Most of my salvia cutting are now hardening off outside in their pots. All my half-hardy plants go outside in April, first up against the garage in the shade and after a week, out in the sun. Frost isn't often the problem this time of year, although they must be brought in if there is to be a heavy frost or freeze; it's drying winds. Salvias often bloom indoors in windows or under lights, think of it as a taste of what's to come. Currently I have 4 types of salvia either blooming or in bud. Since you don't know what kind they are, it is hard to say whether they will continue to bloom. Fall and winter blooming salvias can have flowers this time of year. If that is what they are, then after a brief flurry, they will make you wait until at least September. There are also dozens of summer blooming types. If properly hardened off, they should just get better and better, with maybe a slow period during high summer. It's hard to go wrong with salvias, although the mystery would bother me.

One oif my black and blues that I overwintered in my kitchen is blooming like crazy right now. I have been putting it on the porch since the temps hit 50 degrees. The past few days they have been going straight outside in full sun and into the garage at night since we are still susceptible to frost for a while yet.
