Hi ladies - Even though I am in the "naughty chair", I thought I would come and say hello. Been awhile since I've posted. Spend most of the past two weeks in bed, yuck!

Today is quite nice here. It's warm, but the breeze is pretty nice. Hubby has been out weeding my Iris Bed. Poor things had disappeared. The weeds sure thrive on heat don't they!!!!
He weeded my Daylily Bed a few days back when it was still really hot. Gotta love'em!
Well, gonna scoot and figure out what to fix for supper when the kids get home from Bible School. We need a bus! LoL
Taxi-ing (sp?) neighorhood kids from all over besides our 3, in an Escort no less......... I know, and I can hear you laughing ;-)

Maryanne will be here tomorrow! I will be working all day. My husband is all worried about food over at the cottage. I told him I gave her directions to the store and the phone number to our house. But he actually went to the store and bought food and brought it over there tonight, like Maryanne and her niece are going to starve, lol! But it is very sweet of him. I'll be giving them the tour on Monday, and coming back to the house. It will be fun.

I'm getting operated on Mon. Aug. 21st, so as long as it gets here before then, I'll be fine. Or if you are still in an awful heat wave and can't send by then, waiting 2 weeks after the 21st would be fine too : )
Maryanne got here today. She brought her niece on vacation here to see the Buffalo Lemonade, lol. Actually they are visiting Niagara Falls and doing all the fun tourist stuff. They are staying at my husband's family's cottage. Once I found out she decided to come here instead of Maine, I invited her to stay at the cottage instead of a hotel. I'm taking them on a tour tomorrow then they are on their own. I'm not sure how you missed all this Carol, your meds are to be take with water not tequila, lol.
I'm sure Maryanne brought her camera and will post some pics when she gets back home.

Hi All,
Well I met Maryanne and Jessie Today. They are both so nice! We had great day today. We spent a lot of it at the Niagara Falls Park area. There are lots of great places to get close to the Falls. We did the Cave of the Winds! All the time I've lived here and never done it. You go down at the base of the Falls on a wooden walkway. I though it was great, and they both loved it too!
Then we came back to my house and had dinner. Gary made Chicken Wings, local Salen's hot dogs and stuff to go with them so we didn't have to cook!
Maryanne made a wonderful dessert at the cottage last night! It was made with ladyfinger cakes, a creamy filling and strawberries! You all should of been here, lol.

Sorry I don't watch Big Brother. I tried to watch it when it first came out and it just didn't grab my attention. Is it different than it used to be?

Today I received a Hostess Gift from our Special Susie. Well, actually gifts (in the plural). She sent me a fan of 'Spacecoast Scrabble' and a fan of TB Iris 'Corn Harvest', neither of which I had. And a soap ball and some chocolate caramels, which I'm sure were good. The grands that are here visiting gobbled them up.

Hi all,
I sent my box out to Susie, so it should be there Sat. I also sent my hostess gift out to GrannyMarsh.
Maryanne and Jessie have been having a good time! Yesterday evening I met them at a famous bakery and we bought a bunch of goodies. Then we went to eat at one of my favorite Italian restaurants. Tomorrow evening after work, I'll see them to say goodbye because they'll be gone on Sat.
Today I went out to the farm area and went to a special luncheon with my Godmother at an apple farm. They had a guest speaker on antique seed catalogs. The speaker brought lots of old catalogs and other antique garden items which were very interesting.
Then I went to my brother's 21st birthday party. (He has a diferent mom that is why there is such an age difference.)
Oh and my best friend is in town from Oregon until next weekend. But I have to work all weekend. Then next week of course I have to take my grandmother out for her birthday on Tuesday because I'm getting operated on on her actual birthday. And my other day off is Saturday for a wedding. So all I can do is have a dinner with my girlfriend one night. Now after I get operated on, I have an open calendar for 3 weeks!

Oh no... poor susie. She told me about her recent problems with clotting and I was hoping she wouldn't have to go back to the hospital. She'll be in my prayers.

That's terrible about Susie being in the hospital again. It is a good sign that she felt good enough to call. I sure hope she gets well soon! She of course is in my thoughts and prayers.

Carol, my pill of choice is celebrex, not allowed alcohol anymore,dang it, have to have chocolate items instead, medicinal purposes ya know....also re: Big Brother, my husband and 19yr old daughter watch that show together. They also watch Survivor, Treasure hunters??and the Amazing Race. All I know is there is a lot of focus on these shows and generally Otis (dog) and I putz in the garden or read during them, however I have to say I like the Amazing Race, at least they travel.

hi everyone, just dropping in to give an update on sue.
she's home from the hospital. under doctor's orders to rest completely and of course, take her medication. they haven't completely cured her or for that matter definitely pin-point the problem and/or diagnosis, so let's keep the good thoughts and prayers coming her way!

remy, sue did get your box. her strength is a little poor right now to get things in the ground. what needs water, willbe watered, there are iris and bulbs and candy and a neat egg that she was trying to describe. she'll do her best to post tomorrow if she feels up to it. she wanted to acknowledge receipt, though.

unfortunately, this time around, her brother can't spend the time with her that she requires due to his own committments, but as long as she rests and does what the doctors require of her, she should be up and back at it soon.

The egg is a special painted wooden egg from the Broadway Market here. I remember telling you about the famous big market in the bad part of Buffalo. Anyway, the eggs are a northern European tradition. (I assume it is where Easter Eggs originally came from.)You give the eggs to people as gifts and different eggs are for different wishes or symbolisms like love, money, rememberance, etc. I sent one special to Susie for Good Health. It just didn't get there on time!

I did get all the iris potted tonight, so I happy about that. My husband even asked what he has to do after the operation for all the plants. It is very sweet of him, but very funny. I'm thinking don't you notice me dragging the hose around after work? lol. It is a very simple procedure.

Susie, I also for got to tell you Iris cristata is the right spelling. I think it is the only iris that likes a shady spot.
It is a dwarf size plant with pretty blue flowers. Though it likes shade it still needs good drainage like other iris. You did spell pulmonaria wrong, but I know you were trying to decipher my bad handwriting.
And all your bird babies is so exciting! They have to be so adorable.
