| I have a shrub that seems to be called rutty rispoli, and I was told it was South African. However, I can't find any information at all about it. It's about five feet tall in my USA zone 9 garden, likes part sun, has clusters of pink flowers and flowers most of the time. It's very easy to propagate and has few pest or disesase problems. I'd like to know the range of USA zones this plant can be grown in. Thank you. |

| Not all that common here in California, but it is sometimes seen in southern California. The actual name is x Ruttyruspolia 'Phyllis van Heerden', and it is a hybrid between Ruspolia and another genus. It is not very frost hardy, and did not do well for me here in the SF Bay Area, probably due to lack of heat, which it prefers. So I would say it is only hardy in USDA zones 9 and 10, and then only areas that actually have hot summers. Ruspolia comes from the subtropical, summer rainfall areas of South Africa, very similar to Florida conditions. |
