| Jacqui, first let me say that any attempt to support the environment in which the Monarch thrives deserves my loudest applause, especially from one living in the U.S. I hope it is not too late to respond to your question, but you might consider checking out the website I list below. If I mess-up, go to robsviolet.com/ and scroll half-way down until you see highlighted, "how we package and ship it". The concern will be fungal infections due to lack of air circulation during shipping. I know that with transporting tropical foliage from the state of Florida to other states here, fungicides are often applied to the foliage, but small plants only a few inches high may need protection from pythium or other fungi affecting the root system.
