| Hello All, After emailing Kym and clearing this with her I would like to add a new person to the group of people to send holiday wishes to if you find that you can help. This is Tod's posting on the seed exchange conversation side. On Monday November 9 2010 my seed entire seed inventory was lost to a fire in my office / potting shed. several people have offered to help him already so he posted his address here. Tod Hess This man has sent hundreds and hundreds of sasbes loaded with seeds over the past few years. He has shared all that he had to share and could really use some help to replenish his stock. I myself am not a big veggie grower but do have a few of his seeds. He is looking for any veggies but here is a list of some that he has sent out in the past. TOMATO'S CANTALOUPE MUSK MELONS ASSORTED MELONS WATERMELON'S SQUASH PEPPERS CUCUMBERS OKRA MISCELLANEOUS at the time he was looking for: Asparagus...any Misc. If you were going to send me a card and can't do another, please send the card to him! Lisa/ishare

| Hello All - Been out for a while... Had my mom come here by bus and stay with us for a bit and then took a road trip to North Carolina for my sisters wedding. It was nice to be with my mom and sister after 7 years. So needles to say, I am now just getting back into the swing of things. It was nice having 12 days off of work and all but its time for me to get back to "normal, busy" life! Anywho, I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! Flowergirl34/Vina - I recieved your Christmas card in the mail with 3 packs of seeds. Gerbera Daisy (pink), Columbine (Mix), and Asiatic/Oriental Lily (mix). Thank you so much for helping this newbie out!! It was so great to get those in the mail!!! |

| I too received an early card from flowergirl34. Thanks for the blanketflower. It is one of my wife's favorites! My mail date is tomorrow. Everything is packed and sealed and ready for the run to the post office tomorrow. Kym, my uncle has a dog that cannot use the back two legs. His dog has a little cart that the dog uses to get around the house. Two wheels, and he uses the front legs to walk. He lives 1000 miles away, and I have not seen the dog cart in action, so cannot give any other details. I just know it is possible. |

| Hi all! I love this new game. I think I'm doing pretty well :) and I am more than 1/2 way to BINGO! :) Which is awesome for me, because I usually stink at bingo! Sending hubby all the well-wishes for the "early" cards. He gets a smile every time I tell him someone else got there card :). It's just funny, he doesn't ever mail anything...and this was the first time he just went and did it. We'll be laughing about this for years! Happy Thursday everyone! |
|
| flowergirl34 I am glad your hubby mailed them early! I got a great surprise. Plus it motivated me to get my cards done. I have them printed and seed packets labeled. I just need to buy more envelopes and stamps. Mine should go out very soon. I enjoyed seeing all the pets pics!! I owned dogs all my life but we recently got cats. I really enjoiy them. When I am sick they know it and take care of me. Karen |

| I received two cards today! I'm home from work for the 2nd day of blech, so once again I've been cheered up with seeds! Thanks to Rosemetier and Kmpsmom! Rose sent... a poppies mix 4:00s Spinach (this'll be great for my salads!) salad burnet (more for my salad!) pumpkin on a stick (the fruit is usually eaten in stirfry, I just learned online) pipian squash japanese nest egg gourd more 4:00s (now I have the a.m. and p.m. versions!) and tennessee spinning gourds Ann sent... You two definitely stuffed my "stocking" with a great variety of fun and smiles today! ----------------------------------------------------------- Isn't it cool how a surprise envelope can arrive with either one packet of seeds or many of them, and it can brighten your day? This week we're getting hammered with snow here in Michigan, and that makes Spring feel like it's a long way away. This week is also the 2nd anniversary for a horrible Life Event for me (and no, I won't go into any details. it's best to just keep the good memories and move forward). Add in a few days of feeling ill, and it'd be easy to feel miserable right now. BUT, I'm part of a great group of people, sharing our passion for Nature, helping one another through the bad times and celebrating with one another during the good, and I can tell you that I am indeed BLESSED!!! HUGAS!!! |
|
| I recieved my first card today it was from rosemctier and she included pumpkins on a stick for me, thank you very much |

Thanks so much -- I love marigolds -- they are so easy to grow! :) Kym, I got your email -- I will send mine on those dates. Put up my Christmas lights outside this afternoon -- it was chilly (25 degrees), but it sounds like we could be in for a snow storm tomorrow. Have a great evening! Thanks again nuttnhunee!! Crisann |
|
| Dan, Glad you liked the surprises! I hope the "wee beasties" enjoy the catnip! The crazy mini schnauzer at my house doesn't need any help from "chemicals" he's just always that way! Except about 10pm when he's dead to the world at my feet! Let me know what kind of pumpkins they are - they were part of another trade... :-) Happy gardening! Ann |

| Hi debby_1: Odin and Thor are brothers; Thor was the runt of the litter and DH wanted to give him an impressive name to make him feel better. So he named the runt "Thor", and then to go along with the theme, we named his fluffy brother "Odin". Odin, who was the god of the hunt, turned out to be a good name because he is a great bug-hunter. And Thor grew up to be actually bigger than Odin, so it kind of all worked out. :o) Hi Dan, Odin and Thor allowed me to do the wrapping, but they supervised very closely to make sure I met their high standards. Unfortunately, they confiscated the catnip. |

| Ye gads! Pumkingal, so sorry those were not marked. Odin and Thor must have gone on break when I was working on your card.... Those seeds are from a native coral honeysuckle vine: Lonicera sempervirens 'Alabama Crimson'. Here is a picture of the vine in my yard that produced the seeds. I saw a hummingbird drinking from the flowers several times this past summer. |

| Hi Dan, Odin and Thor allowed me to do the wrapping, but they supervised very closely to make sure I met their high standards. Unfortunately, they confiscated the catnip. oh THATS funny --luckily our cats get enough nip to let me have the seeds each year (but angel didnt like nip for years and only buffy did) those kite cards sound soo cool id love to see a pic of them (i doubt there much more then passenger craft tho but its still kinda neat) |
|
| Thank you "Odin, Thor and Family" I received feverfew and butterfly weed! |

| Got some mixed daylily and trumpet lily 'african queen' from ilovefarac! I looked up trumpet lily and they are something new that I have never grown before! I am very excited to plant all of the seeds. Very generous! Cute snowman card and awesome Simpsons stamps too! Thank you!!! Got some awesome Canadian Columbine, Bright Yellow Dahlia, and Regal Trumpet Lily seeds from sandlapper_rose! I have never grown Dahlia or Trumpet Lily seeds so these will definitely be fun! I was also excited to see what Dahlia seeds look like - I tried to find some on my Dahlias and couldn't ever figure out what were the seeds. Now I know! The Canadian Columbine seeds look really interesting - I definitely don't have those kind and they are so pretty! Very generous. She included some adorable Christmas stickers along with a cute card. Thank you!!! |

| i'm loving reading all these happy posts! so exciting! no tree yet. we got flooded and there is now an ocean at the bottom of the driveway. not sure how we'll get one up the driveway. jim might have to drag one up on a sled like pa ingalls but not really sure how that will work unless we get real snow-- imagine a tree dragged through a muddy field-- and i am in no mood to face a real snowstorm. instead i am going to completely ignore the cold and the mud and do some research to see which seeds i should wintersow. i prepared a few pots 2 weeks ago, we had a warm spell (of course), and now seedlings have sprouted-- what to do, what to do. i guess i started too early and tricked them, but with the weather we've been having for the past few years i'm not sure how to approach this whole idea of wintersowing. |

| ***sighing and kicking myself*** I've been sitting here in the office playing around on the ol' pc for awhile, looking around, talking to the cats, just kind of quietly decompressing after a long week. Just chilling out, y'know? Then I look over to check on Bump, who loves to sleep on the terry cloth I've got waiting for me to finish my washcloth quilt. Then I see it. Something is missing. The bag I filled with envelopes for this swap is missing. No need for alarm, sometimes my roommate moves things around because he's either cleaning or putting them out of reach of the cats, and the cats like to play on the fabric shelves (when they're not sleeping on it). So, grabbing my empty glass which needs a refill of something cold, I head into the livingroom and ask him where he moved the bag of envelopes to. "Which bag?" "The one hanging on the fabric in the office with all the envelopes in it." "Oh, I took those with me when I went to get the mail. Good thing I left when I did too. The mail lady was still putting the mail in, so I got there in time and gave them to her. Why?" (I should've let him know I was waiting for the 15th to mail them out, but hadn't.) "Welllll, they weren't supposed to go out just yet, but don't worry, you were trying to help." And so, my dearies, there are seeds in the air, winging their merry way to the furthest reaches of the country, singing Christmas songs as they go. Yea, verily, it truly hath been that kind of week. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ On a much better note, I received more seeds today! This time Jeanne sent me some black-seeded ice cream watermelon, gaillardia goblins, and an annual flower mix to remind me of the holiday seed cocktails I recently mixed up. She also included some great holiday stickers which would've looked great on those envelopes that went out today...lol! Thanks Jeanne, you're a peach! =========================================================== Enjoying my next 36 hours away from the office...

| Kym, I just want to take a moment and say thanks for doing this swap. It's a huge amount of work and you never know just how it will affect people's lives. For me, this will be the main part (possibly all of) Christmas this year. This is always the roughest part of the year for any mailman, and this year it seems to be a little extra rougher. And, to all of you who've so graciously sent cards this way, I want to thank you too! Going to the mailbox after a particularily rough day and seeing those cards has been not only great, but uplifting. Just to know that someone took the time to think about me is a fantastic gift, and I thank you very much! You're all awesome, and it's truly a blessing to know you all. -Dan |

I thank you so much for the nice cards and seeds. I will attach all these cards to my wall... Thank you Kym for setting this up. It involves a lot of time to organize this. I will have various zinnias and gaillardia. =-) Hope they will flower the first year. Michelle |
