Salvia mocinoi

Received a few seeds of Salvia mocinoi last year, germinated, and the plant is flowering well, if rather similar to others. The magenta bracts are attractive, recent photo on the "Latest" link on my site www.robinssalvias.com .

My question is....what does MOCINOI mean??? No results from google, although there are other genus with the name mocinoi.

Grateful for any answers.

I think it must be in honor of a botanist, Jose Mariano Mocino.

I'm trying that link again, as this site doesn't seem to like accented letters:

He was a contemporary of Sesse, and Salvia sessei is named in the latter's honor. Mocino and Sesse together described quite as few Salvias, if my memory of searches in the Harvard Herbarium and Epling's seminal work is correct.

Here is a link that might be useful: Martin Sesse y Lacasta
