I have come across this really beautiful plant and would like to grow it. The picture shown on
http://lorraineralfe.com/blog/?p=114
is unlike anything I have ever seen.
Can this plant be grown at home?
does it require special care?
has anyone tried, and do you have hints to offer me?

What do you mean by "grown at home"?

If you mean as a houseplant then the answer is no. Like almost all ZA Protea family members it requires maximum light, lots and lots of fresh air, a phosphorous-deficient, slightly acidic soil, avoidance of over-hot conditions, very good drainage and clean water.

It will be fine just kept frost-free (and may take a little frost in fact).

With best wishes.

Rob.
