new: obf christmas swap

Sorry to be posting late. I'll make this a simple two rule swap -- the first rule is there is no rule and the second is have fun!

No stipulation as what you send to your partner, just send a box, an envelope, an anything that speaks from your heart and conveys the meaning of the season and represents true Christmas spirit. Lets not follow a list, lets just swap. Oprah has her favorites list.well, share your favorites with your partner. Choices are endless - ornament, homemade items, decorations, or just a bit of this and that. What would you like to receive? Well, send that!!!!!! Wrap it up all pretty and send it on its way and DON'T FORGET A CARD!

Boxes should be sent out no later than the 18th since this is an extremely busy time of year for the post office. Sign ups will end on Sunday, 12/8, and Ill post partners the next day or so.

Maryanne/Earthly

P.S. remember to post whether you are playing or not as it is easier to keep track.

I didn't do too much gardening this season. I actually spent the summer away in the mountains. I wasn't working and I have a place, so why not? it was wonderful. My granddaughter and I made wonderful memories, that's for certain. Then we came home in early September to reality and not long after I went back to work (blech!) It's temporary, so that's a good thing.

I've been reading old posts and just want everyone to know, I 've laughed with you, cried with you, prayed for you, congratulated you and thought about you. I never really left in heart :-) I guess I really can't go anywhere, been with this group since it started! Some of us go away for a little while, but always find our way home...isn't that right Mellen? I see Beth has been back as well.

Stay well, stay warm! Hopefully a few more will post to play or not. Be back soon.

Mary Ellen...what type of shop? have you been in it?

hoping anyone that's in the path of any of these awful storms is safe and warm. I can't do the cold anymore...guess it's the blood thinners. I used to love it. now all I want to do is hibernate, but no matter what I do, I just can't stay warm. this is the first time in probably 10 years that I have taken to wearing turtlenecks and sweaters, and layering clothes. I need a better climate!!!!!

going to call it an early night tonight and try to be in bed by 12 (not early if you're a farmer :-) ) the morning comes so quickly.

be well, stay warm!

RE: new: obf christmas swap

Maryanne, since you asked, I thought I would post a picture. Lol. I have a wonderful dil who sends me a new pic ever other day. Our visit was a month ago already. I just love, love being a nana.

I understand what you mean about the cold. I absolutely hate it now. Thankfully no storms are headed this way, just an inch tomorrow and maybe a little more overnight Sunday. The weather people here struggle to make a little seem like dooms day. They get ridiculous.

RE: new: obf christmas swap

What a sweet baby picture, Margo, and your daughter-in-law is so thoughtful to send you pictures so often!

We are having warm weather, but the temperature variations make it hard to adjust to the cold when it shows up. I finished my Christmas shopping yesterday. I had been hard at work on that. Many things need to be mailed so that is part of the reason I shop so early. I really enjoy the option of shopping online. I have some handmade gifts to finish up and then on to the remainder of the Christmas cards. We are doing very little decorating this year. It will seem odd, but a lot less work and hopefully I'll be feeling back to normal next December and we can go "all out"!

Wishing everyone Happy Holidays!

RE: new: obf christmas swap

What a handsome little fellow, Margo. Just makes you want to pick him up and kiss him all over! I can't wait for partners to see who I send to! Not that it matters, these are all wonderful ladies here!
We got about 10 inches of snow on top of a dab of ice. And very cold. Rarely do we get more than a dusting except for the huge ice storm in 2009! It's beautiful but a nuisance.
Hope all have a wonderful day! Melinda

 o
RE: new: obf christmas swap

Hello, Lovely Ladies-Starting to snow here & my, have the temp's dropped here. Supposed to be that way for some time. Nothing like you got, Melinda. Hope you are all staying warm.

I will not be joining this swap but it is just the kind I enjoy. Too much going on but will check in some & pray you have a most enjoyable one.

May the Christmas season be most blessed for all of you. Praise God that He cared enough to send His only Son, Jesus. Blessings, Margaret

 o
RE: new: obf christmas swap

Margo, he's so precious. being a grandparent, in my opinion, is the best kind of parent there is!!!!! I never knew my heart could hold that kind of love.

Jeanne, my shopping is usually done by Halloween. This year, i'm way behind. normally it's the wrapping and the mailing that stump me, but this year, it's everything. I blame everything that goes wrong on the meds!

carol, enjoy your trip and safe travel.

we got hammered today with snow. it was supposed to be a little dusting.

we were in target last night so my granddaughter could have her Christmas pictures taken. so afterwards we did a little shopping, and we happen down an aisle where all the Hanukkah stuff is and she asks for a menorah. I indulge her because heck, everything is 90% off. this morning she's giving me a Hanukkah lesson, and I'm impressed; after all, we don't celebrate it. she tells me her friend Jonah taught her all about Hanukkah; how to play the dreidel game and the prayers. So, the candles are lit and this is what I get..... "thanks to the Lord of Hanukkah, it's almost Christmas eve. Thank you for the food we eat, and thank you for the birds that tweet”. Certainly not what I was expecting, but it warmed my heart nonetheless!!!!

I'm going to hold off a day to see if anyone else signs up over night, and then i'll have my granddaughter match partners tomorrow. so if ya'll don't mind waiting another day, i'll post tomorrow after work

 o
RE: new: obf christmas swap

Beautiful prayer....

Carol, safe travels to Texas! Enjoy!!

Stay warm....tiz a bit nippy here but no snow!! The temp was 35 degrees this morning....beautiful outside, clear, windy, a perfect day to put up the Christmas tree which we picked up yesterday. I must say, it is the best tree I have had in years. So fresh, not dry...the house smells like a forest...LOL!

Happy Monday!!

RE: new: obf christmas swap

Sorry I've missed posting these last few days but so busy I am totally in a tizzy. We spent the week-end with our Son and Daughter-In-Law in Pigeon Forge, Tn. This morning I left work at 11:00 for our Garden Club Christmas luncheon and didn't get back to work until 2:00. I worked until 3:30 and then left work to get ready for a cookie party at Church with the ladies. I don't have my Christmas decorations put out yet and my cookie party is Monday the 16th. Going crazy here...

Great turn out for this month's swap Maryanne....your granddaughter is such a cutie. Grandchildren are the best.

Enjoy ladies. Remember, the post office gets crazy this time of year, so if at all possible, and especially if this is to be holiday related, do your best to get your package out by the 18th.

Could anyone playing just acknowledge that you saw the post so I don't have to chase any of you down. We should have all the questionnaires at least with addresses, but anyone that needs an address, feel free to ask.

i'll try to come up with a NON google-able game, as I notice that's what's been happening in the swaps. give me a day or so to think of some questions. it's either that or bingo, right? unless someone has another idea that I can implement.

Enjoy your night, stay well, stay warm. there's snow in the forecast again tomorrow

Great to be sending to MAryanne. It has been a Loooooong time.
Melinda I'll send you the address. We are in AZ for the winter and It's snowy here too. Not a lot but cold enough that it is hanging around.
Shirley, We loved Pigeon Forge. Have not been in years but It seems like a place where Christmas would be super special.
Took my Mom to Williamsburg one year for Christmas and we both loved that. I'm so "old Fashioned" about Christmas.

RE: new: obf christmas swap

that's what I love, efficiency! LOL you girls/ladies are on the ball.

we got hit again today with what should have been a light dusting. what is wrong with these weathermen? this was no dusting and i'll tell you what, I can no longer tolerate the cold! it stinks this year, because I have to go out...I am still working. last year, I didn't have to, I could stay in and stay toasty warm. now I can't even stay warm in my house and i'm bundled up. stinking blood thinners!!!!!!

annie, I bet the house smells wonderful. I haven't even begun to decorate and a little 7 year old nudge is nudging me big time! just have to get her dad to bring all the bins up from the basement, and he's never happy about doing it!

welcome back Shirley. what a full plate you have right about now!

beth, I often think of your secret squirrel swap. they were some fun swaps!

a few more to acknowledge. i'm working on some questions for a game, although my questions are strange so i'm warning you ahead of time!

be well, stay warm!

RE: new: obf christmas swap

hi everyone. it's still cold as the dickens here. icy and more on the way. blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I have a client meeting that I have to travel to early tomorrow. so annoyed that the manager is such a cheap azz that she doesn't allow anything to be expensed, so I have to take two trains (because I already have a pass) and then meet up with others and drive the rest of the way with her, and then we will do the reverse when it's over. so ridiculous. I could vent forever, but it won't do me a lick of god. can't wait for this assignment to be over and done with.

I think we've heard from everyone? i'll go back and check to make sure and anyone needing a nudge, i'll do so.

hey beth, how is jack doing these days? i stil can't believe i sent you a pie that time! that's the last time i think we traded. so it really has been a while. years ago, you sent me a piece of a strawberry begonia, and when i tell you it's prolific, holy moly...and I've shared the life out it as well.

stay warm, stay well!
i'm hoping spring is just around the corner, but I know we haven't even hit winter yet, so i'll just have to keep wishing!

Just finished getting my package ready. I am on a roll today. Went shopping and finished my Christmas shopping. Still have to do my oldest daughters bday which is January 5th. Did some wrapping, did some cards, and put up a few more Christmas decorations.

I will be back sometime tomorrow to post the DC.

Hope everyone is staying warm. We finally received some snow to go along with the cold but tonight the temps are in the single digits and the high tomorrow is 18. I can't stand it.

RE: new: obf christmas swap

Annie-We are all going to catch a plane and come visit you during these winter months.. Sounds like none of us like the cold.

I will be visiting a friend soon in sunny Florida. A friend and I are leaving Dec. 31st and returning Jan. 6th. Can't wait to see those 80 degree temps.

Margo-Congratulations on your Christmas shopping done. My GD's B-day is Jan. 4th and my Daughters is Jan. 6th.

Beth-I want to go to Williamsburg but I have not gotten there as of yet. Pigeon Forge, Tn. is a lot of fun. We visit there at least 4-5 times a year. If we travel across the Mountains it only takes 2 hours to get there. It is definitely a shop until you drop place.

Margo-I will have your box ready to go by Monday. Will let you know for sure that it is mailed.

Maryanne-Any game you choose is fine, BINGO is a lot of fun if you choose it.

Shirley

RE: new: obf christmas swap

I hope you ladies are all having a great day! I woke up with a cold, but wanted to go to Branson and finish my Christmas shopping, but it's raining and it's suppose to change to freezing rain. All around us is already slick! Yuk!
So not sure if going to do that or not. Maybe next week even if have to get someone to drive me. They have such wonderful stores and things where you can save so much money on same things you can buy in this little town. Go to Ace Hardware and buy Retro Wranglers for boys (they're county boys) here and they are $50. I can go up their and get them for $10 a pair. Amazing. Love shopping the outlets there! So I'm not done yet! Between my son, son-in-law, 3 grandsons, and stepdad I usually save over $400 dollars going there. And it's only 30 min. so that's nice. Just it's a tourist area and traffic is always horrible! But we go often, their or Springfield or Fayetteville and they're over an hr each way. Our town is only about 3000 people so we only have Harp's, po, lots feed stores, churches, gas station. But can go to Walmart and few other places about 10miles away. But I hate going to Walmart. Actually, I hate shopping unless it's for crafty things, etc. But has to be done! I guess that was my vent for the day!
I have a lot to do so will get off here, wishing all a fabulous fun filled, wonderful day! Big Hugs, Melinda

RE: new: obf christmas swap

Faye, I will be sending you an email today with info on your package.

Shirley, you would love the weather here today....headed for the mid 80's..................beautiful! I am in shorts and a tank....just does not seem right at this time of the year, even here in Southern California! No complaints but a little snow would be lovely....LOL.

Melinda, I have never been to Branson. Everyone I know who has visited Branson, raves about it. I think I am done shopping.....did most of it online....some stuff sent to me ie local family and friends, but most sent directly to out of state family/friends. I avoid the PO if I can, especially at this time of the year. Pottery Barn, L.L.Bean, William Sonoma.....love online shopping with them.

Perfect day for pruning my roses...off I go!

Happy weekend to all! Stay warm!!

Annie

RE: new: obf christmas swap

I got my beautiful box from Margo today. Everything was so festively wrapped!

I got a snowman dishtowel, a lovely Christmas card, a Solar Dancing ELF (I LOVE these solar cuties!), Avon lip balm (just in time my lips are so chapped, we have zero humidity here in the winter), a smell of Christmas candle (divine!),the cutest felt bird ornament with a knit cap, and a beaurtiful red glass dish with a snowflake design.

Thanks Margo I absolutely love everything!

My first Christmas gifts!

RE: new: obf christmas swap

Happy Saturday everyone. It's been snowing all day and now it's raining and icing over. Annie, you are making me envious of your temperatures.

I'm trying to get into some kind of mood for the holidays, but there's so much to be done and no time to do it, plus I am not feeling my best. I lack energy and strength to do anything. there's always tomorrow, right? gotta get my butt in gear, I have a young one here that wouldn't be too forgiving! thought it would work today, we were going to small town Christmas, something we do every year, but it was cancelled due to the inclement weather. instead, I am cleaning and rearranging furniture. if it wasn't for this stand alone closet that never made it to the second floor, I wouldn't have to move anything to fit a tree. I need a strapping young buck or two to come here and move lots of stuff around. need to start baking too. my sister reminded me today there's not much time left before it's Christmas.

Melinda, i'm almost done, just gotta get a box and hit the post office. I love the way you shop....i'm all about quality, but I can't stand the mark up. it's ridiculous.

sue g/margo, great box. congrats on being first to receive/send!

that's about it for now, just because I sat down for a minute, that means I should be catering to everyone here, including the dog...so time to get back up and finish this. oh, if you could only see the chaos. I need a bigger house, or I really need to get rid of all the excess furniture LOL (NEVER !!!!!!) (but I will take the bigger house)

stay well, stay warm!
Maryanne

ps. I posted about this...just thought i'd share the pic

 o
RE: new: obf christmas swap

Annie-That weather sounds wonderful. It has rained here off and on for weeks now then it turns bitter cold. We had rain all day today again.

Went to my Church's Christmas Play tonight. It was the best one I have seen. I think 1/4 of the members were in it.

Last night I served eggnog and cookies in town to celebrate Winter Wonderland. All the shops stay open late and serve refreshments. The Kitchen Gourmet Shop where I served the eggnog donates $250.00 to our Garden Club. Three of us work to get the donation. I really enjoy it and don't feel like it is work.

Sue-Nice box you received from Margo. I have the dancing solar Santa and the Reindeer but I could not find the elf. If someone can find the elf for me I will pay them for it. Better yet I need two of the elves, one for someone else. I will pay shipping as well.

Jayeanne-You are on the ball. I will let you know when it arrives. I got your seeds from the secret santa seed swap. Looked up the 'Heart Attack' Dianthus and they are beautiful. Can't wait to see these blooming next year. Like the Thyme seeds as well. Thank You

Maryanne-Your GD is so beautiful...nothing like them.

Shirley

RE: new: obf christmas swap

Maryanne, Shirley is right. Your Grandaughter is beautiful. What a treasure.
Thanks for asking, Jack's health has been good the past two years and we are Thankful for that. This fall we have had a flu bug that we can't quite shake off but it is not a big deal. Not compared to heart problems :<)
I finally got your package ready to ship so tomorrow will be a P O trip. Also got some Christmas cards done, though no Family Letter like I usually do. Well, we adjust as we go. LOL
Again < thank you for the very special package you sent with the pie back when Jack was sick. We talk about that every once in a while and agree it was perfect to lift our spirits at a time when it was sure needed. Another of the things that have made this group special over the years. I'm so glad to be back.
Hugs to all of you.

RE: new: obf christmas swap

Hi everyone. just putting the label on my box and it will be shipped tomorrow. the older I get, the slower I go, I just can't seen to get anything done lately.

beth, i'm so glad to hear that jack's health is good. I hear you about the flu. I had one a couple years back that I couldn't shake for months. i don't get the flu shot anymore, even though they say heart patients should. i just don't want any more crap in my system. bad enough the amount of meds i take.

Shirley, is this the same winter wonderland where you would get dressed in period costume? nice that a donation is made to your garden club.

i don't know if i'm thinking of the same solar things. i'll have to keep my eye out for them.

thanks for the compliments on my baby, i just love her to pieces! today we had school conference - so happy to say she's a stellar student. teacher had nothing but wonderful things to say about her. makes my heart burst!

well, if i don't get off the computer, Melinda's box is not getting taped shut! i'm feeling good that i am actually mailing by my mail by date...usually i'm lagging. go figure.

anyone have the winning mega million numbers? one can dream, right?

be well, stay warm

Oh goodness I forgot my cute kitchen towel and yummy Russell Stover chocolate mint candy. I have a sweet tooth like you would not believe. You did good Jayeanne.

Maryanne-Yes you get dressed in period costume so it is very festive. They had a sleigh ride, ice slide and gingerbread competition this year. A lot of fun.

Package for MAryanne is on the wing. Shipping says in Philadelphia this AM so I'm guessing at delivery tomorrow
We had a couple days of nice weather now they say rain/ snow again. Depends on altitude but we are often on the snow side of the line. That is Ok with me as long as I don't need to drive over the mountain for anything. Hard to believe I loved living in AK and now I'm such a big sissy about the slippery roads.

RE: new: obf christmas swap

Beth, I am worried about your pkg. It was sent priority with 2 day delivery on the 12th and now it's the 18th. Here is the tracking # for it-----
9114 9010 7574 2799 3838 32
I would think if doesn't get there today, I'll check into it.
Very nice pkg. Shirley.
Have a great day all!

 o
RE: new: obf christmas swap

Well, tracking said it was in Phoenix Arizona last night. Crazy, why pay for priority if you don't get something in 2 to 3 days! But it should be there soon Beth!

 o
RE: new: obf christmas swap

I sent an email to Faye last Saturday to let her know about her package. I sent the card part last Monday. The "things" part of her Christmas package were ordered last Friday and are beling delivered directly to her home. I just checked the order and tracking....part of it was shipped yesterday and is supposed to be delivered on Monday. The other parts have not shipped yet and am not sure it they will be shipped together. They said all would be delivered by the 24th.

So Faye, hold off opening anything until everything arrives. If memory serves me correctly, I think I wrote OBF on the back of the envelope and that is probably the first thing you will get.

Happy day....we got rain going on....smells so nice. Off to wrap gifts!!

A very pretty and festive towel and pot holders (poinsettas)

RE: new: obf christmas swap

Hi everyone. Hope the temps are warming up where you are. I actually shut the heat down in the house, we are supposed to hit mid to high 60's, possibly even 70 over the weekend, so why waste the energy. plus it's killing me that it seems the heater has been running non-stop for days, or weeks! put a sweater on!

Beth, I received a wonderful box of goodies from you. the (homemade) evergreen swag is hanging on my door. it smells wonderful. we dipped in to the peanut butter candies (buckeyes i'm calling them!) I am saving the pear apple jelly for Christmas breakfast and those socks!!!!! I love socks to begin with...there isn't a day that goes by that I don't wear them (even to bed), but these, I love. i discovered them a few years back and they are the best, especially after a day on your feet - they are the fuzzy aloe socks...if you haven't tried them, i suggest you do! and the cocoa sugar is right in time for baking this weekend! i'm sad to report the candle did not make it and i'm so glad it was in it's own box, because the glass is in so many pieces. tomorrow when it is light out, i'll take it outside and break away the base stuck in the bottom so i can at least retrieve the candle. (i love, love, love the box it's in too!).and of course, a lovely holiday card!

thank you so much beth for such a nice box of goodies. my belly, my feet, my nose,,,they are all thanking you as well!!!!

well, tomorrow is crunch time and sunday will be used to finish up what i sure as shoot know won't get done tomorrow, so it's time to call it a night. i'd like to get my elves on it, but that's only in my head!

hopefully more boxes will be received tomorrow.

Shirley, would love to see your pix. years ago you sent me a snowman decoration, in a crocheted sleigh...i think you made it, at least i tell people you did :-) it's a welcome addition to my decorations!

i'm yawning like crazy....it's been a long week and a very late one and not much accomplished...if you could only see the disarray of my house.

stay well, stay warm!
maryanne

 o
RE: new: obf christmas swap

Shirley, please post some pics We'd love to see your crafts. I can di a lot of stuff but crochet is not on my list. Both Mom and Grandmother were good at it and I never got beyond dish rags and pot holders. LOL
Maryanne glad the package arrived, Sorry about the candle but glad it was not the Jam. That would have been a real mess.
Try the coco sugar on toast. It's a fun change from Cinnamon sugar and like you said, good for cookies too.
We don't need a thing, but I'm trying to talk Jack into going to town. LOL I just feel like shopping.
Hope you all have a safe and pleasant weekend in spite of the crazy weather.

 o
RE: new: obf christmas swap

Faye...just sent you another email...package update....tracking shows a delivery to your home on MON 12-23 and another delivery on TUES 12-24. We will see if they show up on time....the weather might get in the way.

I do hope Santa, Rudolph and company can make the trek this year to visit all of the kids that have been so good ......

Wonderful packages......I have never heard of fuzzy aloe vera socks. Where in the world have I been???? I just read about them.....comfy!!!

Stay warm, stay safe....have fun!! Merry Christmas!

Annie

 o
RE: new: obf christmas swap

Hope I got this right.

Today the temps are warming up, the snow is melting. iw as actually warm for a bit...maybe it was all the running around. one of the leaders in our service unit (scouts) did a holiday party for foster kids. we were able to provide gifts for 280 foster children. today was the party...they ate, sang, did lots of crafts, got a visit from santa, made a mess, ran, banged on the piano, had a good time. I on the other hand, am totally exhausted.

so tonight, i'm going to straighten up around here and tomorrow do just a tad of decorating. i'm going to "cheat" and put up a small artificial tree with all princess type ornaments and call it a day. I hope it will please my granddaughter. I just don't have the energy this year to lug it all upstairs and besides, I have no clue what to do with everything else that would have to be moved. too small a house for all the crap I have...(and don't think for a minute I am getting rid of any of it LOL)

RE: new: obf christmas swap

Maryanne , we did fine without a game. Most of us are too busy anyhow.
My wish for today is that we are all blessed with enough time to ENJOY the things that we feel like we "Need to do" or the courage and wisdom to decide we don't really need to do them.
hugs and holly to all and a Merry Christmas.

Michelle, I LOVED all that you sent!
-a soft, soft, soft winter neck scarf in totally wild colors. That was the first thing I opened. It brought a big smile to my face. LOVE the colors!!! And, did you make it? Totally awesome!
--Taaallllll, GREEN, Snuggly Sox! BIG smile!
---pretty blue and white garden gloves
----Avon lip balms-2, and Avon silicon hand cream, and Avon Skin so Soft hand creme. These bring back wonderful memories......Mom used to get us girls these things when we were 'younger.'
-----seeds-crimson watermelon, gourmet blend radish, French cantaloupe, marigold 'Snowball,' green-flowered milkweed, and bachelor buttons.
Like I said above, I LOVE all that you sent! Thank you so MUCH!!!

Annie, the turtles are soooo easy. I don't use 'homemade' ingredients. Yes, I have a mold, and I use Wilton chocolate discs from Walmart. I have tried other chocolate brands, and they are just not any good. I also buy the caramel in a block---find this online. Have been making these for at least 30 years....always at Christmas.
I can't believe the card has not made it to you. Hmmmm.....If it is not there by the end of the week, I will check into it.

Son and family are coming later today and here til Friday. Can hardly wait to see our granddaughters!

Merry Christmas to ALL of you!

Mary Ellen, the turtles are history!!! I (we) loved them, as I attempted to be "Good" and share them with my husband.....I say attempted only because I allowed him only one bite. He would have been perfectly content consuming all of the those magnificent turtles...quickly.
Thank you for the info on the turtles.

And Mary Ellen, I received your envelope today. Mary Ellen sent me a very generous gift certificate to Sample Seed Shop....which I love. We all love Remy at Sample Seed Shop! Chocolate caramel turtles and a very nice gift certificate....so very lovely. Mary Ellen, thank you so very much for your kindness! A very Merry Christmas to you!!!

It is Christmas now in the West...may all of you have the most beautiful Christmas! Each of you are a joy!

Maryanne, thank you for hosting....so wonderful!!

Merry Christmas! Enjoy...be safe!

RE: new: obf christmas swap

Merry Christmas everyone....hope your Christmas was everything you hoped it would be. Our family celebrated last evening with a meal, opened gifts and spent quality time together. I really rack up at Christmas time with it being my Birthday. Thank you Jesus for a wonderful year.

Thank you Maryanne for hosting our December swap, I enjoyed it so much.

It's that time of year when we must decide what month we will host for 2014. If you have a specific month you would like to host for our OBF group please sign up. January is fast approaching and a new beginning. Seeds should be arriving soon in the stores and I'm sure everyone harvested some from their gardens so they are always a good swap idea. DH bought me a green house last week so I am so excited about starting seedlings. It is a used one but in very good condition and all glass with lots of shelves. I can actually have heat in it so can really start those seeds early.

RE: new: obf christmas swap

Hello everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Hard to believe another year is passing. This was a fun swap, all the generosity continues to ooze from the participants. Great boxes everyone. Sorry no game. no one seemed to mind (I hope)

Beth, that cocoa sugar you sent has been a real welcome addition. we are using it on French toast and as a matter of fact, at breakfast this morning, my granddaughter asked me to use the new cinnamon I got in my box - i'd say it's halfway gone already with the various things it's being used on. one of my new favorite things!

Shirley, put Carol down for July, she likes to do her Christmas in July. If it winds up she can't, I will. If she does, I'll take November. I know you have done this a number of times, but could you please list current members when you return from vacation? Speaking of which, have a fabulous time and enjoy the temperatures! And used greenhouse or not, what a great gift.

Well, today I have started cleaning/clearing, etc., my house. which needs it so badly. I'm on my 4th load of laundry and what stinks, is that it is beautiful out. I could be out doing yard stuff, but i'm not. we are going away for a few days, so I want to be sure some stuff is done. now that work has ended for this assignment, and never certain when the next will start, I need to keep on focus, so this was my quick hello and wrap up.

thanks for all that participated. it was fun being back. I need to come back more often!

peace and love and light to you all!
Maryanne

RE: new: obf christmas swap

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this swap!
Maryanne I absolutely love the Vidalia onion jam! Fabulous! I need that recipe! And here is a pic of me in the apron Maryanne sent me!
I so loved this swap and hope you all had a great
Christmas! Wishing you all a wonderful New Year with many blessings!

 o
RE: new: obf christmas swap

Just perfect Melinda, that apron was meant for you! Couldn't believe I saw you post a pic on FB with that saying and here I had sent the package with that apron. Telepathy or something!!!! The jam I will send to you as an email once I jot it down. This was my first year making it, and it won't be my last. It's been a real winner.

I have an insane collection of Santa's. He's the tallest one I have. My granddaughter sometimes calls him her pretend grandpop! I thought he was a beauty when I first laid eyes on him, and lo and behold, after Christmas one year, he was marked down by 50%, so I treated myself. Still more than I would have normally wanted to put out, but I think at that time, I had a bunch of money!!!!! He's a little over 5' tall.

Shirley, why not take a different month? And I'll light a fire under Carol's butt....she's just coming back from her grandson's wedding, so it takes her a little time to get back in to the groove.

I fell like I have been doing laundry all weekend...two loads to go for the wash and then i'm done for a few weeks or more. Got all the new Christmas clothes down for everyone, and everybody gets new sheets and stuff, aside from the regular dirty stuff, and i'm pooped. kitchen is clean, dog is bathed, i'm halfway there with my contribution for new years. this coming week i'll tackle my granddaughter's room...best to do that when she's at school. then it's time for the basement which I dread, but it needs to be organized, once again

Well, hope everyone has a great New year celebration. We are heading up the mountains, probably the last time until the spring. We'll spend it with some dear friends - no muss, fuss or drama, just good laughs and memories.

dreary day today ~~ cold and rainy...bone cold YUCK!

stay well, stay warm,
maryanne

 o
RE: new: obf christmas swap

I'll sign up to be hostess in September if that is okay.

As some know my husband and I went to CA to spend Christmas with our older daughter and her husband --- and the triplets! Of course we came home pretty tired and caught colds while we were away also. I seem to be getting over mine pretty quickly.

Happy New Year!
Jeanne

 o
RE: new: obf christmas swap

I'm thinking about doing a gently used garden books or magazines themed swap for January. Anybody interested? I read my magazines and catalogs over and over while waiting for signs of spring.
What do you think? I'll post a new thread if this it OK and anyone wants to do it.
Happy New Year to all.
