Jurisicii is definitely seasonal (late spring, I think) and patens forms are intermittent throughout the growing season, preferring cooler spells. They definitely do not like blooming on days with hot, humid nights during summers in the sultry southeast.

My S. patens 'Blue Angel' indeed went away during the heat of the summer. It came back in the fall, it is a nice plant worthy of growing. Patens flowers are larger than those of juriscii, at least that was the case with my plants last year.
