Restio Questions Seed etc

I am really confused about restio flowers. Are the male and feamle both on the same plant or different plants. And I would like to grow qa restio from seed using the smoke mthod. anyone know how to germinate without the "smoke disk" and make homemade smoke. Do i need to burn something special or pine needles? or should i burn the dead plant part itself? And what is this fynbos material i keep reading about? what is it? is that what i need to burn?

thanks

The flowers of the FEMALE PLANT are wind pollinated by the pollen of the flowers of the MALE PLANT.
Fynbos is a dense shrub. Some "smoke disks" are made with Fynbos smoke saturated water.
I just read about smoke treatment last night. The book I read covers the germination of many seeds. It did not list any specific leaves. Soy seeds in a tray. Cover with 2-4 inches of leaves, burn them, and water in the ashes. This will scarify the seed coat, and chemicals in the smoke aid in germination.

Why not just buy the discs? They grow pretty easily with these!
