I do not think that you are too picky, but perhaps Round Robins are not for you. It is true that there are often mislabeled seeds or seeds that were incorrectly collected but I think that most people collect and share seeds in good faith.

There are bound to be some misfires, especially in large swaps. I grow Queen Anne's Lace myself, but I cannot imagine why anyone would want to grow dandilions. I guess what I am trying to say is one mans trash is another mans treasure. Most of the seeds swapped in Round Robins could be labeled better. But very few people have control over OP seed gathered in the garden.

Some people like the 'surprise'.

If you do not enjoy surprises, then I suggest to you that you might find the Seed Exchange more suitable venue for you. There is never a guarantee of course, but you may have better luck on a one to one basis. There are many skilled an knowledgable gardeners here and my experiences have been mostly positive.

I think most people have no ill intentions. I, too, like most of us, have received seed that wasn't viable because it was from a hybrid or doesn't come true from seed. I don't think that the person sending it in knows this, though, or they certainly wouldn't have sent that particular seed in. Also, I think many of the flower gardeners like the surprise of what might come up from a hybrid's seeds. Some do not, though, I understand. I think overall the experience is a good one here on the round robin forum, so the few "bad" seeds I get hasn't kept me from wanting to take part in this community. I hope it doesn't for you. I think you're in a couple wish list type swaps here, too. I think you'll find these ones will probably more than make up for a few disappointing seed swaps you might have been in. ;-)
