Salvia carduacea in Anza Borrego

just came back from a salvia hunting excursion in So Cal deserts and thought I share some images of the annual Thistle Sage here. These plants were on the fringes of a gravel wash, several feet from the other annual Salvia columbariae and maybe 10 feet or so from a string of Salvia apiana.
