Pink Autumn Sage seeds (Salvia)

I just got some Sage seeds in from another GW member (Thanks Sandra!) and need some help and tips.

Should I start to sow the seeds now? I started coleus seeds inside around the beginning of Jan. and they're already sprouted with 2 sets of leaves.

Should I treat them as any seed? Keep soil semi-moist and provide artificial light?

How many should I sow per pellet of soil? I'm using this "green house" that I bought from Lowes. It has 12 "soil pellets" with a cover to add humidity at the beginning. I started many colues seeds in one pellet and each one sprouted so now I'm having to seperate them very carefully as to not damage the roots and replant them, I don't want to run into this mistake again.

Any other information of this type of sage/salvia would be great!

Plant one seed per peat pellet you don't have to worry about seperating them. Be careful with the greenhouse
once the seed has germinated keep the top off. Salvia
greggii does not like moist organic(Peat) material if
it is kept to wet you may lose them.The seed should germinate at the same temperature your coleus did (70 degrees).Your other option is to direct sow in the ground
I have several salvia seedlings coming up right now.
Several greggii seedlings have survived colder weather than we currntly have.Where in Zone 8 are you? your plant material list looks very similiar to what I have.

Hey Art!

I'm in Dallas, so I'd be afraid to plant the seeds in the ground right now but I will try to sow them in the green house thingy. When I saw the coleus begin to sprout I removed the lid as to avoid mold and such, so I'll be sure to do that with the salvia.

What is your experience with salvia here in TX? Does it have a good growth rate?

In Austin we have quite a lot of salvias greggii at the
top of the list planted in lots of locations around town.
I grow about 10+ species and lots of hybrids. I have
seen a few greggii and micophylla around your area.At
the ft. worth botanical gardens they also grow S.farinacea
Augusta Duelberg.I would say some of the better salvias for you would be S.greggii "Wild thing",S.greggii "Diane"
S. greggii white ,S x "Cherry Queen",S x Cherry Cheif or if you can find it some of the "Navajo Rose" and bright red. The other plant that should perform quite well is
S.guarnitica "Black and Blue" these plant have performed well even farther north than you are.
