year and maybe next. I just started the long bed in the back that will go around the fire pit and the one on the side of my garden. One of them is going to become my iris bed from the iris swap I am getting back next week. I know I am in the chatty mood. LOL Ok i will quit for a while and 'chat' later. Tammy:-) MAIL DATE: July 12-15 (Was NOT changed) Well I guess the 13-15 (because the 12th is sunday and PO is closed) I would like to have the packages mailed out back to you on Friday. |

| One last change for me - can you please take me off of Lisa's Geranium maculata? My parents arrived today and brought a whole bucketload, so I don't think I'll need any more! I think someone else had requested some (Theresa, maybe?) anyway. Oh, and Tammy, would you be willing to hold onto my plants for a few days? I hadn't considered the return mail date when I signed up, and I'll be out of town until Wed of the following week - so if you can hold my return box until Mon or Tues (prob Tues, since it doesn't have far to travel) it will save it from sitting in the sun for days. Please let me know, sorry to be such a pain. Thanks! |

| Hi everyone! Oh Gosh, you guys are going to die when I tell you this but...I mailed my box today!!! I thought that today was the 12th, shoot!! I hope that you're not mad at me for mailing early!! But we're going out of town this week and I was so focused on getting the box packed early and getting my bags backed for the trip that I was a little too fast I guess. DC # is 03090330000061753309. Should reach Tammy's on Monday. Tammy, I wrapped each persons plants in a separate bundle and labeled it. I also included a list of what I sent for each person. I double and triple and quadruple checked it so I hope that you find it's correct. I sent a few extras for some. I hope that everything will be ok on their long voyage! I can't wait to get my box!!! I will be out of town too but I think we'll be back on Monday so it should be ok if you send mine on Friday. I will let you know though if I need you to hold it. Anyway, hope you're all having a good weekend so far! Amy |

| I have been packing BUT the way I do it is different then others so mine don't count LOL. I am trying to make sure sure the plants survive esp the touchy ones. I haven't started doing the phlox yet, I have to cut it back and I want to wait on that one. I do need to get all of what I offered put in one spot so I don't miss any LOL, gosh that would be embarrassing BUT you all should know by now, IF someone would do that it WOULD BE ME!!! I am such a scatterbrain LOL. The trumpet vines are pouting REALLY bad BUT they are still alive so I just want AMY and TAMMY to know this. BUT they are NOT dead, the stem is still green I checked this morning. I am almost positive they will lose their tops though, some of the ones I transplanted here did. They will come back out though, just LOTS of water or that is what I did lol. Gosh, this is so exciting, Tammy you have some work ahead of you. BUT at least the way you have done this one isn't as bad as the one I did. It got complicated trying to figure out what someone might want LOL. :) Fran |

LOL April - I have started getting mine ready with tags so all I have to do is pull up and wrap with baggies. I will probably do this the day before I plan on sorting so that they are fresher. |
| Wow, April that is a great savings!! Thanks Fran!!! So, how did you get the price from UPS? Did you pack up the box and take it there to be weighed? Did you just use a box that you had around the house? Tell us the details! :-) $12 is even cheaper than a large flat rate box. Wow! Amy |
|
| I find alot of times the Flat rate boxes are more expensive than mailing by weight. You can turn a flat rate box inside out and use the inside without the print & just mail priority. You can probably get an idea of weight with a reg. scale, because of all the plants we're swapping. I thought I read in another RR swap, if you purchase your postage online, you get a 10% discount, but I can't be sure. Let me see if I can find it. Here is the link to UPS rates. Tammy is in zone 1. |
Here is a link that might be useful: UPS rates
|
| Here's what another hostess says: " If you print offline confirmation is free plus you get a 10% discount off regular rates. But they may not scan until package is delivered.." I'm gonna see if I can do this.I have a postage scale too. |

| Just a thought...if anyone would like to try kitchen composting with redworms (esenia fetida), I would be happy to pack a couple of dozen in a ziplock with shredded newspaper bedding for you. Just let me know by Wed. when I do the final box to take up to Tammy's. Looking forward to trying all these new plants! Lisa |
|
| Wow!! Where do you get a postage scale? I have heard about the discount of printing the postage online, I'll have to try that! April, "...weighed it on the bathroom scale..." LOL!!! That's awesome! Yes April, please let us know the amount. I am all about penny pinching!!! Thanks, you ladies are so smart!!! Amy |

| Lisa I would LOVE to get some worms, I was wanting to start but good grief ordering those things are expensive. OK Folks here is the information I had for the Wet My Feet Swap Tammy did a few months ago: It was a LARGE box and it was HEAVY I sent a box in my 100 Limit Plant Swap that weighed 15 lbs it cost 14.16 to ship with UPS and it was going to be like 27.08 with USPS..... I can't find the actual numbers on it BUT it was really heavy and a large box. OK well, I came to check the plants I have listed one more time and to make sure I have them all down and for whom they are going to, so I will get back to that now... :) Fran |
|
| Amy, I live in a suburb and basically compost leaves outside, but not much else because people periodically have problems with rats! Not us, so far, although there are plenty of mice and voles to feed the red fox that resides somewhere in the neighborhood. Kitchen composting uses a particular kind of red worm in a shallow covered box in the kitchen to munch through all your vegetable peelings -- we have successfully cut down our non-recyclable garbage to one not quite full barrel every two to three weeks. You can skip all the fancy worm bins and towers and just keep the worms in a shallow plastic lidded box -- I started with one of the fresh lettuce boxes from the grocer. Our extension people don't even punch holes in them, just open the lid, toss in the veg stuff, make sure the peelings are covered with newspaper, and close the lid again. A little air goes a long way for a worm. Check out this link: I am going to be off email until late Tuesday, but just post if you want worms ladies! My first came from freecycle and I'd love to pass some forward. Lisa |
|
| WOW!! WOW!! I am excited to try the worms. Lisa, please send me some. Could you post pictures of your box? My husband is going to send me to the looney bin soon!! LOL! Fran, thank you so much for the info on the shipping! I will definitely look into that from now on. Need to look into getting a shipping scale I think. Amy |
|
| Amy, LOL! I'll be goin' with you to the looney bin! Lisa, I would love to try some worms. Thanks! Fran, do you have UPS pick up @ your house or do you drop it off? Theresa |

| Theresa you can schedule a pickup with UPS if you done online postage with them. For me their shipping terminal isn't much further away then the USPS office in my little town so I just go to UPS. I have been amazed their prices for 10lbs or more are more reasonable then USPS. I think less then 10lbs might not be I am not really sure, I just know that I have done a couple of large swaps this year and I am glad I checked them again. Lisa I am so greatful you are willing to pass along some of your critters to us! OK, off to pack more plants I hope to get it shipped today. |

| Tammy if I send my box UPS then how will I know what to send for postage. (I'm such a newbie) can I get postage the same way with UPS? |
|
| Sorry, my last link above was supposed to be USPS. I calculated postage on both websites. For a 13lb. package from PA to MD. Priority Mail -USPS- $11.50 Ground-(1 Day for me)-UPS- $11.65 Pretty close in price. You can find a UPS location from link below. Most Staples stores have a UPS. |
Here is a link that might be useful: UPS

| Amy - I got your box today. I opened it and put it in the air conditioner :-) The plants look to be in GREAT shape. gardencraze - Wednesday is the 15th so that would be fine. WORMS - Yeah! I have been wanting to do a worm bin FOREVER I am sooo excited. I did tons of research and everything. But just couldn't bring myself to pay what they wanted for those little critters. I am soooo glad you offered them up. I am so excited... wait I alredy said that. LOL EVERYONE - Be sure all boxes are postmarked before the 15th. Don't forget. I will be shipping boxes back out that weekend if everything works as planned. I would like to get them back out asap so the plants have a really quick turnaround and back in the ground. ALSO be sure to write on your boxes: Keep out of Direct Sun. (Tip from Amy - She did this and her plants looked the best I have seen in shipping) I got my Iris swap back today and it was AWESOME! I have soo many great irises now! I just added three new flowerbeds in the back yard today... boy am I sore... but now I can add a whole bed full of irises and the other bed is going to be filled with everything from this swap. The third is just because I know I will need it before the end of the season. LOL. DH said I am getting close to the end of my flowerbeds. He said he was going to start restricting me on the beds. HHHAAA what does he know! I will just sneak them in while he's at work. LOL (kinda like I did today) He told me yesterday I didn't need anymore plant! can you believe it. My beds aren't even full! I told him that he don't need louder pipes on his bike but I mind my own business and he better do the same! (all said in friendlly love of course) But I think he knows I was serious. He should know better than to even think about saying I have too many plants.... How can you have too many.... Lisa - sending you an email in a minute. Tammy:-) |
|
| Tammy, so glad to hear that everything arrived in good shape. I strategically packed them in there really tight so nothing would move, but I was worried that some might get crushed. Wow, with all of these huge boxes going out UPS, I feel like I may not have sent enough postage for mine. I sent enough for a large flat rate USPS box with a DC#. Tammy, please let me know if I need to send you more $$. Happy packing everyone!! Now I need to go pack my suitcase...LOL! Good night, |

But I think it should cover it.... knock on wood. LOL. I always check which way is cheapest for each package so that will help. You did a great job packing everything was tiptop shape. | Ladies, I have Fran, Amy, Theresa and Tammy down for worms for kitchen composting . Think of this as a "surprise" that you know about in advance with no obligation on your part. I would hate to send you a surprise that turned your stomach :(. I am totally committed to kitchen composting, both to get rid of vegetal trash without pest problems and to get a documented phenomenal fertilizer. I move some worms outside every summer in a closed container where they reproduce prolifically....although I still don't have enough worms in the kitchen to take care of a primarily vegetarian household. If you've read the material and are worried about how to fish the worms out of the compost without holding your nose and getting your fingers dirty If you want some to get started with a small "test" quantity, this is your chance! Lisa |

| OK, I have to get this in before we run out of space again. While you're waiting for your box. if you like gardens, romance, and magic, READ "Garden Spells" by Sarah Addison Allen. Have a good week/end. Lisa |

| Lisa, isn't it funny how people think compost will stink? I had a compost pile last year outside, it was great. I can't wait to get this started, again I appreciate you offering to share, I heard the multiply pretty rapidly. Your gonna have to share some tips and maybe pics to let us know HOW to know when it looks done, I know what outside compost looks like when it's done BUT this is something very different from that, yeap, I am asking you to take pics of your worms lol. How's that for creepy crawly? Actually, I am asking for pics of your finished compost! hehe, I need a visual. |
|
| My box is going first thing this morning. Boy,girls, do I need some of your tips for doing these swaps. It took me so long to pack everything up. I can't even imagine having a couple swaps going at the same time! Can't wait to get our boxes back! Lisa, thanks for the worms! I just visited the websites. Great info. Theresa |
|
| I mailed the goodies. Confirmation # is 03071790000124016737. I had to mail $13.10 in stamps. PO can't print pre-paid postage. OY! April had the right idea mailing cash. Theresa |
|
| FYI, there is a kiosk at my PO that you can use instead of going to the counter. That's what I used to print my postage that I sent to Tammy (which also included the price of the DC #). Not sure if all POs have this or not, but just thought I'd let you know. I've also heard of printing postage online (which I haven't tried). |

| You're only suppose to use the print postage for the day it is being mailed. If you print postage for the box you are sending and then print postage for the same amount to include for your return the PO can and probably will refuse it. I had someone send me preprinted postage sticker dated for the day they purchased it and I asked the Postmaster if I could use the stamp to send it package back, they told me no and the reason is: if you purchase the postage preprinted their way of thinking is that it is THEN used because it is supposed to only be good the day of purchase. It is best to send stamps in the amount you need, the have all different ones: 3.95, 4.95, up to I THINK they told me 16.95. OR you could just get 1.00 ones then add the smaller amounts to get the total you need. Tammy, Carmen, Amy....I am sorry but I am such a ditzoid. You know how when you tell yourself NOT to forget something over and over and over, and THEN you usually forget anyway? OK, don't hurt me, I really do try so hard sometimes. :/ Fran |

| OMgosh.... I was a little surprised not one box showed up today... What is up with the PO. I guess I will get a boat load tomorrow. Tammy:-) |
|
| Uh oh... well I hope that the postage I purchased is usable. There wasn't any type of message on the kiosk about only being able to use the postage on the day your purchase it. That would be a very stupid rule, to me the printed postage sticker should work just like any stamp that you buy. As long as it's enough to cover the price shipping the item it's attached to, then why would they care when I purchased it?? Tammy, is there a date on the sticker I sent you? If for some reason you can't use the printed postage sticker I sent you, please mail it back to me and I will go to my PO and fight for my $$ back!!! Amy |

| Amy, it is printed with a date. THAT is the problem and NO they do not tell you that. THEY think we are supposed to KNOW it! It stinks! If you and Tammy will email me I will tell you how she can use it. I will not post it here. HEY Tammy, I just checked and it says mine was delivered TODAY WOOOHOO, so was April's WOOHOOO that's 2 lol. I guess you KNOW what is your hostess gift this time. I didn't write a message on it because I figured you've done this enough to know that IS FOR YOU hehe... PLEASE tell me the plants look ok, I am not sure how well they looked after that packing thing. hehe. Go ahead and take your Trumpet Vines out. They were water logged, for some reason. I THINK it rained on them where I had them sitting on the porch. I went ahead and sent them though because I don't think it hurt them. OK, I am headed for a nap I think hope I get over this junk soon! Later ya'll, |
|
| Fran, feel better soon! Yup, the postmaster told me the same thing about the label only being good for that date. Tammy, do you have a truck to return all these boxes? lol Theresa |
