This month will be different than most due to the busy season & I want it to be within everyone's budget! So here we go!

Some of the things we will do this month:

1. We all have family traditions for Thanksgiving, some that are very simple & others may be quite elaborate. Let's all share them here on the forum.

2. With those traditions, we all have favorite recipes we use only then. You can send that recipe to your partner with a Thanksgiving card, either bought or made at home.
Also you might enclose a small Thanksgiving decoration though not necessary (home made place cards for the dinner table is one suggestion that would fit into the card envelope). You will be sending 2 cards & receiving 2 cards.

3. Give us all some suggestions of what we can do for little cost & much satisfaction for others & ourselves locally. From those suggestions, try to use at least one of them that are posted & let us know how it went.

4. List at least 3 things a day that you are thankful during this swap. You can post here or keep the list just for you.

That's it, folks. Sign up until Monday November 9th & partners will be posted the 10th.

If anyone has the list of all Petal Pusher members, I would really appreciate it being posted. Also, I must admit I don't know the rules we have here so it would be great if someone posted them! Thanks & blessings, Margaret

Hi, Heidi-Welcome to this swap & thanks for joining. I wonder where all our members are. Too much trick or treating, I guess. I do hope we see more action this next few days. Come on, all you lurkers. This is an easy & fun one. Blessings, Margaret

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Hi Margaret and Heidi,

I'm sorry but as easy as this one is, I won't have time to be online much during the month. I'm going to have to sit this one out.

I'll try and pop in to say hello though.

What a refreshingly simple swap. I have decided not to join anything but seed swaps until spring so I won't be participating this time but I hope you all have fun!

Hi Margaret-Sorry it's taken me so long to sign up. I've been having serious computer problems. Most of the time I can't log on. I can't afford to get this one fixed. I spent time on the phone with the my internet provider's Technician...That's a whole other story.

I would like to participate this month. I just hope I can log on daily. If you don't hear from me it's probably because I'm still having problems. It may not be fair to partner me up with someone... If I can log on daily until the 9th then it won't be a problem.

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

I don't know if I'll be online everyday, but I'll still join in! This one will be full of positive energy, and who doesn't need that?
And, to start the ball rolling, here are...

THE THINGS I'M THANKFUL FOR TODAY (in no particular order)...
1. My family (blood-related, found, and adopted!)
2. My friends (wherever they may roam)
3. My cats (past and present, they all live within me)

Now, who's next?

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Things I am thankful for...God because he gives me strength everyday, my Husband because he gives me support, my kids because without them I sometimes feel like my life has no meaning, my sisters who are my best friends, and my enemies because they show me what I don't want to be, therefor I am a better person. Oh and my little Brownie Girl Scouts. No matter what kind of mood I am in, an hour with their excitement and enthusiasm leaves me feeling happy inside.

Dan I am glad that you are joining us. I don't know you very well, but I would be sad if you left and I missed the chance to make a new friend.

Sleep well everyone

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Oh, here you are Heidi,This is what you were talking about.:0)
I would love to join this one, i really like the message of positive power,
Only thing is this, I hate to cook!
Can I still join,I will send a recipe,a card, and list what i am thankful for, but i really don't need any more recipes,as i won't use them.Do you all still want me?

Things I am Thankful for:
My family, they bring me so much joy.My daughter, who is my very best friend.
My grandchildren, who always amaze me with how smart they are, and how loving, and caring.
Good health,in my family, knowing what it is like to not have it,and so very thankful now, to have it.
As soft quiet rain, being able to see in color, the gift of hearing,( and only hearing what we need to hear(imagine if we heard every bug chewing, every ant walking through the grass, and more.)
My girlfriends,past and present.
My husband.
May i join?

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Margret does it have to be a food recipe?
Hmmm...if cAROL doesn't want to send a food recipe what else could she send??? What about some type of herbal concoction, a good drink, or relaxing foot bath. Just some ideas that are still recipes.

I will talk to you ladies later

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Hey everyone! I'm back for the seemingly dead! Wow what a rough few months! I believe the last time I spoke with you ladies & gentlemen was last Augest!
For those of you who remember me, I did wind up getting a second shoulder surgery and although physical therapy was increadably demanding, i've made it through and have regained nearly all movement back in my shoulder! YAY!

I did however neglect the garden quite horribly and even though I was glad it happened at the end of the growing season, I wasn't really able to get everything ready for the winters here so I did loose quite a few plants.

I've bought a new house! I plan on moving in hopefully in the next two-three weeks! It's a small little townhome with a lovely backyard and it's backed onto a huge park in the downtown district! Super excited! I've pretty much decided that outside of my absolute favorite plants, i'm going to give all my plants away and start anew. (I'm that crazy gardener with all her plants in containers..remember?) I'm gonna dig the beds and start fresh, seems an appropriate start in a new home and with a new year coming up!

Maybe if one of you lives close enough we can meet and I can pass along to you some pots or plants? It's sad to see them go but exciting to begin something new!

Hope everyone had a great halloween! I know I did! I took my Great danes downtown to a outdoor costume party with me. Dressed them up too! One was a race horse and the other was Dracula! We had a blast! I read over the past forums and it seemed you all had a blast too! So sorry to hear of all the people who were sick, but i'm glad you all have recovered!

I'm hoping to join in on the fun this month!

Here are the things I am thankful for!
1- my friends & family
2- my great danes
3- my health and sanity

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Good Morning! Margaret, your theme is a wonderful idea. I would like to start by saying that I am very thankful for you. It is people like you who make us stop and think of all the positive things in our lives when we need it most.

I am thankful for my gardening friends, each and every one. I am thankful for all the help, friendship, advice, laughter and caring of all of you.

I am thankful for my husband, my children and most especially the wonderment that life provides. I am also thankful for the not-so positive things because they help the good things in life really shine.

I will be visiting this month only as life is a little uncertain here right now. My DH's father is doing very poorly and we are trying to make sure that he is comfortable and cared for well and trying to keep his Mom from over doing it. I'm still getting over this silly bug and will be trying to get some work done. I have a catering job and then will be hosting Thanksgiving here for hubby's family. So this month is going to fly and I would hate to let my partner wait on me again like last month.

Kat, I am so happy to hear that you are mended! Congratulations on the new home and the new gardens that you are planning. What fun, starting fresh with a clean garden slate. I wish I lived close by. I would love to take one of your awesome potted creations off your hands. :O)

Hugs to all!

HI-Just a short note to let you know I haven't left the country. I'm having terrible computer problems but I don't think it is hopeless like poor Mariann. Please keep those posts coming & I will try to get this figured out. I am receiving all emails twice & having an awful time loading anything on it. Sounds like a virus to me! Hope this gets posted so you all know what is going on. It would be so appreciated if someone here would kind of keep track of things until i get it taken care of. Any volunteer? blessings, Margaret

Heidi, thank you for helping Margaret while her computer is acting up. I know it will be a huge help!

Mariann, sorry to hear you are having computer troubles too. Our pc needs a complete overhaul. I'm so glad to have this laptop, bought if for hubby's work but I snag it from him regularly. lol.

Hope everyone else is doing well. I went back to the doctor today for a second round of antibiotics. Hoping this will finally do the trick. :O)

Have a great night everyone!

Good morning every one.
Tracy, more med's?Man, I am sorry to hear that. What are they treating you for?
I hope this is over for you soon.
Heidi,
Am i in? Does every one understand i requested,to Not, receive any food recipes.?
I would hate for some of you to go to all the trouble of making them out, on nice cards, and i never use them.
It is just the two of us now, and i long ago, learned to hate cooking.ha ha
If this is to much trouble, i sure do understand.
But,I would like to know, for sure.
So nice of you to be helping out Hiedi, you are super.

cAROL of course we want you!!! Maybe your partner will be creative and send you a recipe for something other than food!! Would that be ok?

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Hey there cAROL, it started out as flu, then bronchitis and finally it turned into pneumonia. The doctor thinks that whichever strain of whichever bacteria is resistant to the first antibiotic so they put me on a non-cillin type this time around, called bactrum. Keeping my fingers crossed because I am ready to feel normal again. :O)

So who is having Thanksgiving at their house this year? I would love to hear some menus. Thanksgiving is really my favorite holiday. I love all the foods that come with it. Dreaming of pies already.

Hope you are all having a great day!
Tracy

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

I'm having Thanksgiving at my house.
We celebrate the week end before,so the kids can come home,we eat(way to much)(every thing is pretty much organic,)then decorate the tree.
It is early to have a tree up, but that is what you do to enjoy time spent with family.:0)And make wonderful memories.
I always have every one vote on which pie they want, a choice of 4-6,and then make them all any way,ha ha, it is a lot of fun.
We play picturenairy,THAT,is really fun.The kids spend the night, and in the morning, every one(us girlies)lounge around in PJ's,and talk and talk, and eat,and eat.
Ok, what do the rest of you do?
cAROL
OH,
Yes, Heidi,I would love recipes other than food, teehee
I hope your new med. works well for you Tracy, you have been down a long time.
I am going today, to buy some Astragalus membrenaceus,i was reading it is good to fight the flu,we have a really good health food store, the next town over, i called, and they are holding 2 bottles for me.
I hope it is as good as some say.:0)

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

cAROL,
do you grow any flu fighting herbs??? If so how do you use them? I tried doing a search online, but couldn't find the answers I wanted. I would like to know what my garden can do...besides look pretty :o)

Heidi

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Hi Heidi,
No,I don't Heidi, but I do grow,Calendula,it is an herb, we use it in my daughters had made soap, and Lavender.
If you grow Echinacea, you can make tea from it.Have you checked the Herb forum?
I am sure there is a herb book, that explains it all.Sorry, wish i could be of more help to you.
If you google 'Astragalus membranaceus'you will find some good info there for fighting flu,i went today and bought the last two bottles,he told me it has been flying off the shelf, well see eh? :0)

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

cAROL~ thanks for telling me to search. I looked on Google but didn't think to look here. There is a forum called herbalism which is a branch of the kitchen forum. From my quick scan I gather that its dedicated to using herbs for medicinal purposes.

Thanksgiving is at my house. I am the only one that has a table big enough to seat my whole family. There is my Dad, Grandmother, Myself, husband and 2 boys, my sister and her husband, and then 4 younger siblings. I think that makes 12 of us!! We make your typical meal except that my husband Fries the turkey. We also have Mashed Potatoes, Home made Gravy, Stove top stuffing (anyone hungry yet?), corn pudding, Green Bean casserole, Oh and the ham, rolls, and for dessert we have pumpkin pie, Amish vanilla pie, cookies and anything else that I have time to make. Then we watch football and the Macy's Day Parade. Depending on the weather we go out and play football, or bocci ball is another favorite.

UGH and then there is clean up. The best part of the day is I get to use my Great Grandmas china. It was passed down to us recently and last year was the first time we used it. It really seems to make the day extra special.

Well I am off to Girl Scouts. Talk to everyone later!!
Heidi

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

cAROL, your traditions sound so nice at your house. I think it's neat that you all decorate your Christmas Tree right after Thanksgiving and get to enjoy it for so long. I love that you get a vote in which pies you serve. I always have a hard time choosing which ones to make. I like them all so narrowing down the options is way too hard for me. LOL!

Heidi, your family sounds a lot like mine. Macy's is a must watch in our house every Thanksgiving. The kids all hang out and watch the marching bands and floats on tv. I am usually in the kitchen already basting the turkey. We do green bean casserole too, one of my favorite side dishes! Love the mashed potatoes with Gravy, home made stuffing with sage, celery and onion, fresh cranberry sauce, and then the apple, pumpkin and mince meat pies.

I have never had Amish Vanilla Pie. How do you make it?

Hope you are all having a good day.

I'm here! I'm here! I think I jinxed myself by saying I'd be here every night adding to my list of what I'm thankful for. Well, jinx or not, here I am! ((GRIN))
First, more of what I'm thankful for...
1. My family (blood-related, found, and adopted!)
2. My friends (wherever they may roam)
3. My cats (past and present, they all live within me)
4. My job
5. My health
6. Living in Michigan (it got up to 65 today!!! woohoo!!!)
7. Music, and being able to both listen to and make it
8. Heat (I hate being cold!)
9. Being able to talk to my parents still

I'm having Thanksgiving at my house this year. My family has gotten quite large, and we've all begun to establish our own traditions at our houses, but we all take part of our day on Thanksgiving to go visit my parents. It's so good to have them still with us, and no matter where we kids roam, it's good to know they're still at the ol' home place! Oh yeah!
At my house, there's me, by buddy Joe, and the two cats Bump and Stella. And yes, the "kids" get a part of the Thanksgiving meal too! LOL! I use a large crockpot to make most of our Thanksgiving meal. First I put a turkey breast in, then add chunked onions, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, and mushrooms. Next I add turkey broth, heavy whipping cream, and cream of chicken soup. Once this is all cooked, the turkey goes on a platter, the taters get mashed, and the other veggies go into a serving bowl. I use the liquid to make the stuffing (stove top) with, as well as the gravy. While the turkey and other stuff is cooking in the crockpot, I cook up some cranberry sauce. I love hearing those berries pop! For dessert, it's cheesecake, pumpkin pie, and apple pie, all topped off with cool whip and a generous helping of french vanilla ice cream. Dinner is server between 1 and 2pm, and the rest of the day is spent loafing, visiting family, and grazing. I always take that Friday and Saturday off from work too. Who wants to work when they need a nap still? LOL!!!

So, who gets out on Black Friday and shops in the morning???
I did it once, but refuse to deal with all those crowds ever again! I'd rather stay home and do my shopping the following week or online!

Everyone have a great weekend! It's time to go start my 1-day weekend!

Peace.

-Dan

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

I go out on Black Friday. I never buy anything. My two sisters go with me and we pretty much go to watch the crowds. I didn't believe that people really fight over toys till I saw it for myself. Since money is tight this year I am making our presents. I even have an ornament that my 3 yr old is going to make. I am trying to teach him that giving makes you feel just as good as receiving. I know HAHA good luck with a 3 yr old!

I gotta run to the grocery store. I forgot to get OJ for my sickly husband.

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Hello, All-I think I can get this posted if I take it slow & watch what I type. Please accept my apology for not being back sooner. This computer is driving me crazy as it takes a very long time to get what I want (I am on high speed, not dial-up), sometimes half of the site I want shows up over the last page I just had & lots of crazy other things.
First, thanks so much for keeping up for me, Heidi. I can't believe we have this few joining as I really tried to keep it simple & reasonable. Maybe it is due to the fact this is Garden Web & I didn't request seeds, plants, bulbs & such be sent. I still like this idea & hope when we get our cards you all will think it was great (well o.k., maybe not great). Hope your Hubby is on the mend, too. I used to be a Brownie leader & those little girls are sooo precious. Brings back great memories for me. How about sharing some of the gifts you are making this year. I think that is a great idea.

I did finally get to read all the posts & enjoyed them.
I am sorry that Tracy, Lisa, Alana & Mariann are unable to join us but thanks so much, ladies for continuing to post & sharing.

I want to state early in this before I lose it the things I am thankful for- So many & hard to keep to 3 but will try this time

With Veterens' Day coming this week, I am so thankful for this country & all who serve & have served to keep us free. How blest we are!! May it ever be!!

The change of seasons here-I live in southeast Iowa & love it. The weather this weekend is to be in the 70's & before long it will be snowing. I love the winters, too.

I was at a doctor's office the other day & an old gentleman all bent over & walking with 2 canes came over to me & DH & offered us a piece of candy, Werthers butterscotch. He just smiled & his little wife helped him sit down. The next man that came in, he offered candy to him, too & that man took candy out of his pocket & offered back to him, both telling each other they always kept candy in their pockets to give to others. It was such a joy to share that moment in time with these gentleman.

cAROL- It's great to have you join. I don't like to cook anymore either. When we moved the place needed a new stove & I told my DH not to get any ideas. It's like the service with me & cooking 20 years & out! So glad you are here.

Dan-So glad you joined us Lovely Ladies. I have seen pictures of those cats of yours & they're great. Maybe you would post them here for us. Your getting with your family sounds super. Aren't these holidays wonderful when we can slow down & really enjoy them?

Kat-So good to hear from you again & glad the operation went well. A new house-& you will be in for the holidays-how exciting. Moving to me is so stressful so I will be praying it goes well for you. Did you take pictures of those Danes of yours in costume? I know we would all love to see pictures of them, dressed up or not.

Thanks, Dan for asking about Black Friday. I usually don't go as I have my daughter home who is disabled & can't handle large crowds. Also I would like to see anything that I would fight anyone for. What a way to celebrate the Saviior's birth, huh?

I think I have rattled on long enough so will try to get back every day. Hope others join us but if not, it will be great with just usin's, huh? Blessings, Margaret

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Hello everyone!!
I do hope that this weekend has been as wonderful for you as it has for me! Been busy busy. I finally started work again and as much as i've enjoyed the time off, it's good for things to get back to normal. I quite enjoy my job, I'm a bartender at a biker bar and I had the time of my life catching up with my regulars! Its really nice working around people like them, almost like a second family!

I've been super busy packing boxes and my danes have not been any help. I tried packing up the towels and whatnot and every time I would turn around one would steal them out of the box and I would have to chase him all over the house just to return to the box to find out that my other dane took one too! I laugh about it now, but it was pretty frustrating at the time!

I'm having my younger dane fixed this monday, he's growing up so fast! It seems like just yesterday I could carry him around and now at 7 months he's weighing 125 and stands taller than me on his hind legs! He's probably going to be angry with me for awhile, but it's the responsible thing to do.

I started cleaning out the garden too, I should have started this project weeks ago! I'm in over my head!! But I have managed to find homes for most of my plants and i've cleaned enough pots to last a life time! I pulled up all my bulbs for winter storage and brought my Angel Trumpets in for the winter. My goal was to start over, but I've found that I can't let go of them all, which is okay with me, just makes the move a bit harder.. the angel trumpets in their pots are HEAVY!!

I honestly havn't given to much thought into thanksgiving and the holidays. My family is all over the states..and the world and very rarely do we all get togeather. I imagine that I will get a small roast chicken and make a little "feast" for myself and the dogs and watch movies on thanksgiving. I planned on working on black friday. I'm not to big on crowds and watching people spend more money than they actually have. I think it's a shame really.

Well, now that i've written a small book, I hope you all enjoy your night and have a wonderful weekend!

-kat

OH, and Margaret, here are some pictures for you (and the others) of my danes! Enjoy!!

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Good Morning

Margaret~ glad to see that your computer cooperated with you. Sometimes modern technology can be frustrating. I too hoped that there would be more sign ups but I think we have an awesome group here!

Kat~ Your towel story made me giggle. You know my two little boys do the same thing. I will relay the story to my 3yr old. He spent last week pretending he was a dog, but your Danes out weigh him by a long shot :o)

The ornament my son is making is super easy. We actually got the idea from Bible School over the summer. You need the metal bottom from a frozen OJ cont. Then you take a hammer and nails and punch a design in the metal. I am going to draw up a pattern for him to follow. My system is that I hold the nail and the end of the hammer, but he does most of the force with the hammering. I can't say about the ornaments I am making. I am going to use them for an ornament swap next month and I don't want to give away the surprise!!

Well I hope everyone has a great Sunday. Can't believe that the weekend is almost over again.

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Hi, All-Sunday evening & wanted to see if I could get through again. It's been in the 70's here today & after church I went to Holiday Open House at our downtown. Lots of cookies, punch & even hot chocolate given out. It was really hot in the stores but enjoyable seeing everyone out in their summer clothes in November. Some years the weather is just terrible. Does any of your towns have these for the holidays. We went to 2 flower shops & saw many beautiful arrangements. My sister who I was with won a beautiful very large poinsetta.

My 3 thankful things today are:

We had a great tribute to the members that were Veterans today at church. The greatest short film with pictures & a song giving tribute to them. They were all invited up & told what branch of service they were in & when. So very touching. I am so thanful for each of those who have kept our land free for us.

My precious great-grandchildren- I always get them outfits for the holidays to wear & this year I was able to get my 3 g-granddaughters outfits alike. One lives near me & the other 2 in Memphis but will get to come for Christmas. Then to my delight I actually got the same shirt for my 1 year old & 5 year old g-grandson who both live close to me. I hope we can get pictures of all of them together. I was so pleased with that.

I am so thankful for Garden Web where we can meet people all over this great country of ours & share part of each others lives.

Will try & get back on tomorrow. Sometimes this crazy thing just stops typing what I type. Maybe the holidays will have a great bargain on computers this season! Blessings, Margaret

Well, tomorrow is the last day for signups. Will try & get back in to see what is happening. Have a delightful evening, all.

-When I dropped my coffee cup only the handle broke..it didn't shatter

-I have self control not to tell my MIL how I really feel

-I am able to go back to sleep when my 3 year old comes into my room and wants to watch a movie at 4:30 in the morning.

And it's only 10:30. I am sure there is more I will be thankful for by this evening :o)

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Hi, All-I am going to try & post another call for sign-ups today but will ask members to signup here. Hope it works for those who havent't been on line for a while.

I am thankful you didn't get burnt from the coffee cup ordeal this morning, Heidi!

My DH had a stomach ultra sound this morning & I am so very thankful for all the wonderful knowledge & high tech machines God has made known to us.

I am thankful for an overcast day today-so warm & yet because of being overcast, I can't see the dust in the house so hope to get some outdoor work done!! Blessings, Margaret

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Hi Margaret,
I saw your post for more sign-ups, but I think everyone has switched over to "seed mode" :o) My coffee cup was empty. I was taking it out of the dishwasher and it slipped right out of my hands. Actually after posting earlier my day got better.

I am thankful that my kids had a good report from their Dr Appt.

I went to my brothers football game today. Back in Aug/Sept he was in the hospital for about a month with 2 bouts of appendicitis. (You would think that once they took it out you wouldn't have any problems.) I am glad that he is back on his feet and back to normal.

Where is everyone...This is like the Margaret and Heidi show?

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

You two are not alone,I am here.
Had to take my hubby to the emergency room yesterday,he saw a nurse practitioner, who did not know what she was doing,so we ended up going back today, then i had a Dr.apt in the afternoon,a lot of stuff, but hoping every thing is ok.Well, ok, this is what happened, other wise you will all think we are dieing here.
Two weeks ago he hit his index finger,on his left hand with a hammer, full force to pound a nail, missed the nail, but hit his finger, being a" MAN,"(ladies, you know what i mean)
he would not go to the Dr.,now, his whole hand had swollen two sizes bigger than it should be,(yes,i know)the finger is about 4 times bigger,to me, it looked like it needed to be lanced, and drained, full of fever, and starting to turn a ugly blue, green, black,i scared him, telling him, black was a sign of gangrene, cause it is.
So, yesterday we go the the walk in clinic, this "Nurse",says, ''Well, i bet it is broken",yes, says I, I am sure it is, but the swollenness, and the color are a major concern to us.
She takes an x-ray, and Yes, it is broken, she says,'Maybe we should remove the nail"hubby say,'No Way"the pain i have right now is something awful.Ok,she says.
I say"It looks like it should be drained"and he should not be in so much pain, should he?
She says"Well, it is broken, the swelling will go down ,and the pain will go away in about 6-8 weeks, his body just needs to absorb all the fluid."
We were not happy with that, but she is the one with knowledge,so we go home, along with an antibiotic.
This morning, it was even BIGGER,and more black looking. And the pain was so bad,he was almost crying.
So, i called my family doctor,he was out of town for a week.
Then i started to get mad,so i called the clinic, and said we need to come back in,cause it was 100% worse,i am told the same nurse will look at it again, i say"No,we do not want her,she does not know what she is doing,"I am told.'Well, i don't know what to tel you then"
I say i want the Dr.who runs the clinic to look at him, they say,Well, technically,he is not working today, but he is here"I say,"It will take 10, for him to look at my husbad, and lance his finger"I am MAD!
OK,she says bring him in.
The Dr.could not believe it when he saw it,he lanced it,and you should have seen all the puss and poison come shooting out,and stink!!!!!!!!!!!We just about barfed.I am not kidding.Poor Wayne,he was almost crying from the pain, the doctor had to squezze, all without a pain shot.
Then they put his hand in a hot whirlpool for 20 min.sent him home with pain pills.
I went and bought one of them foot whirlpool bath tubs, you know, the small ones, and he did it again when we got home.
The pain went away pretty fast, but not completely. He has a big red streak going up his arm, which is a concern to me,Wayne thinks as long as he is on the antibiotic, and it is draining,he will be ok, he is in bed now, but i wont be able to sleep, worrying about the red streak.I wanted him to go back again, but he said no.I want to be able to say i am thankful he is ok, but i am worried.
The nurse praticoner told the Dr.she wanted to lacne it,but Wayne said no.I told te Dr.to go get her, because i will tell her to her face she is a big fat lier, she did not say that, the Dr,says, it was all just a miscomunication,i said, not onmy part,i asked her if it should be lanced.I am sure the Dr.had a few words for her, but i tell you,you guys, who can you trust any more.He lied to protect her,We also were told when we first went into the clinc, that Dr Patrica, blabla, would be seeing him, she is not even a Doctor, but was introduced as such. She even had the nerve to come in to see where the Dr.had lanced his finger.
She used the word'Cut'where did the Dr. cut it? Don't you think she should have said 'Lanced'it?
Sorry,i hope you all do not mind,it helps to blow steam.
Thank you for listening.

Wow cAROL,
I am THANKFUL that you are there to take care of your husband. Now I do not try to pass as a dr but I do have a small medical background...That being said as long as the red streak does not get bigger and your husband takes all his antibiotics and it continues to drain don't worry. Try to sleep. I do worry that the healing time will be longer because of the idiot nurse!

Partners tomorrow Yippee.

Heidi

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Carol! I hope that your husband heals quickly! I am so sorry you had a horrible 'doctor' but as we all know, we're gonna run across them at some point. I know i've had my share! I'm no doctor, but I had a red streak when I had my surgery and it ended up being a part of a infection near the incision sit and after a few days of draining it dissapeared.. I don't know if it's the same case as your husband, but hopefully this will all be past you soon!! I will pray for you!

My dane is recoverying very well from his little 'snip' on monday! He was down most of yesterday and milked the whole i'm hurt mommy, take care of me! Which ofcorse I spoiled him rotten yesterday. He's back on his feet today and acting like nothing happened yesterday so i'm feeling much relief! I was worried he would be mad at me!

Can't wait to find out my partners! I've been going through my recipies and have so many to share!!

Have a wonderful day!

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

cAROL how is your husband today?

kat, I am glad to hear that your Dane is feeling back to normal.

I am patiently waiting for my partners *tapping my foot* :o)
I hope Margret's computer allows her to get on tonight.

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Thank you Heidi, and Kat,Wayne is just great today,I checked him throughout the night, about 3 AM,the fever broke i his hand, and the red streaks were not as red,by 8 AM,no more red streaks, and the fever was completely gone. There was a lot of ( umm, ick, draining this morning,so we know the lancing was really needed,it is being pulled down and out .
His hand is still all swollen of course, and we expect it to be so for some time,as his finger is broken, but he is well on his way to mending.
Today, I can say,i am so thankful for this. And,as bad as the Nurse P.was, I am thankful that we have Dr,s we can go to.
I am very much into alternative med.but I am also, so thankful we have antibiotics to help fight infection.
Makes you think of all the poor people in Africa, who do not have any shoes, and their feet are blistered, and infected because of all the bacteria in the soil,We can be thankful we live where we do,and we have what we need, more than we need,we have all our wants also.
Yes, I am one very thankful lady today.
And to add all of you to my list,is a honor to be sure.
Thank you,you guys, you are good friends.

Kat,Wayne milked it today also,ha ha,and i spoiled him rotten ,are men like dogs?teehee
When will we find out who our partner is,move over Hiedi, your stepping on my foot, the one i am tapping,
cAROL

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

No, men are NOT like dogs.

Having said that, we'll just move on and pretend it didn't happen, okay? LOL!

Carol, it sounds like you've had quite the adventure this week, hopefully it'll all be better soon.

Today I am thankful for the weather we've had hereabouts these past few days. Temps are above average, and the sun is definitely out! I'm loving it!!! Monday night I was doing some leaf-blowing, and lo and behold, discovered that the daffodils I planted a few weeks ago have broken ground, poor confused things! We had a cold snap right after I planted them, and now we're getting Spring-like weather. Who knows? Maybe they'll be blooming for Thanksgiving. Now, wouldn't THAT be a treat?
My roses are still blooming, and I'm thankful for that also. I moved them all into a raised bed this past August, and I'm anxious to see the results of that project next summer. But, there are blooms now, and when I'm outside working, it's just a pleasant thing to pause long enough to go breathe in their scent.
Tomorrow I have the day off from work, and have no idea what I'll be doing. And I'm thankful that I've been able to achieve that too. I used to be such a planner, with a detailed idea of what every day off would hold, it seems like. And now? Now I see that I've finally learned to relax, exist, and let the world turn. And let me tell you, THAT has taken a long time to learn.
Now that I think about it, maybe I'll just take a lesson from Bump & Stella and find a nice spot in the sun to curl up in, and nap at least part of the day away.

Kat, tell me something. Do you really need a reason to spoil your danes? If you're like me with my two "kids", you don't need a reason at all. It just comes natural.

And on that happy note, I think I'm going to go curl up in a ball and take a nap. These two cats are making me sleepy!

Peace.

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

I am not having a very happy night. I went out to feed my barn cats and found one dead. Now my barn cats are just that...barn cats. I do put out food, but they also hunt on their own. This is why I don't have mice in the house :o) I have a total of 5. They were very useful when I had my goats, but I recently had to sell the herd. Thinking of that makes me want to cry too. Anyway it started on Sat. with my big tabby, but the next day he was fine. Then Monday I noticed that my big black one and a kitten that I call socks were not right. I thought they would bounce back as well. I am thinking they got into some poison. Tonight as I was walking out to the barn I heard some leaves rustle behind me...there was nothing and no wind. I know it sounds weird but I kinda felt like it was my black cat running behind me like he always does. When I got to the barn I found his body. In the 4 years that I have had barn cats they have always "rotated". I guess that is the nice word I use for one disappearing and a new one appearing. I am not usually this bummed, but this particular cat has been here since he was a kitten.

Thanks for listening. I am thankful that my other cats recovered.

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Oh Hidie,
I am so sorry to hear this,I have two cats, and love them dearly,my cocoa is 14 years old,Sammy, is just 1 1/2 years old.
Do you put poision out for mice, could be they ate a mouse that ate the poision.I am so sorry.
We heard on the news a few days ago, that Cats can catch the Swin Flu.
Who would have thought that.
cAROL

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

No I don't put out poison, but it's possible one of my neighbors did. The cats seem to keep everything under control as far as the rodent population goes.

I didn't know that cats could catch swine flu. I know that ferrets can catch the regular flu.

I learn something new everyday.

Hi, All-sorry for the lateness of getting this posted. Your email is coming with your names. Now I need you to send me your addresses. That way you won't know who you are receiving from. Perhaps you can look up their want lists & if you happen to have any seeds on their list you might enclose them. Remember, that is not necessary but would be appreciated, I know. Lets make sure the cards are mailed out by the 18th so they will be received early. Also you can post here when you receive the card but not who from, (maybe just a hint). Hope this is not too confusing. Any questions, just email me & I will try to make things plainer.

My goodness, we are sure having some awful things happening to us & our loved ones, aren't we? I am so sorry & will pray for all. Please know that I care & thanks for sharing what is going on. That way we can think about what is happening & give some words of encouragement to each other. It is great to see with all of those awful things, we are still thankful people.Blessings, Margaret

Hi, All-I have received everyones address but Dan's. Perhaps you didn't receive my email, Dan, so please send me your address then I can pass it on to whoever you are receiving from. I did see your cats pictures you posted today & they are wonderful. I have never heard of that kind of cat but they are just the ones I love-very large & very fluffy.

Carol-This is for you. I just discovered that the 8th was your birthday. Hope you had a wonderful fun filled day & may you be blest with many more. I tried to send last night & had nothing but trouble with Photobucket. Have any of you had problems with them lately? I am wondering if that is why I am having computer problems as I use it quite a bit.

Remembering Our Veterans

Happy Veterans Day-All

For all serving now & those who have served, I am so thankful

My favorite saying is"If you love & treasure your freedom, Thank a Vet."

If you have relatives who have served or are now serving in the Military, please post them here.

I had 2 brothers serve in WW2 in the Navy,1 brother serve in the Korean War in the Army & my husband served in the Marines in the Korean War.

We are so blest to live in this great country & should never take our freedoms lightly. Freedom isn't free, as we all know.

Please remember the families who have lost loved ones serving & those who continue to serve willingly.

God Bless America!

Happy Veterans Day

My Dad is active duty National guard. My Grandfather, Father in Law, Mother in Law and several uncles all have served in the different branches in the military. I expect one or more of my brothers will probably join when they are old enough.

Did anyone see the commercial where the boy is sitting on Santa's lap. His mom asks him what he wished for and he tells her something for daddy. Then it switches to a bunch of men in uniform and it starts snowing. Makes me teary eyed every time I watch it.

Thanks to all the soldiers out there!!!

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

My Brother served in the Army and was killed in action 3 years ago in Iraq.
I drove down to Georgia National Cemetary today to place flowers on his grave. They had a nice memorial service there today for all the soldiers buried there.
It's sad and i'm a bit sad, but today is a good day and i'm honored to be his sister and greatful for these holidays, I think they are super important.

My grandfather served in WW2 in the Army.

I am thankful for all the soldiers out there!

Heidi - I saw the commercial - it was awesome. I for one think that there should be more than one veterens day, more than one memorial day..

HI, All-I have called about my computer & my provider reset my modem so I hope that helps some. I am going to call my friend who works on computers to see what else might be happening. I will not do that until we at least have all the addresses given out. I still haven't heard from Dan & will email him again after this post.

Kat-I am deeply saddened about your brother & please know I am so very thankful for those who have given their lives for us. You are to be so very proud of him & your sacrifice for this country's freedom. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Heidi-so many of your family have given, too. I doubt that there are many families whose lives haven't been touched by sacrifices given for our freedom.

Now off to email Dan. I get that address soon so we can at least know who to send to & I can try to find out what is happening with this computer of mine. Have a good night & will try to post again tomorrow. I am so thankful for your patience with me! Blessings, Margaret

Kat~ I am sorry to hear about your bother. I can't imagine what you must go through during these holidays. I do agree that there should be more support of soldiers past and present.

Margaret~glad to hear your computer is working better.

I was hoping to get addresses tonight. My cards are all packed and ready to go!! Well I didn't seal them yet because I didn't want the embarrassment of sending them to the wrong person :o)

Have a good night all!

Margaret, I just e-mailed Dan's address to you. Let him know if it didn't arrive.

Heidi,
Stella and I wish we could be there to give you a bellyrub and some chin nuzzles and make you feel like purring again. When you said you felt like your black cat was walking behind you, you were right. We stay around to watch over those who've cared for us. After all, if we don't take care of you, who will?

Did you all check Dan's pictures of his cats. They are just adorable & look like they don't mind Dan living with them at all! Have a wonder full day & keep posting those things you are thankful for & let's start posting some things done in our areas for Thanksgiving to help others out. Blessings, Margaret

I am Thankful for all our young men in the service.
It is hard to keep a positive attitude, when you see what our government does for illegals, and so little for our young men in service. What a shame.

Dear Ones-My computer is going to the hospital tomorrow morning so I don't know when I will post again. I can't take it any longer!! I am with the computer like my DH is with the TV & some of you probably can really relate to that. I really feel bad about this swap but there are so many things in life we have no control over, isn't there?

Things I am thankful for today:

You great people who have put up with this & getting to know each of you a little better as Carol wrote.

My family-there is a great need in my family for healing of hurts-this is happening & I am so thankful for that.

This wonderful fall we have had. Such a beautiful one & I still have time to get some outside things done.

Please know I will get back posting just as soon as I can. Do continue to post & encourage one another. We all need it!

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Today I am thankful for being able to help out with a food drive for the local GoodWill Inn. It's a wonderful feeling to be in the position to pay it forward.
Also today, I'm thankful for being able to finally get a much-needed new couch for the living room, and for finally being able to put the lawn chairs in the shed. I threw out the old couch this summer because it was so dilapidated (did I spell that right?), and in came the lawn chairs as a "temporary" solution. Well, now the temporary solution is over, having found the exact couch I wanted last night for almost 60% the original sticker price, and it's being delivered within a few hours.
I'm also thankful for having my own house to wake up in, even when it's 2:30AM and the cats want to play, because every day I see people who do not have a place to sleep, much less, a house of their own.
And lastly, today, I am thankful for the weather we are having here in Michigan lately. Normally there is a lot of rain, cold temperatures, and more often than not, snow, by this time of year. We are experiencing mostly cloudy skies today, with the promise of more sun tomorrow, and no precipitation. And, best of all, it is just warm enough to open up a few windows and let the breezes in, enjoyed by humans and felines alike.
I am a blessed and fortunate man, and I am thankful.

Everyone have a peaceful weekend.

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

I can tell you a little story today,ok.
I saved all my children's toys from when they were little, spread them around, back to my children, when they had children of their own.My daughter, raised three, who played with them all.
Last month Brenda(my daughter) asked me if i wanted them back,as her children were done playing with them, and they needed the room.
So i took them back, thinking i would hang on to them for California son,(no children yet)i asked him should i keep them, he said NO,I was crushed!!! ha ha
Hard to just let go of some things isn't it.
So i put them on e bay.
This is where the story gets good.
A lady bid on some of them, but lost the bid.She e mailed me she was so disappointed,as she was bidding on them for her grandson, who is 3 1/2,whom they are raising. But she was bidding on some more,so hopefully, she would win this time.
Well, she lost that bid also,,,,but,,, i still have have a whole box of my children's toys i was going to put up for auction, but thought, Wait, I will give them to her.
So i e mailed her, told her my plan, and she was very happy.
She told me her son and daughter-in-law, got into drugs, when their baby was born, they were living under a bridge, they asked her and her husband if they would care for their child, for just a few months, till they get their life back on track, that was 3 1/2 years ago, they got permanent custody of him,and are raising him.She said he is a well adjusted little boy, but money is tight ( they are grandparents)i can only imagine. He was playing with his friends toys, and fell in love with them, that is why they were on e bay, looking for the same toys.
Now, it gets even nicer.
So i boxed up all i had,and sent them to Little Jimmy, she said it would be his Christmas present.
The nicest part,is this!
My oldest son,who passed away when he was 19,who played with these same toys, was also named Jimmy.:0).:0) :0)
Can you all believe it.
No such thing as coincidence,it was just meant to be.
I feel so good today.
I am thankful i was able to make a little boy have a nice Christmas.
I am thankful today is a beautiful day.
I am thankful for life.
I really do mean this,I am thankful to have meet our Dan,
Dan, I love your postings, you have such a good heart. We are blesseed to have you here.
I know this is a hard time of year for you,so thank you for spreading so much kindness to all of us.
And i am happy you got some nice furniture,at a good price.
Enjoy today my friends.

Carol and Dan I so happy that you had a great Saturday. What great stories

I am thankful that I had a safe trip to my sisters. I left Friday morning with my two kids, grandma and other sister in tow. Today we had a baby shower for her. This is her first child and I have passed onto her just about everything she needs, but she really wanted her nursery bedding and stroller/car seat combo. I am Thankful that our guests were generous enough to give her enough money to go and buy these two items...both are pretty expensive. Since my mom left 5 years ago, being the oldest, my younger sisters and brothers look to me to keep things going. It gets really hard sometimes, but I am Thankful that God gives me the strength and means to get the job done.

I wish you all a great weekend and thank you for being here to show us that there is still kindness and generosity in the world. I really truly appreciate you all!!!

Carol, this swap happened at just the right time for me. I'd already begun to dwell on what happened last year during November, getting withdrawn, depressed, the whole thing. This swap is just what I needed to make it. It's simple, and generating a LOT of positive energy, at least, in my life it is. Everything happens for a reason, and I know why I'm here...
Peace.

Hi all
Hope you survived the weekend!
3 things I am Thankful for:
I am Thankful for the nice weather that I had today, My sister got cleared by the Dr to play field Hockey, and my other sister was able to return the things from the shower that she didn't need, even though she didn't have the receipt.

Hope to hear from you all soon!

Heidi, my fiance and I were involved in a car accident last year, and the 1-year anniversary of it is coming up in a few weeks. This swap came at just the right time. It's keeping me focused on the here-and-now more than the past or the what-should-have-happened.

And, speaking of this swap, I just finished putting my envelopes together and will be mailing them out in the morning. I used my computer instead of writing out the recipes because my handwriting is atrocious, and you'd be using potatoes instead of tomatoes. Can you say "ick"??? LOL!

Things I'm thankful for today...
My father, who has survived another year of deer hunting and bagged his buck early.
My mother, whose love is unconditional, and ALWAYS give me warm fuzzies when she hugs me!
My memories of a wonderful woman named Paula.
My music, where I can always find peace.

Peace.

Dan~ I am sorry that happened to you...well anyone that happens to. I am glad you were able to find the support you needed. I hope you can get through the holidays with a positive look toward next year. ***Hugs***

I am a little worried that my card recipients have not received their cards. Hope they get there tomorrow.

Speaking of cards in BHG magazine they have an article about recycling old greeting cards. Visit the website stjudesranch.org for donation info. The children earn money by removing the front of the cards and use them to make new cards out of recycled paper. They sell the cards in packs of 10. I am looking forward to participating in this!

Hi, All-I am at my sister's using her computer to let you know that I am planning on getting my comuter back tomorrow or Thursday. I have missed it so much I think I am getting the shakes!! I am in hopes to get the cards out tomorrow, too.

I really thank each of you for continuing to post here. What a delightful thing you have done with the toys you have saved, Carol. Making someones wishes come true & giving yourself such joy. Bless you for your thoughtfulness.

And, Dan, helping out. I am so glad you are getting help from this swap. Perhaps it will be even better when the cards come!

Heidi, Thanks for the idea of recycling cards. I know our Hope Haven place for persons mentally & physically challenged make them into placemats & cover them with the clear plastic for selling & giving. Also thanks for posting who has sent & received the cards.

Heidi,Did you make this card?It is absolutely wonderful!
I can't even imagine the hours you have put into this, and you have small children don't you? What did you do, stay up all night for a few weeks?
I won't describe it,just in case you have sent the same one to some one, they will surely love it as much as i do.

And,Heidi,sent along a recipe,for Amish Vanilla Pie,Heidi, i said i hate to cook,not Bake,ha ha, I will try this one,sounds yummy,
I received a Natural Mosquito Repellent Recipe,
A recipe for Massage oil,using Grapefruit,Jasmin,and Ylang,Ylang,essential oils.
And a very detailed description of how to give, and receive the best massage ever.
Heidi, have you tried these your self, this is right up my alley, thank you so very much,
I don't know how you knew i was wanting to try some White Liatris,I saw some white ones growing this summer, and i thought they were truly beautiful, along with the purple.Thank you,
We will be having our Thanksgiving next Saturday.
I will share these recipes with my family.:0)

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Yeah my first card arrived. I made both of my cards and together they only took me a few hours. I have an electronic paper cutter and handcuffs for the kids (just kidding). Feel free to describe, I made 2 very different cards. I have not tried the massage. I do not want to touch my husbands feet :o) *giggling* I hope that you and Wayne can find some time to reconnect over the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I was nervous to send the white Liatris. I am so afraid that I will send seeds that won't sprout. This was the first time I collected seeds. I hope it does well for you!!

Now...who got my other card??? is it you???

Heidi

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Heidi, I don't know what I was thinking, or not thinking, last night, but I got your other card! Thank you! It's very cool, with the two cats sitting next to the fishbowl! I can share the "Kitty Kisses" recipe with Bump and Stella, which is just too cool! I'm going to wait to make the cookies during December and take them to work with me. That'll win me points! And, since I'm new to WSing, I'm going to wait to plant the white liatris seeds in the Spring. I want to grow them up and let them mix in with my purple ones.

Peace.

My cards are sent, sorry, i was a little late getting them out.
I would love to hear some good stories from you guys, what have you done this season to put a smile on some ones face?

Heidi,Your card made me smile,so i will let the rest of you know how pretty it is.
The card stock is a robin egg blue, with 3 Sunflowers on it.
All hand cut,any way,, they seem to be,first Sunflower is layered, light yellow,a darker yellow then light again, with little seed heads in the center.Growing on olive green stems,in a brown mound of soil, the next one is layered also, yellow brown and the center is light yellow with little seed heads. And the third one is the reverse of the first one.
Very artistic,a keeper.:0)And a lot of time went into it,thank you Heidi

Hi, All-I have stopped shaking as my computer is back & I am doing the Happy Dance although I must hang my head in shame as I don't have my cards sent. I can't believe it that life is getting in the way of my plans AGAIN! Please forgive the shouting but it is upsetting with everything else that has happened with this swap! They will be out shortly & praying they will get there before the big day.

The things I am thankful for today:

You dear faithful ones who have carried on so great when I have been absent.

I am so thankful that my DH agreed to us getting our picture taken for the family for Christmas. I couldn't believe it when he said he would. And believe me, when the pictures are received, they all will be in awe that he did it!

The wonderful season. It thrills my heart that it makes people thankful for the Blessings that God bestows on us so freely & so many give Him the credit for those blessings.

Will be on the forum lots now & I am really thankful for that! Blessings, Margaret

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Yeah Margaret!! I am doing the happy dance with you.

Things I am thankful for...Its hard to find things today. I guess I am thankful that I am alive and that my family is alive and that you all are alive.

Tonight there was a bad car accident that involved 5 students from our local high school. 8 people total were taken to the hospital. One of the kids is on life support and another has 2 broken legs. I have yet to hear on the others.

My sister just turned 16. She is super excited to drive, but I am a little scared!!

Maybe some cards will come tomorrow??
Heidi

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- Novembe-Thanks--Giving

Hi
Well rumor has it that everyone in the car accident will be ok. Hopefully my sister will hear something at school today.

Margaret thanks for the ecard. I love it. It was a sheep knitting and then the wind comes and blows the sheep away. When the sheep lands it's socks have been knocked off. Very cute. Thank you!!

Heidi

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

I'd like to thank you also Margaret,my e card was very cute ,sheep also.
So nice of you to send an e card,it is always fun to get cards.

Heidi,
What sad news about the children in the car accident, the one on life support, is he ok as well?
When my children started driving, I was aways worried, every time I would hear a siren, and the time was close for them to be home,i would get all scared.
Do you know what happened? Was there drinking involved?
My youngest is 33, and you NEVER stop worrying, never.
Its what we do best in life,ha ha
Glad to hear every one will be ok.

I am thankful my kids will be here tomorrow,We are celebrating our Thanksgiving.
I am thankful i can still make 6 home made pies, with no trouble, and cook a big meal.
I am thankful I was able to clean house top to bottom, with no problem.
And i am Thankful we will be having good food to eat, when so many will not be,Very Thankful indeed.
cAROL

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

From the latest report I got on the accident... several of the kids are still in critical condition. The kids were on their way home when they swerved into the other lane. They were all 15 or 16.

Part of my problem is I get a little bit of story from my sister who has heard it through the grapevine, then my father chimes in and he doesn't really have a clue. So I got my last bit of info from the news.

Well I am going to rest for a little. I helped my friend catch her chickens this afternoon. Very comical, but that cold air made me sleepy.

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving cAROL. I know it is exciting when the family comes home!!

RE: Petal Pusher

Hi all
I got a great card from Dan. There is seeds~ Tomato mix, and my two recipes are Oven Roasted Turkey Breast with leeks and cornbread stuffing, and Fettucini Diablo. These both sound delicious. Thanks so much. I love getting mail!!

Heidi

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Heidi, I'm trying out that turkey recipe for the first time this Thanksgiving, but that Fettucine Diablo is my favorite recipe for pasta! It's great with or without meatballs, I eat it both ways and can't decide which way I like best. That tomato mix contains about 8 different types of tomato, so it'll give you plenty of variety to enjoy next summer, some for snacking, some for your burgers, and some for making into paste. That should keep you busy, shouldn't it?

Everyone have a great weekend!

Peace.
-Dan

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

My sister was here when I opened my card. I started talking Tomatoes. She said "I am not helping to pick them". I told her not to worry, my 3 year old will help me. They will all have bite marks and chunks taken out of them, but I don't care. lol. He loves tomatoes.

My sister is spending the night at my house tonight (she is the one that just turned 16) . She just got done belting out "Tomorrow" from Annie. Tonight will be a blast!

I recieved my cards from Carol and Dan! Thank you so much!! Dan- I can't wait to try out the pasta dish!! Carol! You've outdone yourself! Recipies for home made dog treats! I'm so excited! And the dog cake! Man, you've made the pups here pretty happy! And I must say, I posted the Great Dane on Duty sign on my front door! I'll post a picture when i figure out which box my camera is in!

I hope everyone has had an awesome week!!

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Hi, All-My cards went out yesterday, at last! I cant believe what a struggle this has been with all that has taken place.
I also received a lovely card from Carol with 2 great recipes in it-1 for Wild Rice & Barley to serve with your turkey & Christmas Candy Cane Hot Cocoa, a great little note pad to hang on the refrigerator which I use one all the time to write my needs at the grocery store & a packet of Lobelia seeds (Cascade of Color) which I will sow in my hanging baskets this next growning season.
Thanks so much, Carol. I love it all & the neat message you wrote. It has been great learning about you & your family. Did I see you have a daughter Brenda? My Daughter is also Brenda. How was your day celebrating Thanksgiving & what kind of pies did you make? Pray it was a blessed one with lots of good memories.

Today I am so thankful for this beautiful fall we have had. I actually got to do some outside work yesterday & got all the bulbs & a couple of plants in the ground. Another day or so being able to get out & work should complete all I would like to accomplish this fall.

Getting the cards in the mail yesterday which I hope those receiving will be pleased with although I didn't send recipes with them. Our Post Office closes early on Saturday & I didn't want to miss getting the cards up there.

This great country we live in. How truly blest we are.

I had asked what is being done in your area to help others for Thanksgiving. One thing that my church is doing is serving the policemen who work that day their Thanksgiving dinner including their families.
Also, there is a community dinner served at our High School for all who want to attend, where all the food is donated & volunteers serve it. Also they will deliver to shutins who would like that service.

Please post things that you know of in your area being done & let us know what is happening in your homes celebrating. I think it is so great that some of you put up your trees then. I have what I call my "Charlie Brown" tree & have all my great grandchildren come in decorate it for us. I have collected soft & unbreakable ornaments for it & just let them go at it. It will be done late this year as my granddaughter who lives in Memphis won't be here until the week of Christmas. I fix lasnaga with garlic bread tha evening for all the mothers & the fathers go out to eat. I love it!

Have a great week, all. The cards have all been put in the mail & should be received before the big day. Will try to think of a game for us to play this week. I am not good at games so if someone else has one for us, I will be glad to send a prize for it! Blessings, Margaret

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Margaret~ I am glad to see that your computer is up and running.

My community does food drives in the schools and churches. There is a church in town that has a free meal. They actually have one just about every weekend. Last year I was able to help at Thanksgiving. Bless those ladies. They have to be creative with their menu, because they don't control what is donated. Their creation looked gross but tasted wonderful.

I have been cleaning my house in anticipation of my mother in law coming...Did anyone see the movie Monster in law??? We have that relationship. My husband is an only child. My MIL doesn't like animals...I have 2 cats, my MIL doesn't like children...I have two, her grandchildren. She thinks everything is so hard with them. She told me today that it's torture to take the kids shopping. I have 2 good kids, yes they are 1 and 3. Every now and then they have whiny fits, but over all they are good. Well she has not been to visit in about a year. She only lives in SC, not half way around the world as it would seem. I think she is going to get a rude awakening. The boys are rough and love to wrestle and tumble. Just the way I like them :o)
All that being said...I am ready for her!! **putting on my boxing gloves and poker face**

Have a great night all...I am back to cleaning!!

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

Hi gang,I'm back.
Oh what a wonderful Thanksgiving we had.
We had way to much food,is there such a thing?ha ha
Turkey, mashed potatoes,& gravy, corn, broccoli, sweet potatoes, green and black olives,3 kinds of hot buns, cranberries, and wild rice with cherries, tea, coffee, milk, and ginger ale.
Pumpkin pie(2),apple pie,pecan pie,chocolate pie,all made form scratch,served with real, whipping cream,
We put up the tree, all decorated real pretty.and watched a documentary on recycling garbage, and talked about how we could have a "greener"Christmas.I did not know Christmas paper is not recyclable. But brown paper bags are, so we are wrapping in brown paper bags this year.Or towels,??
Every one said ehat they are thankful for, we laughed, had quiet moments, and talked "soap" ha ha
Yes,Margaret,my daughters name is Brenda also, she just turned 42,a couple of weeks ago.

Heidi,
I am so sorry for you and your children, they should have a grandma who loves them dearly.
I don't know what i would do with out my grandchildren, they bring me so much happiness,my granddaughter, who is soon to be 15,calls me all the time just to talk, we go shopping together, and she gave me the best compliment, she said when she comes over, she does not even feel like she left home, she feels like she is still home, she had no idea how nice that was to hear, don't you think.
My youngest,Aidan, super glued a few things for me that i broke,he loves to fix things. And Evan, is a wiz,a math wizard.
Any way, we had a great time, and will be going up there for Christmas, more good eatin. Two years ago, our electric went out on Thanksgiving,so we did not have turkey that year, thank God i had made lasagna,we were able to warm it up on the wood burner, thank God we have a wood burner,or we would not have had any heat, the electric was out for 3 days,we played games bt candle light, and just had fun.
Whew,I am done,ha ha

I got my package from Margaret today...Thank you!!
She sent me a polar bear window cling which my son hung up right away, Gourmet coffee, stickers (which my son tried to take, but I didn't want them randomly stuck on the furniture which inevitably ends up on the seat of my pants) and seeds!!
Thanks so much. I love your card too. It will have a spot on my fridge!!

cAROL I am glad to hear that you had great Thanksgiving.

I got all my cleaning done and now I am relaxing. I have decided that if I have a good outlook on my MIL visit then it will be a good one...gotta go with the flow!!

I received a package from Margaret today! Thank you Margaret! It truly brightened up my day! The polar bear window cling is on my office window so I can see his smile while working on the computer, I'm drinking the hot chocolate (both packages!), and have filed the seeds away for Spring! I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes up from that seed mix. Everything, including the card, was fantastic! Thank You!

Good Morning Pedal Pushers!!

I'm sorry that I haven't checked in lately, I'm trying to limit my online time to help heal my neck. I figured that I would come on and share my NEW thanksgiving tradition with you everyone.

My daughter,Tom(her boyfriend) my son, Kayla and significant others will be coming over for a huge breakfast this morning. We usually go to my sisters for Thankgiving dinner but my family is growing larger and they all have two places to go. I decided that the only way to have us all be together for a meal would be to do a big breakfast in the morning and everyone can go their seperate ways after. I'll be heading down to my sisters after the mess is cleaned up and everyone has moved on...

I hope everyone has a great day!

HAPPY THANKGIVING ALL!!

Wonderful suggestion for Thanksgiving Breakfast. I might try that next year!

I don't know who is hosting the swap for December so if anyone has the list, please let me know.

Anyone going out for Black Friday? I have just about all my shopping done but I did see a couple things in the adds I would like to get but not wanting bad enough to fight that crowd!

My tummy is full & I am weary from all the hoopla of the last few days so going to retire early tonight. Blessings, Margaret

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

We survived. My sister is 8 months pregnant and the other one is 16. We actually started last night. Michaels craft store was open and had some great deals. We got there around 6 (after hitting a deer and busting my sister's headlight). People were already camping out at Best Buy. This morning we went to Kohls. The line wrapped around the store. The store didn't put tape up to keep the line in order so when the doors opened people were crazy. I will admit we cut in line behind some bolder ladies. People were running through the store to get the things on their list. There were also people with a pile of flyers. I did find my son a "Handy Manny" flash light. I know I said I wasn't going to buy anything but it was half price, and I had been looking for a kids flashlight since last year. This flashlight goes off by itself so the batteries don't go dead. So anyway we left there and went to Walmart. This was at 4:30. The sales didn't start till 5. There was not a single parking spot. We skipped Walmart and went to the mall. That was not so bad. My sister could not find anything that she wanted. I once again bought something...a pair of slippers for my grandmother. About 6 we went back to Walmart. The lot was packed but we got a decent spot. The joke was on us though...the lines went clear to the back of the store. I couldn't even get to the toy section. We didn't stay there long. I was back home by 7. Just in time for my youngest to wake up :o) With the holiday excitement and extra company my 3 yr old's sleep schedule has been off. He was up at 3 am and I was going to take him with but he fell back asleep before we left. My mother in Law went to Kmart about 9 this morning. She had someone take her sale flier right out of her cart.

So anyway that was my morning. I am taking down my fall decorations to get ready for Christmas. Hope everyone else is have a fun and safe day!!

Heidi

 o
RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

OMGosh, all of that for a flash light and a pair of slippers, too funny.

Plus, you hit a deer, and STILL went shopping? Oh Heidi, you crack me up.:0)

Happy no one got hurt when you hit the deer, could have been really bad.Another thing to be thankful for eh.

How is it going with your MIL?How long will she be there?

We put our tree up when the kids were here, early, but sometimes ya gotta do what cha gotta do.

Thanks for the report Heidi,I hope you can take a nap now.You deserve one!

RE: Petal Pushers- November-Thanks--Giving

cAROL thanks for thinking of me. My Mother in Law will be here till Monday. My Husband works weekends so it's up to me to entertain her. Things are going ok I guess. She is one of those mothers that says her son will always be her baby..and treats him as so. I was not raised that way. I think that is where the main problem lies. I feel like she has the best of intentions...it just always doesn't come across that way. Her son can do no wrong!! Anyway like I said before I am taking this as a learning experience on how not to treat your Daughter in Law.

Our tree went up last night...a little early for me too. The kitten won't leave it alone so I have out the spray bottle. She climbed up the middle last night, but then backed her way down. I am hoping that between the cat and the kids, it won't fall down.

Well I have to clean up the toys in the living room. Heaven forbid my husband or mother in law help while they are watching a movie...ok I really am going to stop being bitter.

I am thankful that you are all here. I truly feel that I have friends in my corner!!

ok before I post this as its own, I want some approval from you all...

We will send... 3 packs of seeds that you partner will have success with and 1 pack that could be disastrous (Similar to what you need for winter solstice!!)

If we use a bubble envelope, it should cost 2-3 stamps.

Tell me your thoughts.

Hello Ladies,

Heidi, If you decide to do a small swap for the month of december,I'm in!

I have plenty of seeds to share with someone BUT not a lot of free cash on hand right now so a seed swap would work for me.

I hope everyone is safe and warm!
