How do you propagate Bog Sage? Does it grow from cuttings? If so, when is the best time to take these cuttings? Thanks.

RE: bog sage propagation

Bog sage (S. uliginosa) rapidly produces underground runners that can be separated to make new plants. In my experience these plants do not like being in pots, perhaps because they like a moist environment and soil in pots tends to dry out quickly. These salvia reportedly can be grown from cuttings or seed, but I have never tried either method because it is so much easier to separate the runners. Come to think of it, I do not recall ever seeing seed on my plants.
