jennid, I emailed my address on the 11th. Please let me know if you didn't get it by now. Looking forward to hearing from you. Tracy, holy smokes you're giving me an inferiority complex here, lol. ;-) I have *one* whole type of daylily.... unless you count the lost-tagged ones I bought last fall from a local nursery on deep discount which I promptly severely divided and which did not bloom this year (is that normal?). I never paid attention to plants much before this year. If that *is* normal and they count, I can include some of those in the box, too - that'd be nice! Somebody please let me know about that? Thanks!

Hi Terri, I think Michelle has more experience with them than I do. This is the first year I divided them or paid any attention to them at all for that matter. We've been here 3 years and I have been working on the rock garden, then made a shade garden. Finally got around to salvaging and trying to identify the lilies and dl's. All have bloomed this year. I know that they won't bloom if they are not divided occasionally. I might ask that one on the dl forum, I really am clueless. Thanks for the nice comments!

Roflol I did not get your email. with your address. Please resent. I guess tomorrow is the big day. Can't wait . And also if you divide to soon They do not always bloom, or so I am told. I have the problem of not dividing soon enough. I to have neglected my garden at time. Now I have the empty nest sydrome so all I have to do is play with flowers.

Is it 3 different kinds, or 3 fans? I just received 5 fans of an unknown pink as extras, and I don't have room to plant more than a couple of them. If someone wouldn't mind getting 3 of the same kind, I'd love to join.

Sorry I have nothing better to offer - I've just started out this year. Hopefully next year I'll be able to do much better.

Just let me know if this would be okay or not. Thanks!

jennid, I've re-sent my address today (twice, removed the "re:" in the subject line the second time in case AOL's mail is purging it for that). Please let me know if it doesn't come through.

Hi Redsnowflake! 3 Fans is right. I don't mind 3 of one color, especially pink. I do love the pinks! Please join us, we would love to have you!

Jennid, It is craziness, but I am super social in the evenings on these forums! Can't help myself. Since I found GW with so many super gardeners to chat with I can't shut myself up. This place is way too much fun. I check in, type, go weed, come back, type, plant something, come back, type, clean a bathroom. Ridiculous! I am addicted to GW! This is what happens to people who have small children and find other adults to talk to online! LOL!

Here's hoping I didn't ship too soon heat-wise, but marea your delivery confirmation number is:

    0307 0020 0001 4938 1606

How soon do these things show up for online tracking? My receipt is timestamped 2:52pm central time and it's now 5:08pm central, but it's still not showing up. The clerk said it was entered in the system as soon as she printed up the ticket, but I realize it's not instantaneous. Just wondering.

    Thanks for arranging this, Jen!

Tracy - your daylilies went out today as well. I hated only being able to send three small fans of one kind, so I included some gladiolus bulbs also. I hope you like them!

Hi Amanda! Thanks so much for the extras! That was very sweet of you. I sent 2 of the pink bi-tones(Final Touch) and 2 large rooted clusters of the "Sammy Russell?". They are both mid summer bloomers.I hope that you like them. The pink bi-tone had been divided earlier this summer and have had a chance to sprout new fans. The other I divided as I was packaging so it is only showing the old growth.

Don't rush on my account, marea. My kids start school Thursday, and I wanted to be sure I had this taken care of before the chaos began... I tend to forget things on the back burner, sometimes literally. ;-) Yes, this is fun!

And taken care of it is, Terri! My box arrived already today!!
    I received:
    6 fans of 'Happy Returns'
2 nice fans with "Mystery Daylily" labels attached
Fortnight Lily seedlings & seeds as well as Lavender & Hosta seeds! All arrived in good shape ~ thank you so much!

Will post conf. # after my trip to the PO

(breathing a sigh of relief that they got there all right!)

Thanks for the update, Marea! I'm so glad they made it, and I hope they please you. The seeds were based on your exchange page wanteds list... wish I had the OBL hosta plant to send but I got those seeds from a trade and figured maybe you could get something resembling OBL to grow. :-)

One of the mystery DL's I discovered apparently *had* bloomed at some point, probably during our 2-week vacation, so at least I know it'll probably bloom for you next year! Hope it's a good 'un! Those HRs sure are puny compared to the ground-grown DLs, but incredibly there's a bloom at the edge of the container today, and I had pulled early-season stalks from the fans I sent you so don't let their size fool you... I sure do hope the swap turns out to be worth your while.

Just getting the box together made me happy. :-) I'm going to have to do this more often when I have more stuff to share!

Amanda, I am glad that you got them so quick and that they arrived in good shape. Way to go on the planting! I got yours yesterday too, thank you! I would have posted but we had a power outage last night! Again! One question, what are the glad bulbs colors? Thank you for trading with me.

Yowza!!! Got my box today, and I am truly doing a happy dance - thank you so much, Marea!

I got three mystery daylilies that I'll be excited to see what they come up to be, plus a fat clump of Purple D'Oros that will look great with my Happy Returns, and a nice batch of Autumn Red fans that have satisfied my lust for the reds. I am so very pleased! Thanks again, Marea.

Jennid, thanks again for getting this swap together, girlfriend! :-D

Tracy - glad you received yours. It's a good thing I planted the ones you sent Thursday, because I had my son Friday morning at 3:40 AM!!! :)))

Anyway - the gladiolus are supposed to be a mixture of pastels. I say supposed to be because I bought them at Wally World and never have figured out where to plant them. Hope you like them and the daylilies! :)

Thank you for all the kind words. Without further ado, presenting... Baby David:

    On his birthday:

    With proud papa:

    With even prouder big brother:

    At 4 days old:

I woke up Friday morning at about 1:55 AM to strong contractions that were about 3-4 minutes apart. I woke up DH at about 2:20 and we got our oldest up and headed out to the hospital (after quickly filling out a book order for my oldest that was due at his school Friday). Got there at 2:55 AM. I was already at 9cm dilated and 100% effaced. David was ready to make his debut. They got me in a room and he was born at 3:40 AM - about 5 minutes after my water broke - leaving me no time for an epidural. Ouch! LOL - but it was so much more than worth it. He's such a sweet angel - just like his big brother. I am so blessed!!! =D

Oh Amanda, He is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! He is such a sweet little baby. I'm gonna cry! Daddy and big brother look so happy with him. Wow. I love that picture of him with that teeny little smile on his lips. That was SOME delivery lady! My hat is off to you! I have had 5 babies and only one without the epideral. Ouchie is right! Congratulations to you and the whole family!

  • roflol

He's a handsome boy, Amanda, seems to run in the family - and big brother and dad look so proud! Of my four deliveries, one was with an epidural that wore off too soon, and all I could think of was "bowling ball". lol. Thanks for sharing the story and the pictures. :-)

Thank you Amanda - wonderful photos!! That 4 day old portrait of David is so incredible - invokes tears of joy. Seeing Daddy's smile, I see where he gets it... I'm so happy for all 4 of you!! Thanks for sharing!

Just popping in from the Traveling Daylilies thread to offer my congratulations to Amanda!

A little bird (by the name of Marea) mentioned something about beautiful, new baby photo's and I HAD to sneak over and see. ; ) David is just perfect! I must agree..that 4 day old pic is breathtaking! He looks alot like his proud papa. : )

Your "stork story" is just great! Amazing what Daylilies can do.

From one new mom to another...congratulations and best of luck with that precious little boy!

Ahhh Amanda, David is such a little darling. I just know your going to have your hands full taking care of him.

And to think your still finding time to garden and plant things. You must be one heck of a woman. I was in the bed a month before and a month after having my babies. Hugs and kisses all the way around to your family. Thanks for sending me the link. (grin) I would have never found it.

    Best Regards,

  • beth_b_kodiak

Brenda the thread you posted to is from about 10 years ago. Most of the folks who were in it are no longer active. I may try posting a swap for NOID daylilies later but most traders now are all about having names for their plants.

You need to change your settings so you can get messages direct. Hope someone can help you make that change.

Brenda I have a few I can dig, also have NOID Iris I dug last fall and stored in my basement over winter if you are interested in any of them too
