update: fotess yard sale part 3

sjc48

Well, this is the third time I've tried to start a new thread. Hope it works this time!

Jayeanne, that is a frit, but it's a Great Spangled Frit, smaller than Ruth's Gulf frit. Well, I'm pretty sure that's what it is! And the black one could be a Black Swallowtail, but I'm not certain, I still get the black swallowtails confused! Great captures and beautiful pics!

Got home a little early, not complaining, as soon as I eat and unwind, I'll post the update!

Loving the butterfly pics!

YAY!! It worked, Please use this thread for the Swap!
Shirley!

What a goof up on posting! I waited at least 3 minutes for those first two to show up as posted and they did, as soon as I posted the third one-AAAGGGHHH!

Katie and Ruth, your plants are on the way, PO Lady said they should all be there by Friday. Sure hope so! I have tracking if needed.

You are all doing a great job, getting your yard sale items out to their new owners. Still have lots of time too!

Thanks for sharing the Hummingbird moth, Vina, I've only had one come in this year. It was very tiny, I thought I was taking a pic of a bee!

Pink, good shot of the hummer. They are SO hard to get pics of. I've had lots this summer-still waiting on a good pic tho!

Peggy, my tracking number shows the irises were delivered to you several days ago. I sure hope you got them.
I just thought I would post because sometimes mail carriers leave packages in odd places.
So glad the plants were well hydrated when they left from South Carolina.

Jayeanne, Thanks for the seed. I can't to get them planted. Do you think it's to late to get them started this year? But there are multiples of each pack so I could try some. Thanks so much. I should have the best looking garden of all next year. The seed arrived just as I was leaving on Saturday, sorry I didn't post earlier.

ShirleyBG did you get your package?

Heidi, I will mail your package when I return from another weekend trip.

Welcome to the 2 new members.

    Erica,
Thank you for the tomato seeds. My husband 'carefully filed' them with some other mail and I found them today. They are labeled so well. Nicely done.
This year I grew ribbed bright yellow tomatoes. They look a lot like yellow bell peppers. They were labeled German Yoder, but they don't look like the pictures I see when I Google that. I'll have to take a picture and put it up for you.
    Thank you again!

Hi ladies. Today I received replacement seeds from Erica that the Post Office employees ate out of the first package. Also received the Butterfly Bundle box. Shirley, the plants look good! Also, I see the rue and the white borage. What is the third? I can't remember. It's no wonder; my brain is mush these days.

There are actually 2 different ones, LOL....Getting ready to plant that and when I looked it up online there is one of each and I dont remember you specifying which one it was...hope you can help me out =) thanks!!

Vina, thanks for the clarification! I have a hard time keeping the different types of iris straight. Bearded, Siberian, Louisiana, dwarfs, Japanese, Dutch, English, beardless, crested, etc. There's so many!

Evening, Everybody! Did you all have a nice Sunday? I spent some time, would you believe, clearing out some of the flower beds and containers. This has been a strange year for flowers, for me, my nasturciums and portulaca are just now starting to bloom. Some others are into their second bloom.

Heidi, I'm glad you posted a pic of those tomatoes, couldn't visualize them when you described them!! They do look like green peppers!

On with the Swap. Here's what we have left:
Sharon and Heidi are taking care of their problem.
    Ruth has sent to Sharon.
    Alana has sent to Shirley/BG.
Shirley/BG is sending to Alana (when the seeds are ripe?)
Let me know if this isn't right!

Haven't heard from Peggy, for a while, hopefully she has received from Ruth, Jeanne and Katie. Jeanne and I have both emailed her, we haven't heard anything yet. We still have a week left to mail out, so we'll give it until the 31st. I hope nothing is wrong.
Vina, I have you covered, no problems there!

This weekend went WAY too fast,
    Have a great Monday,

Cut a tree down yesterday that was leaning way too much for my comfort, in the yard. Hubby turned the trunk into a nice bench :) But, boy am I sore today! Moving tree limbs and logs...wow am I moving slow today, lol.

I got the tomato seeds in a trade and they were called German Yoder Amish Yellow (heirloom) tomatoes. So I was picking them when they were bright yellow. They didn't have much flavor. I missed one and picked it yesterday. It went from green to bright yellow to a pinkish peach and it had very good flavor. So now I am leaving them a little longer. They are good in salads, sliced, made some into chili. I really like their flavor--mild, but still a tomato from the garden taste, not the grocery store tomatoes! My tomato plants (not just this one, diff. varieties) put on tomatoes and then quit. I was sure I'd be up to my eyeballs in tomatoes by now, but I'm not. A few new blooms, but almost no young tomatoes.
I found 12 green beans last night! I planted green beans, pole beans, June 1 and the morning glories took over. I thought the beans just didn't produce. It might have been a lack of pollination since the blooms were taken over by the morning glories. I was thrilled to find a dozen beans! Oh, the crazy things we find.
Thought of you, Shirley! The neighbor's apple tree is loaded with great apples. They don't want them. Just let them fall to the ground. I put up a notice on Facebook for my town that anyone who wanted any could come and get some (bring your own ladder and wear boots). I can't stand wasted food, especially home grown apples in perfect shape!

Many thanks, Ruth, Katie and Alana, for posting!

Vina, great shot of the ETS! I always think it's a tad bit strange to see them nectaring on lilies, not a food source, but I see Monarchs on the turk's caps all the time; apparently they don't care what the books say!

Heidi, what are you going to do with the apples? Pies? Sauce? Cobblers? Or just eat them. I agree, don't waste them.
I never had luck with green beans, never even found 12!

Hot, muggy day here today. Supposed to get rain the rest of the week.

Update on what's left to do:
Sharon and Heidi are taking care of their problem.
Shirley/BG is sending to Alana (when the seeds are ripe?)
Katie will send to Peggy when it's good!
Peggy - Waiting to hear from her.

    Have a great day tomorrow!
    Shirley!

    Helloooo Everyone...

I have been off line but I am back to report that I (finally) mailed packages to Vina and Shirley, today. I have tracking numbers which I left in the car so I will post them later.. but per po they should be delivered next Wednesday.

I did receive the very cute bird house and cuttings... unfortunately the the cuttings sat at the po longer than they should have... which makes me sad...

I have been canning some crab apple jelly and butter, weeding the garden and keeping an eye out for hidden cucumbers. I hope to make some mustard pickles in the next day or so. Lots of plans but I need an assistant to help me through the multi tasks that are waiting for me to do. Hope everyone is basking in the final days of summer. I am looking forward to cooler days ahead. Regards... Peggy

Will be putting the books in my "read in winter" stash. Much too much to do this time of year, but, they look very interesting when I was thumbing through them.

    Have a great day!!

    Good Morning!
    Thanks for posting, Vina!
My Yard Sale items will probably be waiting for me when I get home tomorrow; I'm spending some time in Kettering with Tabs and Myrna!
Today is the last day of the swap and I think everything is under control.
Shirley/BG will be sending to Alana, and will let us know.
Katie is sending to Peggy and will let us know.
We'll keep the swap open so they can post, but other than those two, I think we are done!
I wanted to thank everyone for making this swap so great, and as I said before, if we hold a Yard Sale next year, there will be some changes made for the better!
I know Jeanne will be posting September's swap soon, and I hope to see lots of our members joining in!
Well, gotta get ready for the playground and splash pad!
    Talk to ya all soon!
    Shirley!

    Greetings All!
Just wanted to post that I received Peggy's Yard Sale Items today, it was certainly worth the wait! In addition to my Patio & Deck book, she sent me cupcake papers/flags, a cupcake recipe and a cupcake divider, didn't know they made things like that! Peggy also sent some fruit and veggie strips, some cucumber strips that she made (very tasty!) and a tiny little Australian cookbook!

Peggy, these made my day, especially since I spent it on the couch trying to get over some kind of gut bug! Cheered me right up, Thank You!

    Okay, back to the couch!

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well, Shirley. Hope the reading material keeps you occupied while you recover.

The fruit strips are made locally. The cuc chips were first attempt to come up with a healthy alternative to potato chips. I must say that potato chips will never disappear from my 'want' list...haha

Have too many projects on the list of things to do... dry some peaches, apples, more huckleberry jam, etc etc.. anyway Sept is cooling down which makes kitchen work cooler. It feels like fall... evening temps in the upper 40's... better get busy..

It came! Your plants were in great shape. I let them sit in water for a day and I planted them out on Sunday.
Thank you so much! I'm excited to see what happens.

    Evening, Ladies!

Sharon, Heidi and Katie, thanks for posting.
I think that all that is left is Peggy receiving, and Shirley/bg sending to Alana, altho I could be wrong about that.

Feeling a little better, but I think this is going to take some to time to clear up. Hopefully, I will never have to go on antibiotics again.

Katie, responded to your email, let me know if you didn't get it.

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the early autumn!

I got my daylily from Shirley (brittneysgran) last week, along with some seeds, which went into the fridge to prepare for sowing.
Thank you Shirley! You are a first class gal!
