Richard's Travelogue

Just a quick comment on one of the plants. I noticed the Salvia macrophylla Upright is different from the one I ordered from Ginny Hunt several years ago - no burgundy undersides to the leaves. The upright one that I've grown for the past several years seems very happy with the hot and humid climate here in New Jersey, to six feet or more in fertile soil. After trying it in several situations it appears to me that the plant needs the rich soil and also decent seperation from its neighbors. Bloom has started around the first week in August and just gets better until frost.
