FYI I have your cuttings going just waiting on root development.
About your cold frame good air movement is key in any closed system. Putting a small fan in your frame will help protect the cuttings from insect,disease and tall floppy plants.
I would be concerned about mold developing in the straw as well.

My suggestion on harding them off would be this.. If your plants begin to send up growth.Pinch them above the first node where you see growth in the leaf axil so the energy can be directed into branching. Rich or Robin may have some other suggestions for you being they are closer in temperatures
than I am.

Some of them will need to be pinched shortly. There are over 100 micro/greggii seedlings in 9-packs and well as dozens of examples of named varieties. It is something to do in cold weather. It will be mass planting time in May. Within the next week or so I will drop you an email about ones you might be interested in. We meant to do this last year, but on my end my mother had a serious medical issued and needed a lot of help and so the season was partly lost.

Wardda, you may want to consider getting a piece of light weight frost-proof cloth (this stuff has several names) to cover the plants. We have a store here in Raleigh that sells 7-foot widths of half ounce fabric by the linear foot for around $.45 per foot. Put the sliding door over the plants only at night when the temp is going to be below 40 or so. This way you get the sunlight and air circulation without having to worry about excess heat build-up. A few pieces of stiff wire would be sufficient to keep this cloth off of the plants if you don't want it to lay on them.
