Water and Innovative 'landscape design' in South Africa

Hello! Haven't posted on this forum, but thought this thread that I started on Landscape Design might be of interest to posters here:

"Sometimes it is good to put things in perspective as we get deeply involved in discussing landscape design in terms of "new ideas of space" or the meanings of "arbor vs pergola". We are currently very concerned about not being able to water our lawns during increasingly droughty times. And so on. Take a look at the "design" links below and tell me what you think. But first, some background:

I have been ordering a lot of flowers originating in South Africa to use in tropicalesque garden designs this coming season. Two of my cousins are traveling in South Africa right now. I also read Bahia's descriptions of the country with great interest. One day I would love to travel there . . . Which brings me to yesterday afternoon. While listening to "The World" on NPR I heard a great piece on South Africa.

Here is a revolutionary yet simple design. The tremendous energy of kids on a playground has been harnessed to the benefit of all. Very cool."
