Becki-Ask your DH's doctor to order a Pulmonary Function Test. This test will determine if he has COPD. The test is non-invasive and takes about 45 minutes. If he is wheezing they may give him a nebulizer treatment during the test. It's just Albuterol.

ok, its like a perculator sp on a coffee maker. that's what he sounds like. becki i pray he dont have it!! the other is bad enough. mariann, grant says that chronic bronchitus is like leading upto to it or a cousin to it or something like that. is that true? i don;t remember the right words. he freaks me out sometimes!!! i worry all the time anyhow. but then you add this to the mix!! my cause of death will be worry lines ran tooo deep!! LOL

ok, this is what we did, considering that he worked at 6:30 everymorning which meant he had to get up at 4:30 everymorning, ad at our house no one goes to bed before 11. i faked like i still wanted to go to topeka, got all dressed up, and got my little pocket book\planner thingi, and we left to "go to" topeka, then we got to the turning point, then i said where ya going babe? he's like topeka, i said, well honey i just wanta be with ya, so i figred we could go to casey in burlingame and get a pizza, he's like you'd do that, isaid, ya, ya been up early ALL week, and this weekend!! at 6 this weekend too. so ya. he thought for a bit, cuz as we all know, there's NO traffic in the small towns!! LOL so we ended up going to osage, 16 miles away versus 35 miles away ate at pizza hut, spent WAY too much, and remembered AGAIN why we NEVER eat there. LOL but he didn't care about the price. cuz we spent it alone, and together. and i think i get my bread maker!! LOL so all in all, a great night!! :')) hope everyone has a great sunday!!

Michele - yeah, we have the wheezing here too. It doesn't sound like it's as bad as grants, but he just often sounds like he's whistling when he's breathing, especially at night, but sometimes even just watching TV. I'm sure it is very scary seeing and hearing him go through that, after seeing his dad die that way. My very uneducated understanding of COPD is that it is a combination of chronic bronchitis and emphysema. I thought before it was a combination of 2 of the following - chronic brochitis, emphysema and asthma, but last I looked, asthma was no longer on that list (on WebMD, at least.) Anyway, about a year ago, the next doctor that Dave is to see said he had possible mild emphysema, mild asthma and brochitis (though I don't think he said chronic.) We went for a walk this morning, and he was constantly, especially on our big hill, having to stop and cough hard, and spit stuff out. Big green globs - icky!!! I made it 3 laps around (1.5 miles), but stopped, because me heel was hurting pretty bad (it didn't get better after my cortisone shot, I'm afriad.) He went another lap, so made it 2 miles. It's sad - we used to be able to go 6 laps without too much trouble - even 8 sometime. Actually, when we first met, he got me to start jogging, and I was actually jogging 4 miles a day, when we got married. Too bad I quit! But, that was all on flat ground, which is much easier than going up hills like we have to here! Okay, I TOTALLY got off the subject! Sorry! Anyway, I think we can kind of relate to eachother on our hubbys, Michele! : ) or : ( not sure of which!

Fishy - glad to see you! Good luck with all that!

Tracy - that would be great if Ed went with that, after you have wanted him too for so long. It is a good way to make a little money in those slow winter months. If you are willing to get out and shovel as well, they you can really clean up, but a lot of people aren't willing to do that.

Oh, and Michele, your celebration sounded very nice!

Mariann - I will ask him to ask for that test - he never wants me to come along to his appointments. I've gotten used to that now, but it used to really bother me. Anyway, I will be sure to tell him to ask for that.

thanks! becki, i think that maybe our men are trying to think they are protect us from worrying, cuz we are worriers? cuz grant does the same thing, although he'll tell me about his appts. but i think he filters the info. ya know. but when he uses the hundred dollar words i act like i don't know much, but i do. and if i don't i look it up. hmmm. nursing runs in the family, but i lost out. LOL
i do better at mother henning!! LOL

Michele - I can't see it very well, it's coming up as a tiny picture on my computer. But, it kind of looks like a petunia to me, but not totally. Sorry - I really don't know.

Yeah, I know what you mean about them trying to protect us from worrying them. He hates when I worry about him. He's always like, "You are not my mother." And I say, "No, but I'm your wife!" Oh, well. I know they are doing what they feel is best, and I have to respect that. Michele - how old is Grant? Mmm - a breadmaker. If you haven't already, if you aren't wanting to spend the money for a new one, there are lots of second hand ones at yard sales and thrift shops and stuff, around here at least. I got mine for $10 at a yard sale.

We just bought an electric bean pot on ebay and I'm using it for the first time today. Dave said his mom used to always have one sitting on their counter, with baked beans in it, and he would come home from school or work, and dish himself a big bowl of baked beans, every day. He was so excited to find this one that looks just like it! Now, I am just trying to perfect my baked beans from scratch. I have made them a couple of times in the crock pot, and they have always come out too dark tasting for me. I think they were icky. But, this recipe smells wonderful as it's cooking, so hopefully it will stay that way. We really like Bush's baked beans, so I'm trying to do something that tastes somewhat like their 'Original' flavor. Anyway, sadly, the lid doesn't fit quite right on this bean pot, but it seems to be working. Keeping my fingers crossed that they taste good this time! : )

It looks like a petunia to me. Yes, I am sooo brave! LOL! I just got finished leaf blowing out the flower beds. I wanted a leaf blower so bad! Finally got one and hate it! lol! It is heavy, and it vibrates like mad, and my arms are going to fall off. The kids had a ton of fun though. I helped them rake up a nice size pile of the leaves and they have been burying each other and having leaf fights. Somewhat like snowball fights but they don't pack as well. Ha ha.

Ed hasn't been sick other than the big scare we had when he had appendicitis. He got very ill after surgery because it had already ruptured. His pulse ox was down in the low 70's for days on end. They thought he might have a pulmonary embolism so they did ct's with contrast, x-rays, tons of bloodwork but could not find the cause of the low oxygen in his blood. I was there with all the doctors asking many questions, he just sat back and let me deal with them. I was pretty surprised. That is not normally like him.

I went with him to all of his follow up appointments to the surgeon and pulmonologist. He just sat back and let me deal with it. He doesn't ask a lot of questions in the doctors, seems to think of the questions after he is out of there, I think it is nice to have that second person to think of what you've forgotten to ask.

Medo, that was very sweet of you to have him take you to pizza hut! Such a nice wifey you are! I feel the same way about it. A nice night out alone with each other is really the best part of an anniversary. So nice just to be able to talk, laugh and be alone. ;o)

2 pots of cilantro (1 to share with a bud)
    mint
    32 onions
    36 sugar peas
    27 green beans
lettuce mix for baby salad greens

the bell peppers are fallin over with fruit again, so I'm gonna pick and chop those of fajatas this afternoon. Cleared out the old cuke vines, the kids wanna try carrots this year.

    whew,
strawberries are new to me, so we'll see how that goes.

LOL :')) i guess GOD figuered one thing at a time medo! LOL
    the scariest thing happend:
i was talking to grant on the phone while he was at work, and i hear screach, he say's i gotto go, click, ugh i hate that!! he calls me back half an hour later, someone got into an accident infront of him. a motorcycle and a car.but the bad part a little kid was hurt. so he had to call it in. fire, ambulance, cops. he was security for the school. so he couldn't do the thing. i was so scared it was him! MEN!! LOL so now i just pray that little one is ok.

Oh, Fishy - I hope the strawberries go well! I want to try them next year! It will sure make things cheaper for my jam making!! Have fun with all those veggies! I'm sure the kids love that!

Michele - I'm sure that was SO scary! You poor thing! I'm glad he's okay! I'm sure for that whole half hour you were on pins and needles! I probably would have gotten in my van and drove to where I thought he was - you did better than me! (Yeah, now you know why he doesn't want me to worry.) One night, he went walking, and it took FOREVER between one of his laps - like an hour. I started to think he must have had a heart attack or gotten hit by a car, so I got in my van and drove the route. I found he had stopped to talk to someone... I was like, way to worry me, hun! Anyway, I hope that little one is okay!

LOL i never understand people, i put a seat belt on befor i even leave the driveway, i make the kids especially, i just don't know why they don't htink about that, especially in a big town like that! ya know. and we live in a twon of maybe 6 blocks. LOL but still ya never know if someone elses breaks are gonna fail or what cuz they are counting on that small town thing, no one being on the road. i was geared to think that way, LOL i gotta find that gene and take it down a notch sometimes. medontdo-Chronic Bronchitis is one of a group of diseases called COPD.

Becki is correct Asthma, Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema are COPD's. Some categorize Asthma as both Obstructive and Restrictive Lung Diseases. Becki what's with the green sputum???? Sputum is suppose to be white or clear. He might have an infection brewing.

    Whew! What a weekend!!

    {{gwi:1302901}}

Ya'll have been BUSY! lol :O) Hope everyone has had a good weekend?? Same stuff, different day here! :O) Never quits, even for the weekend. Wish it would, I need a BREAK!

I had a PLANT THIEF this weekend!! Seriously, someone dug up one of my flower beds!! Can you imagine that?? I went to the store on Friday morning, and the flower beds were FINE when I left, then when I got back, the mulch & weed paper were ROLLED up, and the flower bed had been dug up!! Now...I KNOW the dog ain't that smart...b'c the mulch was piled PERFECTLY, none scattered ANYWHERE, and the paper was not even TORN or scratched. And I'm positive the cats aren't that talented, either...if they are, I need to get them on Letterman or something!
ANYWAY....I'm missing some daylilies!! I called my husband at work, to make sure he didn't do it (for some wierd reason!) but he had NO clue what I was talking about.
I had noticed a strange truck across the road on my neighbor's property before I left, and they noticed I was watching them, so they left. But on their way out, they drove REALLY slow past my house, and the lady inside was pointing ... I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but it was strange.

Oh, and have you ever reported a flower theft to the police?? They didn't even take me seriously!! UGH!
~~ I guess it IS pretty funny, though! I'm laughing now, but I"m still pretty ticked...laughing..ticked...laughing...ticked...
    SIGH
But you gotta laugh. What else can you do?? :O)

Alana- I hope that was OK with you? Since Klick is the only one yet to send her box, I felt it was OK to post.
I started it up because it is going to be fairly close, timewise, with Thanksgiving, and I wanted to be sure that everyone had enough time to enjoy their swap boxes before the holiday rush sets in. :O)

I do believe that Alana has been one HECK of an awesome hostess.

LOL i'm just laughing so hard quietly!! them loud kids are sleeping finally!! LOL well at least they were neat!! LOL maybe the flowers will die!! but then they'd probly come back for more! time to be out there with a shotgun filled with hmmmmm......salt or something painfull!! LOL

I completely agree! This has been one of the best swaps so far! I have laughed and giggled so much on this round that my sides are still hurting! Who needs the abdominizer with the workout I get from laughing with all of you girls!

Bunny I can not believe that someone stole your daylilies! Grrrrr! I read where the same thing happened to someone on the hosta forum but their neighbor spotted them and called the lady at work. Then they walked over and confronted them, the police were called. The report was taken because she had the value of them and it certainly was very expensive to replace all of the plants. This woman's house was near another garden that was featured on a garden tour in their are and that was how they found her home. If I remember correctly they stopped the woman during the garden tour and asked to see her gardens and were really interested in her named hostas! People are simply amazing! I was really mad when someone picked my blackberries, I can't imagine how mad you are that they took the whole plants! Despicable!

Well I thought I would stop in and share some pictures of the crazy monkeys out playing in the leaves today!

OMG Bunny not only is that weird but its kinda scary too! Who would steal plants? (someone stole my 97 yr old neighbors ivy off her porch though) But who would take the time to pile the mulch and roll up the weed paper while they were STEALING the plants??? Some people sheesh!!!!

Well I got my email fixed whoohoo. Fox and I went to some friends of ours Tree Farm last night, there was a bonfire, grilled sausage and venison, an awesome snack spread and KARAOKE! We got home sometime before 2.5 but we had a blast! It was a small group (I think 10 people) very nice time. Fox even sang "Picture" and "Valentine" with me lol, he sings good but my singing ablilities are about like my walking ablilities lmao. (both need some work!)

I am still gathering seeds like crazy. I also have 4 O'clocks blooming and some Nasturnum (sp) that are HUGE and will be blooming soon!!! (ok I know I shouldn't count ma chicks before they hatch but still!) Its been nice here lately. Tonight is supposed to get cold, I think its supposed to get in the high 50's for a low BRRRR, means fall may be getting here finally! I think also it is supposed to rain tomorrow in front of a cool front that is coming our way, again BRRRR.

Alana has been an awesome hostess I agree Hunny Bunny

Medont thats about the largest salvia I have ever seen! Ya sure that is salvia? Great pictures girlie!

    Hi to everyone!

Shotgun and rock salt seems fair to me.... Yes you can and should report the theft to the poliece, you'll ne to know the costs of replacing what's lost, get a copy of the report (they complain, tell them it's needed for your insurance). A guy on the winter sowing forum had this happen last summer, for weeks.

Not sure what kinda of strawberries, just sorta generic HD ones, bonnie's cup.

On a happier note, almost time.

That's fine Bunny. I know Klick will get her box out this week and everything will be all squared away. Thanks to everyone for making this a stress free swap for me- nothing but good stuff all the way around!

Bunny, you may want to switch from daylilies to something wicked and thorny like barberries or quince. Your dog ate them, the rain destroyed them, and now what you had left have been stolen. Thorns would not have stopped the weather but the dogs and the thieves might think twice.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Medo, the only advice I have that I know works is the one my mom used to use on us!

    A little of this

in the mouth worked wonders! Cleaned up my language, stopped my smart mouth in it's tracks, and a very effective deterrent for talking back. Didn't work too good on the old rolling eyeballs but that was my final retort since I wasn't ever allowed to talk! LOL!

Just wanted to mention that my box to debbya went out earlier in the week. The DC# is at home since it's not something I need at work. Heh.

    Good Morning All;
I am still waiting to hear what wonderful things Paya10shun received from Medo. Half of the fun of sending a box is listening to the response of the recipient. I have found that the thing I think is great is not usually what the receiver loves. It is an interesting part of the swap.
So what did you get Paula? Please let us know you received it. If it had some issues because of the Post Office, remember not to blame the sender. The PO has ruined many a trade over the years.
See, I am thinking the worst because there was no post. I have to stop that line of thinking.
It is 50 degrees and sunny today which is more in line with the weather we are supposed to have. My daylilies arrived on Friday and I need to get them in the ground today. That should be a challenge but I am up for it.
Hope everyone has a great day.

My box from Jules arrived! Sorry for the delay in posting, we cleaned the garage this weekend! OMG can the junk accumulate! We also cleaned all the windows outside! I'm really tired!

Back to the box, Jules sent~
A cute broom pen! Bag of fall harvest mellowcremes, Cowboy cookie mix (in a glass jar), deck plant stilts (so that the pot doesn't sit on the wood), cute pumpkin socks. And BULBS.. Hyacinth "City of Harlem", Daffs "Salome", Dutch Iris "Symphony", Dutch Iris "Bronze Queen", Allium "Bulgaricum", Dutch Iris "Professor Blaauw". Plus, a gardening CD! Thanks so much Klick for such a nice box! The bulbs are going in the ground tomorrow! I love everything you sent!
