I'm pretty sure this is not a South African native, but only found naturally in some parts of the Mediterranean. I've grown it, and sometimes it even reseeds itself in the garden. In my opinion, it is a difficult plant to grow well,(very fragile and easily damaged), and more interesting in concept than useful in the garden. It is sometimes available as 4 inch pots from AnniesAnnuals.com mail order.
