Thanks for the B-day wishes, girls!

Yes, it has been pretty quiet here lately.
Lots going on outside, leaves starting to turn color and fall. Can the end of summer be real?

Still have a few more plants to add--have some red ivy geraniums I never used still sitting in their pots.
(I KNOW there was something else, but at 1:30 in the morning I'm finally starting to fade!)
Will post 'who's in so far' by tomorrow or Friday!

Please send any updates and pictures, folks!

Hi Everyone- I am new to the tropical forum & would love to share what I have as well as receive some new plants.. I have never participated in a Round Robin swap- can someone please tell me how it's done? I see others' lists- does one ship all they list, or is that just a sampling of what's available? I'm a brug addict- does anyone have brugs to offer as well? I would love to join in! I hope I'm not out of line here.... any info would be much appreciated!

    Hi Kasha77!

Everyone is welcome here! We swap tropicals, perennials, houseplants, everything really. Sort of an informal group.
Usually you just let your partner know what you really want from their list and they send you a box full!!!

    Theresa

Really depends on what sort of cuttings, I root 'woodies' (roses, shrubs, vines) at this time of year, in ziplocks or soda bottles half filled with potting soil. I usually bury these in the vegetable garden at the end of the season and then ignore them until spring, other than just check to see if they need water once in a while.

I am sure someone will chime in with more tips. There are amny different methods and everyone has a fave.

Gotta get back to work! Its raining, ho hum....

    Have a great day everyone

    Kasha, First off, Welcome!
Ann is our hostess, for this swap. She will pick one person to send stuff to you & you will have one person to send to, based on our haves & wants lists.See the first post for deadlines. Side trades are OK too. You could email someone to agree to a trade.
List your have list and your want list here ASAP.
    Hope this helps.
    BTW- I'll have a few brugs!!!LOL

    Hi friends,
I am sorry to say that I am going to have to pass on this swap. I'm bummed! It's just starting to get cooler here and I have a lot of stuff to do to get ready for winter. I thought that I'd be able to pull this off too, but it's just not going to work out. I'm so not ready for winter to be here!!! :-( My plants all look so wonderful right now and I just hate to have to bring them in. I envy you who live in warm climates!!! You don't even know. My back is killing me right now. I've been working on hauling in and washing plants all day...ugh, what a chore!!! Good thing I only have to do it once a year. But I'll be working on it more tomorrow and (hopefully) finishing up next weekend. Also have lots of harvesting to do...etc. you know how it is.

Have fun and I'll talk to you all later!

    Amy,
I totally understand how you feel. I felt like that when I posted that I was done for the year with plant swapping. I spent countless hours cleaning, repotting and carrying them in. ;) But, I'm ready to swap ONE more time before it turns too chilly.

Count me in! I've recouperated from repotting!

My last plant swap for the season, LOL!

My wants- african violets, streptocarpus, streptocarpella (any gessie). Any neat basket plant, bird's nest fern, small compact fern, variegated stuff.

No outdoor plants please. Things are starting to go dormant already, leaves changed on the trees already.

    What I have-
    Streptocarpus cuttings/segments all NAMED varieties
African violet leaves named varieties (I finally ordered some named av's yay!)

    Red hens and chick

    pregnant onion bulbs/plant starts

    Gorgeous silver/purple wandering jew cuttings
    Tiny wandering jew cuttings

    Optunia cactus pads/unrooted

    Jade cuttings
    baby jade cuttings (mini jade)

    Autumn joy sedum cuttings
Unknown sedum 'dusty pink' cuttings both root directly in soil.

    Variegated sedum cuttings

    Burrows tail cuttings

Cuttings from- hedge roses "Jackson & Perkins" light pink/dark pink (very spiny).

    Hugs,
    Deb

    :O Thanks Heather!
he (she) is a real cutie! I just love lizards and toads too (so much less intimidating than snakes) I know snakes are good...... but around here they are so darned BIG! and some of them are poisonous too!

    Deb
I am coveting your rose cuttings! I am hoping you will consider a side trade if we are not partnered! I have become a big rose fan lately.... I will consider any hardy rose cuttings. (GRRRRRR on the lady Banks, who told me this was easy to root? if anyone would like cuttings of the white LB, PLMK, I cannot root it, maybe you can)

I am really interested in heirloom rose cuttings, climbers, ramblers and shrubs.

Hey Amy! sorry you cannot play, do understand though. I am so busy lately I am sure Fall is going to hit me like a ton of bricks when it comes!

Here is the newly updated list, as of Monday morning:

    Kasha77 (Kathy?)
    Tina_2 (Tina?)
    Debbya (Deb)

Welcome to the new swappers, Tina and Kathy (did I get the names right?) and welcome back, Deb! A few people had to drop out due to Life getting in the way of gardening! We currently have an odd number of swappers, if I've listed everyone who wants to participate correctly. We do need one more person to make the swap work out, so if somebody knows someone who needs more plants and has extras to share (and who doesn't?) get them to sign up! I've posted about this swap on the Brug forum last week, (Kasha77, is that where you came from?)
I'd like to stick w/ the original date of having partners assigned by the 2nd of October, so as long as we have some kind of even number before then, all will be well!

Gettin' chilly here! Bringing in plants! Also changing light bulbs in shop light fixtures in my basement growing area! Gonna dip into upper 30's (UPPER 30's, mind you, but once you reach that point, it's almost over, you know?) overnight one night this week! I'm planning on bringing almost everything in over the next few days. How's everybody else doing where the weather is starting to change?

We had some severe storms last night that brought in Fall quickly, with in minutes! We dropped close to 30* brrr, it was close to 80*! Today it's high 50*, low 40*
I'm not ready for such a quick change! ;)

I've hosted swaps with an uneven number of people- this is how it would be set up...example only.

    Threas (Theresa) sends to
    restec (Nancy) sends to
    divaheather (Heather) sends to
    dimples31312 (Dorothy) sends to
    bigmama4ever (Norma) sends to

We've got some terrific lists and pictures! If you haven't yet posted a list, please do so now!

By the way, thanks, Deb for pointing out that we don't need an even number of people for the swap to work. I guess I was thinking about swapping with paired partners, but that isn't how this works!
    How's everyone doing? Ready?

    Morning, everyone!

I'm working on the list. Just realized that Kathy (Kasha77) has not yet sent a list--just emailed her to see if she's still interested. Anybody in contact with her? Gonna post partners asap!
Frost on the neighbor's roof this morning. Wait, was it summer already? I want a do-over!

    Hi Frances & Theresa,

Yep, glad to be home...grooming school was fun and now I'm working full time which doesn't leave as much spare time for gardening, but hey at least there's a paycheck involved, LOL. Did miss some blooms while gone but everything survived my absence well, including the weeds!!

I got to visit quite a few nurseries while staying near Dallas and found lots of summer plants on clearance (should have some to share come Spring!)

I sure did miss the swap, but glad to be back aboard!
You ladies have a great evening!

    Good morning!

Welcome, Chell! You just barely made it! Hooray!

Kathy (Kasha77) has decided not to join us this time.

I'm going to be posting partners this morning, and I'll start a new thread when I do. At this point, I'm ready to close the swap to any newcomers, unless they happen to show up in the next hour!
